BTW! These animations are based on the way I play them.
I purposely try to keep 90% of the chord changes as close as possible * in between the first 4 frets, and try to emulate the piano too.
but in the end, there are many other ways you can interpret them. Hopefully, mine will be a good starting point for you all.

WOW !!! Love and appreciate so much those motivating comments, Mr. Carl Kerkman ;^) ♪ And politely, please don't omit to tell them to "Ring the Bell" too ...lol..;^) ♪ I kinda have a strong feeling that my purposely made for guitarist tutorials are going in the right direction and reaching the right person (RU-vid algorithms are pretty intelligent, as I notice). I guess they can even calculate well that a guitarist produced these animations who happened to have developed skills for EDITing with "After Effects" and much more advanced software? ...lol... Let me tell ya, there's a lot of a lot (years ) of thought + brainstorming enable these productions through tons of trials and errors, of and managing to best of my skills (guitar playing as well...lol..) a way to make Steely Dan and/or advanced guitar chord changes friendlier and (to my humble opinion) better than agonizing traditional mathematical guitar grid tablatures. ;^) ♪ If I've raised the bar too high for the leadingJoe guitar instructor / different language talking heads style tutorial that just after a few minutes, you have an idea of the first chord... Well, I'll take it. lol... ;^) ♪ Anyway, expect a minimum of 65 + Steely Dan tutorials to be displayed/ created within the next 12 to 15 months. And from a biased point of view, if someone doesn't know SD yet, they will acquire a taste for it very quickly. Plus, someone who could despise SD (impossible ...lol..), there is everything and more that you need to learn in the diversified world of guitar chords and voicings (time signature, different scales.) A determined guitarist can learn within their masterpieces tutorials I do. Maybe guitar teachers will finally be effective, teaching their students some Steely Dan faster. Or use this for visual educational guitar teaching? And in many languages too! ;^) ♪ Thanks a bunch for sharing, sir ;^) ♪ Peace ;^) ♪

Hey there, Mr. Steve Thompson ;^) ♪ Super thanks for your much-appreciated appreciation and for suggesting/motivating folks to LIKE, SEBscribe, and HIT that BELL.♪ Personally, as much as I notice that even the many successful YT channels there are out there with a few hundred thousand to millions of subscribers, they constantly bash to remind their viewers to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and NOTIFICATION BELL.♪ I think (even though it seems to be a crucial part of a "successful" channel in constant evolution) that it's annoying and repetitive. ♪ If people in 2022 haven't got it and aren't (yet?) sensitive to what can make a channel more appealing for the YT algorithms, well, I prefer to leave it to folk's judgments.♪ But don't get me wrong, ALL the LIKES, new and NOTIFIED SEBscriptions, and very kind (often very constructive ) comments are hugely motivating to produce more and better content.♪ I work so damn hard putting these very elaborated visual music lessons (for ALL languages in this sense, too) that I don't understand why there aren't more likes and all the rest. It's very competitive/with lots of choices for guitar tutorials in the sea of RU-vid content, so patience will let more guitarists and Steely Dan Lovers enjoy and discover my dedication.♪ Peace, stay always tuned; the best is yet to come every day, sir. @@SEB-EDIT Thanks, but I hope your German is good lol I’m a Canadian-born German with a French name lol I’ve done a lot of barbershop-style singing the past 15 years. Also, I’m more a keyboard player. Guitar is something I wish I could play. I can strum a bunch of cowboy chords, but that’s about it

This is another great video. I see you use some different chord voicings than me so I will try those out. I was playing this with some friends of mine before they shut us down here in California :( Also, the solo will help me a lot. I was just improvising it. I encourage everyone to check out Sebastian's exercise videos as well. I have been playing along with them. You have a different way of playing the chromatic scale than I have seen before. It is a new challenge for my fingers :) Formidable mon ami!

Merci beaucoup, vraiment Jason ;^) ♪ I really appreciate your mention about my 5-minute daily guitar exercises (some of them). 'Cause for someone who really wants to improve his skills and/or strengthening his pinky finger, these exercises did miracles for my ability to become a better musician/ guitarist. ;^) ♪ I don't invent anything. These were the exercises I've been introduced to 30+ years ago that I had to do and improve every week. (At Mr. Roger Pelletier private musical school in MTL, A famous TV show conductor in the '50s at Radio-Canada, who was even the long time teacher of Gino Vanelli) for about three years, obviously with his traditional triangular wooden metronome. ;^) ♪ So a weekly lesson was ; a half an hour/ 6 times 5 different 5-minute drills like these to start. Then another half an hour working on the songs for the eventual presentations. I was the guitarist of the big band of this class (Benny Goodman 50's style). Then an hour of theory with the whole 20 musicians and working on details of the songs in a group. And to finish the day, it was an hour of practicing the tune in the "Big Band" formation ;^) ♪ The passionate/dedicated/patient man would have been 115 +or- years young today. ;^) ♪ CLEARLY over his head in the classroom (on a metal plate), was boldly written ; "AN EXTRAORDINARY MUSICIAN IS A MUSICIAN WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY DETERMINATION... " What can I say more? ;^) ♪ If it was good for him 90 years ago and good for me 30 years ago, I guess today in a format, that besides, I accompany you/ doing the metronome, can make it more dynamic/ friendlier to undertake/ for practicing regularly. ;^) ♪ Voicing will often be somewhat different but will always respect the main trades, melody following. Still, I always purposely try to involve/find as many low bass root notes and open strings as possible in the songs that influence the results. ;^) ♪ I intend to add (eventually) 5 more 5-minute exercises to complete my objective to create a full hour/ 12 different friendly 5-minute daily guitar exercises. ;^) ♪ The rest will be more focused on OPEN STRINGS AREA demystifying all the "CAGED." patterns within the first 4 frets. The magical G scale sustained open string technique, obviously, by default of CAGED, open string patterns are demystifying the PENTATONIC within them. Some have asked me why I exercise in Bb? Because coming from this clever (late) man Roger Pelletier, that had to do everything in handwriting, my theory is that most probably he noticed that the area on the guitar neck where Bb exercises are executed fits quite naturally space in our fingers without having to spread them too much around and more centered. I think another clever thing is that, with 2 octaves (within the staff with the treble key), you only have to add one line over and one underneath it. To keep the visual to a minimum of ambiguity, with extra lines (I humbly think). ;^) ♪ Hope more people like you will catch up and discover those efficient exercises, 'cause to be honest, there are sooooo... many of those (identical titles ?) in the RU-vid world that it's kind of not appearing anywhere at all, in comparison of these exclusive Steely Dan tutorials I do, that are more exclusive and less plentiful. ;^) ♪ Peace and big-time respect, sir ;^) ♪

