So true. Man can't live in himself but must go out. That's why two greatest commandments are relational, to love God and to love our neighbour. Only then we can realise our identity because we are freed from endless possibility of contemplating yourself in yourself only for the sake of yourself which is ultimately meaningless. Great video.

The Florensky quote is powerful, its like the vail of pride is lifted off your eyes when you realize that it is the ultimate form of evil: being self worship and self relational exclusion of the self.

And no other sin infects the body of believers so easily, effortlessly, even unconsciously, like pride. It's clear how universal it is as many other traditions posit it as the problem of the "ego" that seeks to bolster itself for its own sake.

Both Maximus and Plotinus would say that even Aristotle's thought thinking itself is not really a monad and still enters into a relation because what is given to thought is logically distinct from the power of thought itself

This is a great video 👍This is why humility Is the greatest of all virtues. "‭ And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." Lucifer was God's greatest angel before he gave in to himself.

I think the problem with pride is that it doesn't go all the way. It's never truly in pure self-relation, because if it were it'd destroy itself by realizing the truth of its own being as falsehood. So insofar as pride sustains itself by never truly facing itself, it seems that pride finds its ultimate manifestation in cowardice. In this way, pride is not necessarily pure self-relation as such, but the rejection of the Truth of pure self-relation. The more I think about it though (and here my thinking is very shaky), the more it seems that the structure of sin itself follows a three pronged pattern. Because if pride finds its sustainment in cowardice, then what causes cowardice? I think it's faithlessness, but then what causes faithlessness? Pride. So we have this circular loop in which Pride sustains itself through cowardice, which sustains itself though faithlessness, which sustains itself through pride again. And this is kind of terrifying because it reveals that sin tries to take for its structure the very structure of Truth itself. The truth it reveals of itself by this very structure, however, is the truth it exists to deny: being as communion. This is why the truth of sin is its own undoing, because it reveals its opposite. And I think the reason why sin inevitably reveals its opposite, is because existence itself entails relationality, making I=I fundamentally untenable. Meaning that in order for sin to function at all it must mediate itself in some way, and the way it does so is through the vicious nature of its own irrationality. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this because my thinking goes all over the place sometimes.

So what's the solution to I = I? It can't simply be to look externally to others. Self-reflectivity isn't the problem. Egoistic self-absorption and false identification is the problem. We don't know who we are. I = I AM is the answer. Self-reflection is a doorway to the solution of discovering who you truly are. Only once you've traversed the inwards depths of Being can you move externally and love your neighbor as yourself. Then you will know by experience that you and your neighbor are not separate.

I don’t know if this is what you were going for but I believe that Self-Reflection = Self-Judgement which should be to the standard of Christ. Everyday we must look in the mirror and radical compare ourselves to Christ, if we see the world and if we see ourselves, then we must strive to repent and change our ways, so that we may walk in the way of Christ

Look what happened to Lucifer? The original king of sin. His pride, he valued himself higher than God so now soon he'll will be his. All sins come from Lucifer.
