How long has it been like this
Lost and found and lost yet again
Here in the heat of a stolen kiss
I make my home
How long has it been this way
On and on as the days slip away
Oh lost in language oh lost in song
I'm gone
I am drawn to the western shore
Where the light moves bright upon the tide
To the lullaby and the ceaseless roar
And the songs that never die
Love waits for no one, there's so little time
It's cruel and elusive and so hard to find
And moving further and further each day
I'm gone
I am drawn to the western shore
Where the light moves bright upon the tide
To the lullaby and the ceaseless roar
And the songs that never die
Music & Lyrics by Robert Plant.

I just love the scene where he is tempted to kiss her (when he confessed his love) but he doesn’t and I think this is just wholesome. Because he doesn‘t try to take her over with a kiss (seems to be normal nowadays in modern movies) but you also can see that she realizes that she‘s maybe in love with him too because she moves forward to him. And I just think, that this is a masterpiece of artwork!

right on... though I think the very closing is stronger, after he's asked her hand and they meet again at the sunrise - instead of the cliché kiss they nod slightly and their resonating minds kiss.

Jane: One of these days, Lizzy, someone will catch your eye and then you'll have to watch your tongue. After those words were said, someone's eyes were captive, and one's tongue was never the same. Look at the way he looked at her the first time. It's there, unspoken but louder and clearer than the music in the ball.
@LesleyPB
@LesleyPB 2 года назад
The very reason her Father had the ball in the first place. And Mrs Gardiner to Lizzy. “That flavour is very bitter”. And the sculpture of her that was veiled over the face. I don’t think Darcy moved there, I think she forgot him - obliterated him out of her memory, from hate. When the Gardiner’s took her to his house, she remembered. Why she laughed getting out the carriage. Mr Gardiner “You can’t hold him having money, against him”. She remembered her home. Everyone knew, except her. His sister was the key, they both Love the piano.

@YourMajesty143

@@LesleyPB - Her father didn't throw any balls in the movie, the first was the Meryton Assembly which is a country dance with an entry fee for anyone who wishes to dance and meet their neighbors, they're held regularly and sponsored by locals. The 2nd party was an actual ball hosted by Mr. Bingley at Netherfield Hall, his new residence. And that sculpture wasn't of her face, such a commission of an unmarried woman on display would've been scandalous and would've required her to sit for it like a portrait. We also have no idea why she giggled when she stood up in the carriage in front of Darcy's mansion. It's more likely it was a nervous laugh at realizing how massively rich he is, more than she thought to accuse him of to her aunt and uncle. But to be fair, the excessive giggling like a little school girl (as acted by Kiera Knightley) is out of character of the more mature version of Lizzy that we find in the book. Book Lizzy IS playful but in a witty charming way, not necessarily in the juvenile characterization done in the 2005 film.

His eyes are the most expressive I think I’ve EVER seen. He doesn’t need to say a word. He’s absolutely incredible. The fact he didn’t kiss her after he proposed was perfect. A kiss there would have ruined the impact of that whole scene. Not many men have that composure and restraint and it’s lost on the current generation......not for the better.

A lot of people who love the 1995 film criticize the 2005 Mr. Darcy for being too puppy-eyed and too sympathetic. And I get that they feel the 1995 Darcy is more reflective of the book, BUT I do think that the 1995 film is representing Darcy through Lizzy's eyes, whereas the 2005 Darcy shows us all the signs that an observant person (like her friend Charlotte) is able to pick up as clues for Darcy's true feelings. For me, the 2005 version reveals how easily Lizzy's pride distorted a conflicted shy and reserved man into a soulless cad. Perception can be skewed by "First Impressions", which was the original title of Jane Austen's book.

There is some controversy over what he exactly said. Some people believe he said "perfectly tolerable." Although LIzzie quotes him as saying "barely tolerable." I guess either way it was insulting, but softened if he used the word "perfectly."
@YourMajesty143
@YourMajesty143 Год назад
He did say "perfectly tolerable", but Lizzie isn't a reliable source of characterization. Her wounded pride skews alot of her perception of him, which is a pattern we see throughout the movie, this just being the first of many misattributions she makes of him.

And our natural response when someone caught our eyes is to avoid or fight our feelings so maybe that's why he "insulted" Lizzie by calling her "barely tolerable".

Not to be dramatic, but P&P changed my life. When I read the book and watched the movie at ~19, it gave me so much purpose. It pushed me to want to perfect myself so I could deserve my “future” significant other (if that makes sense). I was tired of being a lazy/antisocial bum and this movie flipped the switch in my head that made me realize that I had to work on myself big time to make myself feel like I was worthy of another’s love. It also made me realize I was bisexual. While watching the Keira/Mathew scenes, I found them both so breathtakingly charming and could not decide who I was more in love with...Darcy/Lizzie were my early 20’s bi fantasy. I always read the book when I’m in the mood for scorching british wit. Jane Austen is a pure genius.

No. It hardly stayed true to the book. Far too much to put into just a movie which is why I believe the miniseries had a far better adaptation. Also it matched the mannerisms of the time better. I had already seen the 1995 mini-series when I saw this and I have to say I was disappointed. The cinematography was beautiful but beyond that the Bennetts looked like they lived on a dirt farm

Denise Consiglio If we’re going for historical accuracy, this was before any semblance of standard sanitary measures... garbage was left in the streets, raw sewage was dumped into the rivers and lakes contaminating the water supply, and rats were rampant through even the wealthiest households... I prefer the depiction of a romanticized farm house to a historically accurate version lol. Plus, doesn’t it give you a new perspective on the ‘95 version’s scene of Mr Darcy taking a swim? 🥴😬😅

I loved to see the lengths and breaths he went to in order for her to change her views of him! The intense argument they had when he wanted to kiss her so badly but dare not! I dare say P&P is an all time classic.

Joe Wright just got it with this movie. All the nuances from the pianoforte music, to the twitch in Darcy’s hand after touching hers to help her in the carriage, to the lightening storm scene with the crescendo of thunderclaps every time he insulted her or her family, especially her father. Brilliant....my fave movie of all time.....

They we're so apt for Darcy and Elizabeth ..they we're perfect..only Kiera Knightley and Mathew machayden could have played it.. And mode of diaogue delivery we're just amazing..I fell for Mr.Darcy. This movie was so great.., alluring, captivating that I went with it. When dialogues like Mr. Darcy," I love...I love u ardently." My God..it got me goosebumps. Another the very last. Mr.Darcy,"So how are u today Mrs. Darcy?" Elizabeth,"perfectly, completely and incandescently happy." 😍😍😍

When they have that argument and she told him about all the things she felt he was guilty of - I remembered watching that scene for the 10th time and everytime screaming at the television "that's right! Tell him about his a$$!" I still get emotional at the father/daughter conversation Elizabeth has with her Dad! Pride and Prejudice is an ageless classic.

The part when she's alone walking during the sunrise to think and enters Mr. Darcy from the distance just for her... I got a happy a teary eyed and even screaming in my head (didn't want to startle my hubby! Lol)..."Run to him! Run into Mr. Darcy's arms"!! But I'm glad she didn't, just seeing the look on her face when she saw him walking towards her, just beautiful and thrilled! Thanks to Jane Austen! 💖... My hubby gave me all her books in a pretty box for a Christmas present a couple of years ago, I need to finish reading her books. 😉💖
