For those who complain about the price: I doubt you've split much wood by hand or used a gas powered splitter which requires you pick up each peice of wood, not to mention the storage & maintanance. I've watched many videos of various splitters & I'm sold on this one. My 70 yr old back thanks you!
Fantastic splitting tool, and no gasoline required. Only problem is the price for me. It is amost twice the price as a Gransfors Bruk Maul. That said I would wager it is better in every measurable sence. I'm sold, but I'm going to have to save a bit for this fine American Made product. Well done on this fine tool. well don't invite every wood chopper to the same dinner party here. I love splitting wood with an ax and as long as you have a good ax and a proper technique you can split any log with ease in my opinion. first if you place the log inside of an old car tire while chopping it it won't fly anywhere. Also if you hit the wood exactly in the center, its also not gonna work too well and so on. Nice invention though...
Yeah, if you're cutting up a dead tree that fell on the side of the road. If the wood you need to get to is up a mountain side you can't drive to, haulin around a big unwieldy tire becomes far less appealing and that fancy chain becomes much more so.
RegisteredGamer Exactly, about the axe. Axes evolved for cutting wood. The angle of the head is about half the angle of a GOOD maul. (Many mauls are el-cheapo instruments of torture. BTDT.) An axe can be used productively for splitting KINDLING- a 4 lb one or bigger. I don't toss bux at fads like this.
My neighbour got one. It was really expensive and I can cut wood 3-4 times faster. I assume based on the video that they really don't know how to use an axe anyway.
