Nock Pinch has serious negative affects on accuracy and arrow flight. The bad part about nock pinch is that it’s so easy to happen to anyone at anytime, like I’ve shown in recent videos. Simple things like, changing to a new arrow, new nock, D-loop swap/slide or even serving slip from extreme heat on your string can cause it and destroy your groupings or ruin a hunt. In this video I talk to you about how to start out in the right place by making sure your first ties are perfect. Then move on to show you the secrets about the bottom nocking point and what makes it perfect for preventing pinch. (I would recommend searching for a video I have called “how to tie nock points to help you correct do that).

I knit the d-loop itself in such a way that there is a small gap with no more than 0.5 with an arrow. I did not notice that the arrow rose, unlike the saddle. Perhaps a softer rope is needed so that she does not shift. I watched the video by the way with Paige Pierce and it seemed to me that she also does not have a saddle inside the d-loop.

I do a full millimeter cause once your d-loop is on and you shoot for a bit. Things settle in the slightest amount.. it is a small amount but I find it does settle. 1mm. Not sure if its tightening the D-loop thay does it. Especially with new replaced center serving, it really settles. It ends up closer together by a hair or 2. Then im left with 0.5mm Perfect

I've only used a nock set on the bottom, and I find over time the d loop starts to slide down and pinch the arrow more. Would the two nock sets ensure that doesn't happen?

How about a video showing proper nock onto the string eg. serving size,strand count of string etc...I feel mine is a little tight. 28 strands X99 and 0.018" serving. x nocks.

I’ve tied my top and bottom nocks w/ some clearance (and put on a D-loop) like you teach, but after I draw back a couple of times my nock(s) slip and the gap goes away. I’ve retied multiple times w/ the same result. How does one prevent things from slipping? So frustrating!!

Hey John, could you please comment about the centre serving diameter and nock fit. what should be the correct holding fit ? Thank you

The arrow should snap on and not fall off when pointed straight down. But then you should be able to turn the arrow without the string twisting. He has another video on this, just redid my center serving and nock points last night.

Curious if you ever use a constrictor knot for nock points. And are there any benefits you’ve seen from tieing the nocking point with that style knot you tie?
@stewartw7248
@stewartw7248 Год назад
The disadvantage of the constrictor knot is both nock points are the same size. Having the bottom one longer or bigger helps maintain down pressure is my understanding. I was first recommended this method by Dave Stepp in the early 2000s. My scores became very competitive after this change. Unfortunately a bad wrist injury working on a landscaping job made me loose consistent pinpoint accuracy. Many people have no idea how much following Dudley's advice can truly help. He is teaching things that many wouldn't share.

@@stewartw7248 when I use the constrictor knot I always make the bottom Nock set a little longer then the top. I have also in the pass used different size serving to tie the nick set so that the the top Nick set uses the smaller of that 2 serving material
@stewartw7248
@stewartw7248 Год назад
@kylehoward5452 sounds like doing it that way should work well as long as you are not too far different on the extremes from the serving size since you would want it to grip well but also not slide between the serving. I do use a constrictor knot on my recurve and longbow. Can fine tune the tension easier on D97 strings.

Why don’t we use torque-less D Loops any more. Watched a video that George Royals made, like 12 yr ago, and he was installing one. Thought you may know.

I’m going to assume that the slop needed between the points varies based on the draw length, as a long draw length will pinch more than a short length, due to the angle of the strings from the cams at full draw, right? Or is that difference negligible?
@stanleyguedes2336
@stanleyguedes2336 Год назад
Interesting question. A 27" vs 33" ata at 30" draw length has the string angle differ by 4.6 degrees only, so I would assume it's negligible.

All three of my Mathews bows needed 3/16” nock high. Is this me, a hand position/grip? Or should my arrow rest/arrow be higher across the berger hole to start? Or is the higher nock point above level is normal?

That style creates more downward pressure which can be good. BUT it also means if you ever need to re-tie your dLoop then you loose your top mocking point.
