Is Priestcraft simply getting paid for teaching the gospel or is there more to it? In this video we discuss the true nature of Priestcraft and how we can watch for the signs and avoid it.
I have to max out my volume on my noise-cancelling headphones to be able to hear you above my ambient sound. Turn up the master volume and let the viewers turn it down if they need to. Better for you to go high and have us turn it down than for you go low and us not be able to go high enough to hear it.
My iPhones speakers vol is at 40% and my 9 month old in her exercise saucer bouncing and I can hear it just fine. Mind you this is without noise canceling. If you are partially deaf or your ambient sound is obnoxious, turn on closed captioning.
I would just like to say how much my wife and I appreciate the content and perspective that we receive from gospel lessons. being "active" members all our lives your discussions have motivated us to learn more and to dig deeper into the scriptures. Please dismiss anyone who criticizes what you are doing or your motives. We consider Gospel lessons to be a valuable gift and a blessing! Please continue to uplift and inspire your audience to do more and to be more spiritually.
As an editor/production guy myself, I think you and your daughter are doing a fine job. I gain some really good insights and you make me think about things more.
Is there any reason that the definition of a priestcraft should be limited to traditionally religious content? We usually think of it in the context of teaching from the scriptures, but doesn't it apply to all teaching of any content? For example, The ideological politician, The Instagram influencer, a professor in a secular subject, or the podcaster, would we say that they are guilty of priest craft if their motivations are primarily for profit and fame? There's a lot of overlap between religion, politics, science, morality, social justice, etc., There really is no good way to draw a hard line between them. if you start thinking of priest craft in this expansive way, focusing on the motivation of people rather than the content (it's still teaching or preaching), you start to realize our world is absolutely full of priestcrafts, just as it is full of misinformation. And we certainly don't see many of these famous people choosing to labor with their own hands for their support, like King Benjamin did.
I appreciate very much everything I learn from your lessons. I’m always in contact with Heavenly Father appreciating His blessings. I’m thankful for all my gospel teachers and for the beautiful scriptures we read and review. I’ve learned so much through lessons shared. Thank you for your hard work.
I am grateful that i found this channel..It is indeed wonderful to learn not only did i gain knowledge but i also recognized what i should be careful of about myself..thank you brother, you are a blessing to all who wants to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ
I would just like to thank you for all you do. Since I have kids, job, ranch.. I have so little time for qulity stud of the gospel, this really helps me
Thank you again, for your example and reassuring words. The Spirit flows and many of my own worries are calmed as I listen. By small and simple ways we can be a part of this great work.
This was a wonderful video... thank you. ♡♡♡ These videos you make definitely bring me closer to the Spirit and give me so much more understanding and insight. Tonight I binge watched your channel because I needed to catch up!! Lol. I always appreciate your hard work and the beautiful content that comes from it. This is obviously one of your talents you are sharing with others.
I owe you an apology. I made a comment a few weeks ago which was highly critical of you monetizing your channel. My comment was so critical, I doubt you missed it. I’m going to search for the comment and delete it. I’m headed into work now, however, I’ll delete the comment tonight. After watching the content above concerning priest craft, I’ve realized how wrong I was. In criticizing you, I hastily made a decision based on the very ideas you’ve presented regarding compensation. Your reasons are just. I was wrong. Please forgive me. I’m ashamed of what I did, and will be far more careful going forward. I’m sorry brother. Update: Comment Deleted❤️
It's wonderful when people can humble themselves and apologize. Very sweet. I'm certain he and his family forgive you, it's always a delight to see someone apologize, and shows the power of forgiveness going both ways. Hopefully he will take the time to see this comment and reply.
I truly appreciate your comment. I don't often read the comments. Some of them can be less than motivating. But I felt like I should tonight and I read this. Thank you so much.
You made a comment about YODA. Guess what? It is not an urban legend! In the late 1980's I worked with the Cousin of one of the men that worked for Industrial Light and Magic. ILM was the company started by George Lucas to do the films for Star Wars. YODA WAS 100% based on PRESIDENT SPENCER W. KIMBALL. No urban myth about it. I know for a fact. 😯 💙 And, I love what thou are doing. Especially, especially especially, that you go to the Prophets of this dispensation for your references. President Nelson always says that Joseph is THE Prophet of this dispensation. I love that about him and I love that your first resource is usually Joseph. Please continue the good work and extend my thanks to every member of your family. I know that your productions are a group effort. May God our Father continue to bless you in these endeavors. 💙 to all.
