Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Presto PopLite Hot Air Popper. LINK to Presto PopLite Hot Air Popper: amzn.to/1NTdnfB . It comes in red, black and white. It measures 14 inches tall and 10 inches wide and only weighs about 2 pounds. Included is the base, cover and measuring cup which can also be used to melt butter.
You can melt up to 3 tbsp of soft butter in the cup while the popcorn is popping. I have cut up cold butter into small pieces and that melted almost completely. There is no on/off button, you plug in the machine to turn on and pull the plug to turn off.
To use the unit, remove the cover and measuring cup from the base. The unit is not plugged in. Fill the measuring cup with popcorn, don’t over fill it. I’m using some organic popcorn. Try to use fresh popcorn and not something that has been sitting around for ages because it might not pop well. You can experiment with different brands. Pour the popcorn into the chamber. There is a fill line and you shouldn’t fill above it. Never put oil or butter or anything else in the chamber except for the popcorn. Put the cover on the groove, it sits easily. Put the butter melter on the cover with the tab to the back. Even if you are not using this cup to melt butter, it has to sit on the cover while you’re popping. I’ll put 2 tbsps of soft butter in the cup. Place a big bowl underneath the chute. Now we’re ready to pop. Plug in the unit and wait. So the popcorn is finished popping in 2 minutes 40 seconds. You saw there was no flying popcorn everywhere. The chute is designed well and the popcorn went right into the bowl. The butter has melted nicely. There are about 16 unpopped kernels. The popcorn is warm and yummy. At this stage, the popcorn is healthy. Now, it’s less healthy when I add butter but really tasty. You can add salt, different spices, use a mister to spray different oils, go nuts!
The unit will shut off automatically to prevent overheating if the chamber is overfilled or it’s used over and over again without turning it off to cool.
The cover and butter melter can be washed in warm soapy water, not in the dishwasher. The base can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
The unit is about $20 and worth it if you love popcorn. Kids love to see the popcorn popping and flowing out of the chute. It’s also a fun gift for kids or adults.
Hope you enjoyed this review. Please subscribe and thanks for watching!

i did not realize these things were so cheap, nor did i notice that popcorn is actually a pretty healthy snack if made this way and eaten without butter.

What a helpful review! It's easy to see how relatively few unpopped kernels this popper ejects... That's always been a big problem with our older popper. It looks like this one's newer, slightly narrower chute uses the popped kernels to block the unpopped ones from shooting out. That said, we've found that putting a small cutting board or other stable object under our popper's front feet, tilting it back slightly, allows fewer "un-pops" to escape. (If you do this, just be sure the popper's stable so there's no chance it will tip over.) Cheers!

Just wondering how you keep it from throwing out kernels of popcorn into the bowl before there popped?

The one bad thing is you have to make quite a bit of popcorn, otherwise it tends to spit out more seeds than it pops.

I had a hot air poppcorn maker of another brand. And I sold it. I was not happy with it at all. It did the most fantastic job with popping the popcorn, that was not the problem. The problem is that the popcorn is dry, because it is popped with hot air. And salt will not stick to dry popcorn. I could not salt the popcorn whatoever. So I sold it. In Norway, it is not common to pour butter over our popcorn, so I never though about that. I do think I tried it once, with microwave popcorn or something. And I do not like butter on popcorn at all. Soggy popcorn, blæh! If there was a way to get salt to stick to the popcorn, a hot air popper is a great solution. There is absolutely nothing to clean afterwards, and that is a big plus. I have used microwave popcorn, but it is not healthy at all. Not the ones we have in Norway. Maybe there is healthy microwave popcorn elsewhere in the world. So I was looking for an alternative way to pop. And suddenly, in a local shop, i ran into a microwave poppcorn maker, in silicone. It looked promising, so I bought it. And guess what, it works like magic! It has a lid with a measuring cup in the middle. In that cup, you are supposed to put butter and salt and/or eventual spices, after you have measured out your amount of corn. I don't like butter on popcorn, but this is not the same. It is more like kettle popped, where you must melt butter and pop them in the hot butter. It does taste exactly or almost exactly like kettle popped. It is also possible to pop the corn without butter, I think. Salt will stick to the popcorn anyway, because it is damp when ready. Not totally dry as with air popped. The downside with it, it that you have to clean the bowl and the lid. It is dishwasher safe and easy to clean by hand. But compared to the no-cleaning air popper, there is more cleaning. Well, with an air popper, you have to clean the serving bowl. In a microwave popper, you serve it in the popping bowl. So it is actually just the lid with measuring cup that is extra cleaning. So I can really recommend a microwave popper in silicone. I have the one in the link below, from Clas Ohlson, a Scandinavian chain of stores. But I guess there are hundreds of similar ones to be found, at least online. But for those of you who anyway pour butter over already popped popcorn, an air popper may be the best solution. I had a really cheap one, Made in Hong Kong or something like that, but it worked like magic regarding to popping the corn. I would have kept it if it wasn't for the impossibilities for salt to stick to it. Here is the microwave popper from Norway.
