hmm..good tips, I really thought I was doing something wrong or the mold was defective. Seems like a lot of work though, I can't imagine sellers doing this.

Hi, when do you remove the sods ash? After the 48 hours after making your soap or after it cures 4 to 6 weeks? No one is stating

That depends, this soap had soda ash on top even before I took it out of the mold. In most cases you can see the ash clearly after 3-5 days after cutting, can treat it right then or wait for it to cure a little longer and then treat it. The best case scenario that I would suggest is cut , cure it for a week, check to see if there is any ash, if so treat it and let it cure the remaining weeks.
