I’ve never been there, never heard of it either, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. I hope the water and current isn’t like it was for *The Pirate and The Princess, that was hard to watch, not the same place but still rough water and current. As I’ve read, sounds a bit tricky, be careful. Can’t wait to see it.

Absolutely love both of your channels, Brenton! So much fun! I’m in northern MN and have always wanted to make the trip from Silver Bay to the Apostles. Lots of open Superior to cross. Make me nervous to say the very least. I’m hoping your trip will instill a little confidence to go for it one of these summers! Safe travels! Can’t wait for the video. Maybe we’ll run into each other sometime when you’re over on this side of the big lake.

I've been out on Superior in a 16' canoe, (in my crazy youth), but only a half mile off shore. It was sunny and everything was ok until all of a sudden the wind jumped up to 25mph. Headed for shore immediately, but the swells ran up so high we couldn't see the shore part of the time. Made it back safe of course, but what you are doing is much more dangerous. I hope your trip is easy and safe, but be sure to pack extra flotation devices, lol.

Dress warm... the lake is still "enjoying" winter cold, and tonight and Saturday night are supposed to be clear... meaning cold. Keep an eye on the sky... satellites, meteors, maybe some aurora action as well.

You must love living in the UP! So much to do up there. I'm going to be visiting for the first time in the spring, staying in Brimley on Whitefish Bay. Cant wait for my adventure! Wish I was brave enough to head out to a lighthouse like that! Awesome video!

@@backwatersandbackroads its abandoned now, if I'm not mistaken? Just left behind and not being restored? There are several in the lakes that are worth going to see. I'm so fascinated by these. Yeah, it would be good to get out there again!

@@ladyofjazz448 stannard rock is more/less abandoned. It's easily one of the hardest lighthouses to reach...not to mention climb!

@@backwatersandbackroads yes, it's very remote. When you were out there, did it look like it had sustained a lot of damage? It didn't look as rugged as Waugoshance Light. Perhaps it can be snatched up by some preservation society and restored someday.

Sounds good. My only concern is...those driftwood-collecting folks might return and mess up your beach while you're gone. : > )

A welded boat will be problem free for a lifetime. A quality fiberglass boat (like a CD) will serve you well too, but not quite to the level a welded will in my experience

Cool man...how far is the trip? Us Louisiana folks dont know where "Standard Rock" is.

Hi Gary, Stannard rock is approx. 40 miles out in the middle of Lake Superior (a little shorter distance from Manitou Island, where I left from) it's a very remote place. A reef comes up from the bottom of Superior, only a couple feet in spots (one spot actually above by a foot or so...I have pictures) right in a shipping lane too! Ships kept running into it...so they built a lighthouse on it. It was a real feat of the day. Almost done with the video my friend :)