Hey there, Mr. Evan Davidson ;^) ♪ Thank you so much for your very humbling interaction/ lovely and appreciated comment. ♪ A lot of work to be almost perfect (lol..!) as precise/ accurate as possible. ♪ If there were more animated tabs like these, I'm pretty sure It would make the world of guitar learning (at large) a process less tedious and friendlier. ♪ I say at large because I've voluntarily dedicated my tabs for Steely Dan (so far). There is so much I can animate when just animating one of these tutorials takes a week/45 hours and more to finalize (on average). ♪ More (50 +) Steely Dan tutorials to be produced shortly (within 1 year and a half). Then attacking many of Donald Fagen's solo career. ♪ Then some Pat Metheny and most probably the whole "The Police." catalog/ their whole 5 albums. ♪ (we'll see once there. Before that my knowledge of Steely Dan music was basically reserved for; *Rikki Don't Lose That Number + Do It Again + Reeling In The Years*♪ ------------------------------------------------------------- When I was (lately?) introduced to the world of the internet in 2010 with FB and Email..., I don't know exactly when and how, but I stumbled upon a RU-vid thumbnail (i guess?) for the album *Two Against Nature*, and I said to myself * Hmmm. Steely Dan, Ok don't know much of them, but heard great things about their musical credibility, and why not, let's check that out* ♪ So this was my epiphany moment where it all started, I was flabbergasted and dazzled by the sound quality of the recordings and the masterful musical composition craftmanship.♪ ------------------------------------------------------------- Funny story of my journey in here; fact, when I started (Sept 20th, 2019) publishing my two first tutorials *Glamour Profession* + * Gaucho* I didn't even know from which album it was from (Lol..) ♪ It's more at the end of *Gaucho's* tutorial process that I asked myself, heck! from which album is that? (I said Oh... same thing/name (Lol..!)) It's from there I started showing the album covers in the intros.♪ As ridiculous as some would think (just never thought about it at first), I always proceeded one by one, meaning (believe it or not) within so many choices, I (instinctively?) decided to undergo doing *Haitian Divorce*, as my third lesson, only to discover again, at the end of my process, that it was from *Gaucho's* album.♪ Then for my fourth tutorial *Babylon Sisters* (don't ask me why?), I said this one I know it's from the album AJA, (and as you can see in the intro) and didn't even bother to verify from which album it was because I was convinced I knew♪ Then got corrected (somewhere in the comment section?) by a SEBscirber of this grotesque mistake, to then discover that this one too, was from *Gaucho's* album.♪ So then I said (should have definitely thought about sooner (lol..!)), OK let's go check out and see what are ALL the songs of the *Gaucho's* album. To discover *Hey Nineteen*, (and said to me, hmmm...I think I heard this one before) + * Third World Man* + *Time Out Of Mind* and *My Rival (love that song)* (But to my ultimate surprise, I said WHAT... *Glamour Profession*, too (Lol..!)) ♪ I said OMG all these songs from this album are soooo... good and didn't take long I had the inspiration to undergo completing all *of Gaucho's* album songs.♪ And from this (late) discovery, I went to check and listen out to all their album's content in detail,/technically all 92 songs of their 9 albums, to then have my official second pill. There was at first listening to at least 80 songs I completely fell in love with and wanted to learn and produce them ALL.♪ -------------------------------------------------- So (indeed tough to choose) to answer your question, I have tendencies to appreciate their later stuff/last five albums (maybe not *Everything Must Go*, even though the songs I like in it are so amazing), and I would include *The Nightfly* in it, has technically (IMO) the same ingredients, team, SD feeling, and expertise.♪ So let's go for the album; #0 - The Nightfly (Lol..!), what a start, but hey, it's honest) #1 - Gaucho #2 - Aja #3 - Two Against Nature #4 - The Royal Scam #5 - Katy Lied #6 - Countdown To Ecstasy #7 - Pretzel Logic #8 - Can't Buy A Thrill #9 - Everything Must Go And now for the songs (Oufff...isn't fair for the order, anything in these ten, are #1's !); #0 - I Got The News #1 - Time Out Of Mind #2 - Aja #3 - My Rival #4 - Everything Must Go #5 - Doctor Wu #6 - Green Flower Street #7 - Pretzel Logic #8 - Maxine #9 - Third World Man --------------------------------------------------- Peace, stay always tuned; the best is yet to come. amigo. Congratulations on a fantastic video/ I was practicing the 2ndguitar and I consider that during the solo, at aproximately the 2:51 marker, the "C" chord should be replaced by a "C/F" (before the Bbmaj7).