Now that that’s out of the way.....can we get back to gospel topics? I really enjoy these videos and it helps deepen my understanding. I love the “last days” type topics! I’m not very familiar with them as much, because we don’t talk about them enough at church, so I love the in-depth explanations and backing with scriptures! You’re doing a great job!
Your testimony of the Atonement of Christ speaks volumes to the listener in regards to your vantage of the structure of LDS! It’s organized biblically, exactly how you’d expect the government in the Millennium…without the Boss! Ya’ll are thinking Celestial ❤ VANA Edit: Posted to next video, I was watching Atonement
After watching this teaching about Priestcraft to near the end, I had thought that you weren't going to include the reason for your RU-vid channel teachings in it, then you mentioned it right at the end: to help others study scripture and even better - and not just your daughters. Your kindness will always be rewarded.
I have found that those accusing others of priest craft are guilty of it themselves, setting themselves as a light. Thank you for your channel. Thank you for your insights.
As previous commenters suggest, Volume up please - with a hearing aid, I have to amp up an external speaker and my Mac airBook to get volume - I can then focus on and learn your wonderful content, instead of being frustrated with not being able to hear comfortably. Thank you
I knew you had expenses with producing your videos. Thank you for explaining your motivations and what you do with your profits. Love your videos brother keep up the good work
Brother, don’t let some comments get to you. Continue your great work of sharing gospel truths. Besides, what a brilliant idea to have your daughter edit the videos!!
Love your videos and I DO feel like they help me grow closer to God. Instead of watching pointless RU-vid videos I spend time thinking about the gospel!
Can you raise the audio levels for future videos? You voice over is too quite to listen to on my laptop compared to other videos. Keep them coming and your daughter is doing a great job editing.
I think about how opinions and things are presented. One of the reasons I like your channel is that you use the scriptures but also stay away from pushing your opinions and conclusions as truth. I have watched similar channels and videos where people talk about the second coming and state things like "the spirit confirmed this to me" while talking about some incredibly speculative topic like time frames or events. Then people in the comments parrot the same. I think statements like that "set themselves up as a light" and prey on those very easily influenced. I'm grateful you are careful with how you present your ideas which I really appreciate.
So true so many of these channels are mingling scriptures and come follow me with the selling of books or paid speaking opportunities don’t trust them right from the start and makes it hard for me to believe the message
Hi Kevin, Thank you for all the great vids you put out. You referenced a book in some of your older vids as "The Teachings" can you specify that a bit better? I have heard it referenced in a lot of my favorite vids and want to get a copy of it for my self.
as a pro-mormon not anti mormon who attend church, I now live by faith, grace and only then good works come forth, by their fruits ye shall know them. Without activating grace first, priesthood could end up priestcraft and pharisee driven by our own rightousness, pride and ego. We must surrender of filthy rags of rightousness and enter into christ rightousness thus the enabling power of the holyghost IS our strength to live obedience. Its a free gift to activate grace and to know the truth and the truth shall set you free. To be called true christian latter day saints, we must accept the gospel 1 corithians 15:1-4, and activate grace otherwise its another gospel and another angel let that man be accursed the bible says in galitians 1. 8-9 from australia.
My name is Kent Batty and I think you’re awesome and amazing for what you do with the money and keep it up content cuz alot of mormons don’t know about alot of things you talk about anyway thanks Mormon brother what is your name
The part where you said, "don't rely on any teachings where the source claims secret knowledge" hit me hard. I have had this accusation lobbed at me many many times, for sharing LDS doctrines, teachings, and scriptures that are not understood in mainstream Christianity, and not explicitly spelled out in the Bible. Namely, water baptism, degrees of glory, temple practices, Pre-mortal existence, need for a restoration, etc. How does one share LDS teachings to those who are staunch mainstream Christians, who will only believe the doctrine if it can be explicitly proved by the Bible, without being told that you are adding to the teachings of the Bible and claiming to have some secret knowledge not revealed in the bible?
In the end you cannot. Even if you use all the scriptures that discuss those topics because of the precepts of men or their preachers they will argue with it. Take for instance the doctrine of Faith. Faith if it has not works is dead. James chapter 2 is dedicated to the subject and yet there are many that believe all you need to do is believe in Jesus. They disregard all the other scriptures. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. James 2:24 New Testament Scriptures Another interesting topic is how many books does the Bible reference to that are not in the Bible.;)
Although, getting paid for preaching speculative assumptions on scripture can eventually bring a temptation to a person making them to eventually build up churches and followings that lead people slyly onto a path that is not the gospel or to believe things that are not able to verified due to lack of what has been revealed to prophets. Many of these signs of the times videos are doing just that. Beware the path he mentions at 11:05 in this video.
