Well Asian languages yes but for western languages black people, especially Africans, have always been multi lingual. All the African friends I have know AT LEAST 3 languages.

Especially in the beauty salon and nail salons. I saw this video of this lady getting talked about by the nail techs and when she started speaking the same language, they were shocked and rarely talked during the rest of her appointment afterwards

Roughly, six thousand language trees can be traced back to one single African mother tongue. Africa has the oldest speech and writing systemsin the world. Some people are childish when you ask them to teach you something in their language and they start telling you curse words/expressions. I had a colombian friend in school who when I asked to teach me something in spanish he told me curse words and made out it was a greeting. I also had a Chilean friend at the same school and so I greeted him with curse words and he wanted to slap my face 😂

I think Chinese do this a lot. I had a Chinese friend and he'd repeat to me what other Chinese people were saying about others in public. It's such a hard language to learn they assume no foreigner understands them.

If you don't understand what's being said, then what's the point of them saying it to your face? Use your iPhone translator it serves me well when I must Über. You may not be able to respond but gestures and facial expressions are universal.

China had Chinese people doing African blackface on their annual nationally televised program a few years back (The most highly televised show in the entire country). They aren't scared to show how they feel about you, but your ability to believe them when they show you is a separate issue.

Fear not, there are computer generated apps that makes you converse with an AI. They will even correct you if you make a grammatical mistake. You could also talk to someone who doesn't know English very well.

Nigeria is an English speaking country..we have our different DIALECTS not the general language even our so called dialects are not understood by everyone..our general means of communication here in Nigeria is English language and that’s what everyone from different cultures understand! Obviously a chinese person cannot say English is their language because it is taught in school bcoz that’s not their means of communication rather chinese is!

@@shadesofsheilaaa I know Nigeria speaks English, most countries speak English, but it does not mean English is native to Nigeria or all those countries that speak it. Nigeria was forced to be an English speaking country when it was invaded by the British before it finally gained its independence in 1960. The British are at the top of where English is native to, and ofc they are the ones who colonised Nigeria, hence making Nigeria an English speaking country. But being an English speaking country does not make English native to the country. And just like there are people who do not speak all the different languages in Nigeria, not all people speak English in Nigeria too. I have travelled to different cities in Nigeria and I went to places people could not speak both English or Igbo. Perhaps you are assuming you are speaking to someone who is not aware. I have lived in Nigeria before and I have one parent from Nigeria. I myself was born and raised in England, UK so i claim English as a native language to me because of where I was born and raised and the first language I spoke is native to the country. However, I also speak Igbo and I claim it as a native language to me too because it is part of my heritage and I can speak it. I do not claim Scottish even though this is also part of my heritage because i have never lived there and do not speak the native language either. Try to represent your home country by being proud and claiming your actual native language, which would be one of the languages that originate from Nigeria. Other Western countries represent their country by denying English as their native language, infact some of them will feel disrepected if you try to say their native is English, and correct you to say no, although we have English speaking in the country, our native language is this or that. But for some reason some Africans do not have the same respect and pride for their home country to do the same. Infact some of them only want to claim English and disregard the actual native languages of their country. This is how a countries culture and history can get washed away, by having a mentality like this. Lastly, you mentioned dialect in your response and felt the need to capitalise it smh. There are different languages spoken in Nigeria and each language can have multiple dialects. I am speaking of language, not dialect. As someone who speaks Igbo, i am aware there are different dialects in Igbo and it remains irrelevant to the discussion. Whether you chose to represent your actual native language is on you. But it is a false narrative to claim English is the real native language in Nigeria.

I've had to correct some people who learned Haitian Creole from jerks who taught them bad stuff to say when they simply thought they were saying a simple greeting. Slightly long anecdote: One of the worst ones was when a sweet coworker found out I was Haitian American, she really was trying to just show me respect by trying to greet me in Creole, which she did start with "Sak pase" which simply means "What's happened" ("sak ap fet" is "What's happenin" and usually what I grew up hearing more from Haitians) but she then said the phrase for "suck my d," and I thought I heard wrong. I was pissed when she repeated it but I guess she saw my face and/or heard me suck my teeth as I was about to walk away, thinking I was ignoring her, and then she gently touched my shoulder as I was turning and waved at me and said it again, but with such a caring tone. I asked her if she knew what she was saying. Some jackass had taught her that was the proper way to say "How are you," or something to that affect (as well as other terms once we started talking more on what she was taught), and when I told her that's not what that means, she nearly cried because she said for a week she was greeting the other Haitians like that and some would laugh, others not respond, but one older lady had given her a super mean look but said nothing back to her so she thought it was like a "Haitians hate Black Americans" thing, until I, and another lady who had shown up partway through the convo, told her she was wrong but let her know it wasn't her fault at all! I wanted to hug her so bad in the moment I saw her eyes water. She eventually was able to laugh at it but I know she'll never forget the initial embarrassment.

The children of Africa have shown throughout time in memorial how much better in character we are to people who don't show the same for us. Now, if the children of Africa can show that same love we have for strangers to ourselves, we will be better off. Who cares if strangers don't like us who do they think they are for us to respect their opinions? If the children of Africa decide we no longer want to mix be a part of or care for others, the world will stop. That's a fact you need us. We don't need you.
