Pretty is a product of the University of Cape Town College of Music. I have been so privileged to hear her on a number of occasions at the University as this is where I work! Such a star!
As a South African living in Ireland this is just beyond words!! SO PROUD OF YOU PRETTY - ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT - I dream of the day I, as a white South African, can return to my country…a country full of people like Pretty, Mark Shuttleworth, Elon Musk, Patrice Mosepe, Anton Rupert, Cyril Rmaphosa and myself…with politicians and visionaries like Mandela and without the likes of Z and political parties that could not get it right to embrace true democracy and the reconciliation of Mandela and Tutu…I will return when openly white reversed apartheid discriminatory legislation against white males particularly is officially renounced and I and my family can return to a true democratic South Africa where Mandela's words and dreams came true in full…for all peoples of South Africa. YOU ARE A TRUE INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US PRETTY…you are a real image of a modern and free (partial) South Africa.
I love the creamy, thickness in her voice. God had certainly kissed her vocal cords. May she use it wisely. Best wishes to her and her illustrious career, especially in the Bel Canto Repertory. Go girl!!!!!!

I've been closely listening to Miss Yende and reading other viewers critiques. The majority is correct. It's to her best interest to work on her upper high coloratura register. Screeching etc is not pleasant to the ear. So I truly hope her coaches really work on her higher register. To protect and bring out the best she has yet to offer. Good luck Miss Yende. Were all waiting with baited breath for what's to come.
The last time I checked, I'm sure that I remember it being perfectly okay for me to express my opinion on a subject. Just because my view is different than yours, is no reason for your comment. I still say that to me she has a beautiful and quite remarkable voice, but the highest notes do need more support especially if she decides to make these bel canto roles a specialty of hers.
Non ci siamo! La fioritura è tutta sbagliata. La pronuncia, malgrado la presenza italiana, non buona. Il recitativo, noioso e senza colore.... Di tecnica vocale non si può nemmeno parlare.
She has some flexibility but her voice is too heavy for my personal taste. Too bad because I am rooting for there to be more good opera singers from the African continent.
