OMG! Cheeky in Helsinki!!! Now I have finally found the nail polish I need to have just because of the name! 😃 Geetings from Helsinki, Finland everyone! And as a Finn, I feel obligated to say: Suomi mainittu, torilla tavataan! (= Finland mentioned, let's meet up at the market square and celebrate) 😂😂😁😁🤪😘😘 (That's kind of an inside joke for us Finns.) And now I'll start to watch the actual video...
@@TheSalonLife I did, I am currently obsessed with dazzle dry. I just ordered 7 more colors! I had to switch from gel polish because I developed contacts dermatitis and I am not disappointed!
We used to call that Vinylux color "orchid." It's pinker than lilac, which leans more purple. For an idea of the difference, the Cuccio Helsinki is closer to lilac than orchid--or to lavender, for that matter. The OPI Galleria Vittorio is the truest lavender in this collection--at least on my monitor. I don't have any of the polishes (yet) to compare in person. Helsinki is in Finland. I had a laminated world map poster, and I used to test my son on countries and capitals with it. Of course, that was back in the 90s, and nation-states have changed a great deal since then. But a bunch of them are still the same, and we knew every country and capital on that particular map. The real test for Scandinavian geography is to be able to spell Reykjavik without looking. It's the capital of Iceland, BTW.
Oh--and I don't mean to bash Dazzle Dry, but... I really don't like very many of their glittery/shimmery polishes. There's something off about them to my eye. Their creams are dynamite, though. Maybe some day when I get rich, I'll get a bottle.
Incredible quality 👏 I have to say you guys sold me on the OPI Addio bad nails, ciao good nails shade, going to buy it right now! I wish dazzle dry was more accessible to Canadians without being so expensive, hope the expand retailers in the future. Thank you for the continuous informative and educational videos, they are been such a help 😊 would love to see swatches of good bubble gum pink shades, I struggle finding good formula blue based pinks!
I agree about DD. I wish they sold in Canada too! We have such a small market though, sadly. For some companies it's not really worth it. I have to say other than some Essie Gel Couture, I don't really have many bubble gum pinks... can you give me an example what you mean by bubble gum pink? Like Essie Gel Couture Haute to Trot or more like Model Citizen?
@@TheSalonLife Essie Haute to Trot is a great one, also shades like OPI Getting Nadi on my honeymoon and Mod about you or even Zoya Jodi would be some examples, but any true brighter pinks would be a joy to watch. I find them to be streaky and uneven with application and I trust your opinion and expertise! ☺
Yes, I have OPI Mod about you and yes, the formula is not easy. It could be the brush? This is a good idea for a future video.... soon!! Thank you for the idea!!
I have OPI Addio Bad Nails, wore it over the winter, such a pretty and unique shade. That Cuccio is gorgeous, I love really muted shades like that. Re Drying time: if it's something unique, really gorgeous I don't mind a longer dry time. If it is a more basic creme and something where it's not super unique, I want it to dry fast. If it takes a while to dry it needs to be worth it! :-D. Love your vids!!
Thanks for a lovely video! 💜🥰 My favourite one is CDN Vinylux It's now oar Never because of the colour, but as a Finn, that Cheeky in Helsinki is my favourite too! 😁 Go figure! 😘 Then again, it's not a sin to have more than one favourite, right?🥰😂
@@TheSalonLife I'm not sure! I bought "Jo'mina" and a pretty pink called "Harem" off of HauteLook years ago. I haven't seen their products on the app for ages. I also did some digging and looks like amazon also isn't selling them! So I guess their nail varnishes are discontinued. Major bummer and will make me cherish the two bottles I have!
I love the links to the products you like! I use a glass file, fine grit. How does the Diamond file compare to a glass file? I have natural nails that are thin and fine and crappy. I only use a fine grit file, of course. Would the Diamond file in a fine grit be ok, or is a glass file that’s fine grit work better for pathetic nails?
Glass is perfect too. Don’t forget that I often give a perspective as a salon owner. I broke all of my glass files lol. I also like how thin the diamond file is. It gets into the groves much more comfortably especially for pedicures.
