The section of the Guild Wheel at 14:28 at Redscar near Pope Lane is the site where 2 fishermen were killed in a tragic landslide in 1950. They were Albert Edwards and Jack Southern from Wigan. One them is said to have been buried there under mud. It happened at the bottom of Redscar Wood off Pope Lane playing field.

The Weir path at 14:47 that passes through Redscar Wood/ Boilton Wood is the area where joy riders used drive stolen cars at night and burn them out. It was in the early 1990s. The path was a lot narrower then than it is now. Don’t know how the council managed to remove the burnt out cars.

I watched this carefully at slow speed concentrating on the turnings I think I've missed in the past! Thanks very much for this useful journey. If you ever do it the other way round could you 'film' that too please?!!

brilliant. how easy it navigting when you come a road and crossing is it well signed?

My daily ride. Can be plagued with unaware pedestrians so a bell is essential.
