Good on you finding him during the time when he was one of the most influential artists! Kinda like Skrillex and Bassnectar, the music technically fits within the umbrella of dubstep if one were to need to categorize, but it's so expansive that it really revolutionized what the genre could be... All 3 of those artists are brilliant, but between them, imo PL is the most ingenious. If you catch this new reply to your old ass comment having not listened to PL in a while, maybe you'll take this as a reminder to brush up like i am ;)

EDM Like Pretty Lights and DJ Shadow blow that electro shit, IMO, out of the water! This groove takes talent, and the DJ that remixed this has skill as well. Thanks for posting this and keep them coming! I am 100% sober and loving it!

archologyzero pretty lights is a single person. Yes he does bring in other vocalists/instrumentalists/etc. to get all the samples etc. but he composed his new album in it's in entirety. He directed all of the artists on what to play and brought it into his own vision. He also does all of the dj'ing and song structure in terms of the electronically aspect. Just cause lights has an s on the end, it does not mean that this is a multiple person group, i hate when people get that confused

in truth it started out as derek and his drummer corey in the early days when he played small shows in fort collins at the aggie theater and hodi's half note. then he replaced corey and got another drummer and then went solo. so his first two albums included a live drummer.

I love the use of samples because it's a somewhat a dying artform. I can tell PL grew up listening to 90's hip hop which contained samples galore : ) I love new technology and the sounds available in production software, but you can't beat classic samples from CLASSIC tracks.

@neil jones= you are correct he used to play with a drummer named corey. even before he was pretty lights he was in a band with michal menert who rapped at the time. there band was named listen but you will only find one song on youtube of theres. at some of michals shows he throws down some inpromtu rapping.