@@TheSalonLife Thank you for your help! So far I haven’t broken a file. 🤞🏻 Just to inform you and not as a complaint, yesterday I clicked on the link in two videos to Dadi oil and both took me to Sally Hansen’s instant cuticle remover on Amazon. I love My Bliss Kiss’s oil, Ana Seidel is a big fan and follower of Doug Schoon by the way, and have enough to last me a long time, so it didn’t stop a sale or anything. I was just curious about Dadi oil. I just thought you’d want to know. Another pesty question, in your experience, have you found nail glue to be a skin irritant to many clients? (I know you aren’t a doctor or a medical person.) When I wore acrylics, I mostly had forms, but did have tips a little. The glue never bothered me, but then either did the acrylics for 15 years. My skin has always been sensitive, but it has gotten much worse as I have aged. I have avoided nail glue, but have been thinking of using it with the tea bag repair. I usually file the broken nail off or do the tea bag with base coat. Base coat doesn’t really work all that well. I can keep the glue off the skin but am worried that because my nails are pathetic, the glue might go through my nail plate. I am pretty sure that products and things don’t penetrate the nail plate, but my nails just excel at doing weird things.
Sherri, thank you so much for telling me about the wrong link! I definitely have to fix it! I really like Dadi oil and clients are having good results with it. Their lip balm is very nice too!! Nice, very faint smell, not sticky, doesn't stick to the mask :) famousnamesproducts.com/dadi-lip-balm/ Nail glue, a good quality cyanoacrylate made for nails is usually OK, not very allergenic (unless you actually have allergy, don't use it). These kind of adhesives can even be used for fixing cracked skin too. Personally I don't find any fixes to be effective long term and I would rather shorten the nail and keep them shorter to avoid bad breaks. Are your nails flexible and peeling or hard and brittle?
@@TheSalonLife I’ll look into the lip balm. The left side of my lower lip has decided to go vegan-it doesn’t like bee’s wax, the rest of my lips are fine with bee’s wax. I really love Bliss kiss’s lip balm but can’t use it now because of the bee’s wax and have been trying various vegan balms. I developed a sensitive to acrylics and 2 years later had the same reaction to a thermal polish. Neither time was an allergy though. They just irritated my skin, and not on every finger. Makes it a pain in the neck to try new things, because I can’t even test it on my toes. I generally shorten them with a break. I keep them pretty short, although I do have a free edge. I have small hands and small nail beds. I hate how my nails look with no free edge. Pretty funny considering I had no free edge and didn’t nothing to my nails for the first 30+ years of my life. I played piano, classical music, and took countless, countless lessons. All the piano exercises and playing came in handy though-I can use my non dominant hand almost as well as my dominant one. Also, on a keyboard, I’m pretty good at typing. I do suck at finger typing though. 😂 With the tea bag repair, even with glue, you have to keep re doing it. It’s a pain. With this break, I’m hoping to get it to last at least another couple of weeks. It broke really low down. That finger has a little bit of onycholysis where it broke, so low is lower than most people’s. The best way I have found is to use nail glue and glue either some tea bag or silk over the break, put multiple layers of glue on. Then use the Orly Repair kit or some kind of dip system. Then buff it a little bit smooth, making sure to avoid buffing the natural nail. One gal did that and then used polish to remove her polish so she didn’t have to keep redoing the repair. I don’t do any of that because I’m nervous about using the glue. I won’t use Orly or the dip system because they seem to be the acrylic powder from acrylic nails. While I suspect it is the monomer that my skin objected to, I don’t know for sure. Since it wasn’t an allergy, I can’t even get tested for it. My nails are flexible. They can peel, but usually don’t. I just have really weak and thin nails. My hair is the same way. I hate it, but try to remind myself that are tons and tons of much worse things to get cursed with genetically. While I know oil won’t penetrate all layers of the polish to reach my nails, I do use oil all the time. Probably 8-10 times a day. In between mani’s I go naked from about 4 p.m. on Saturday until around 10:00 a.m. Sunday and during that time, I keep oil on them. I’d go longer, but if my nails are naked, I can’t do hardly anything with my hands or I’ll sure as anything break a nail. Thank you for your help! I think I will just continue with the base coat and hope I can hold the nail together for a couple more weeks. I may eventually try the nail glue, but will probably do so when the nail is on the free edge. That way I won’t have to worry about it effecting my skin.
Acrylic polymer (powder) is ok. You can't be allergic to it. You can be allergic to monomer though. That is the reactive part. PS. Allergy (overexposure) usually starts as irritation. So yeah, I would be careful. We can totally be allergic to "natural" products, so yes, some people are allergic to beeswax. Vegan products totally can be allergic too :)
Now with the dazzle dry, if I wanted to do clear, do I have to do a base or can I just do the shiner top coat to prevent chipping? I know some polishes chip if you don’t use a base coat, is that the case with the dazzle dry or vinylux?
