War eigentlich schon sehr spontan. Alle 3 Busse sind zufällig an der selben Raststätte raus und wir haben einfach aus Jux angefangen die Locke zu spielen und dann gings halt los. Sehr spontan eben ;)
I'm a recent convert to this music. Can anyone tell me more about this event? It seems to be an impromptu last concert held in the car park before everyone travels home. It's a superb video. It captures the love that everyone has for this classic tune, particularly the conductor who is absorbed in the music. It looked like a fond farewell to old friends. Germany at it's best. Bravo.

The stuff in the foreground is a bit distracting but who needs to watch great music being played,it's better to sit back and listen to the great march of the better days of the German people(In my opinion)

TheCommunistDragon51 Only anticonstitutional symbols are banned but e.g. in school-books they are still present to teach history. Another fact is that Westphalia never belonged to Prussia they were just annexed. Prussia kept a lot of German states under like Bavaria, Saxony or Württemberg. That's why Bavarians are still calling them "Drecks Praissn" - "dirty Prussians", today. ;-) So one can say that there are a lot of different "cultures". It would be like forcing Scottish' soldiers to wear English uniforms and ban their kilts.
why on earth would it be censored, it has nothing at all too do with the "nazi's or hitler" its a tune from 1770 in prussia about king fredrick the great... the only irony is that hitler admired king fredrick, but fredrick would have vomited all over him, about that fact, they could not have been more different... that is probably the reason, that the "historic german music was sped up and changed slightly too a hypnotic beat, by the nazi's as something recognisable of german history....when germany was previously great, long before the nazis or east german communists"...

It might be seen as an embarrassment by some because Prussian militarism was seen as the good old days. They‘re celebrating the Schützenfest. A tradition dating back to the middle ages when towns had to defend themselves. The local militias were called „Schützen“ (German for „protect“). When they became obsolete, the townsfolk decided to make it a tradition. Every year they choose a „Schützenkönig“ (Schützen King). First they parade through the city to the place where they choose their king. How do you become king? By shooting down a wooden eagle. After that, you get paraded back to the city as the king and then everyone drinks and parties until their is no tomorrow! Kids and adults alike here love this festivity! In the city of Neuss, it‘s even considered more important than Christmas! It‘s essentially a civilian military parade.