He have available english subtitles just press the 3 dots on top of the video then click on "[CC]" or "Captions". So far I've seen all his videos have auto generated subtitles.
An essential element in priestcraft is that the teachings are not by the Spirit, nor did they come from the Spirit, yet the individual teaches/preaches it for a gain.
I’ve enjoyed watching your videos, and I understand that you state that you monetize your channel so you can have more resources to do more good. I just thought you may want to know that you are being used to advertise things that you may not support. There are a number of examples from the ads that I have seen, but I decided to post this comment because I had just watched another of your videos and the advertisement that I was required to watch in order to see your video was for the alcoholic beverage “Mike’s Hard Lemonade.” I just thought you’d like to know that your messages are being used to put other things in front of your viewer’s eyes.
Priest Craft is when you use the gospel to get paid. You get paid to teach the gospel or you get paid to give a blessing. Basically you're being paid or taking credit for what God or Christ has done.
It is if you use it to get gain for your OWN purposes and not lift or help the kingdom, otherwise stated as "Zion". It is clear that MOTIVATION is the key. These videos ARE NOT PRIESTCRAFT. If you do not understand that look at some of those preaching on TV. _______ comes to mind. When they sport Rolex watched and Armani suits, then you see Priestcraft.
I thought priest craft was witchcraft or females taking on priesthood authority or men taking on priesthood authority without actually having keys of authority. Dang I got muddled up bad. D:
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. 1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
Well, you can't say your kids are being taught Gospel lesson stealthily anymore after this video as I'm sure they edited this one as well and heard that. Cover blown, but still a great tool. 🙂
Some years ago, I wanted to know where the name 'Kirtland' came from, and/or, what it meant. I found out that both the names 'Kirt', as well as 'Kirk' mean 'church' in the Scottish language. Just add 'land' afterwards, and I realized that Kirtland literally means 'Churchland'. Perhaps Alexander Campbell, who was a Presbyterian minister, of whom Sidney Rigdon had previously been a follower (a member of Campbell's congregation, previously), perhaps had given the city it's name. (BTW, 'Cambpell' itself is a Scottish name that means 'Crooked Mouth', like 'Cameron', which is one of my ancestral names, means 'Crooked Nose'). Hence, our first temple was named after the city it was built in, which means 'Churchland', and its in Ohio. Since learning that, I have long thought that it was (apparently, but, for men, an unintended allusion to yhe Americas (both anciently, as well as now), being (then, as well as now) a land with many churches--implying to me a 'religious' land of many 'beliefs', whether those beliefs have anything to do with God, or are just aedently held. Such 'religiosity typifies MANY 'beliefs, whether it has to do with a ling running grudge match between Lamanites & Nephites, as in Utah-BYU sports, Democrats vs Republicans, Capitalism vs Socialism, etc. The US is the 'Procter & Gamble' (which is also headquartered in Ohio--the Lord's reference to "the Ohio" to me suggests a possible Nephite origin maybe for that name too), since the company, Procter & Gambel has long been known for selling prododucts, like soap, under different brand names, that target market market niches covering most all of a given market, so they 'own' a given consumer product segment, be it soap, coffee, or what have you. The "Church of the Devil" is NOT just a single entity, but an amalgamation (confluence) of many! "So it is "religion" you are seeking?"
@@herlysarmiento9863 I'm sure it could just as easily begin with a random list alluding to one's family's 10 favorite beaches they have visited in their travels around the world! Beaches and world travel may make one appear pursuing something 'popular', because who doesn't like "beaches" (if not just the idea of them)? And beaches are imagined in the mind to be sunny, pleasant places. And mentioning one's travels around the world with one's family suggests an existence of wealth (or at least being well enough off), to have and enjoy luxury and ease. And hence, a source of envy. These sound like status trophies that people of the world are drawn to. That, to me, sounds perhaps more like one who, in their own way, imagine themselves 'legends' in their own mind (if not in their own time), putting their wet finger up into the wind to detect which way it blows, and then position themselves to be in front of a crowd who will heap praise and acclaim on them, many social media 'likes' and RU-vid view counts. Such may be more inclined to fawn after those in the great and spacious building, who 'dress for success' and in this day, have especially their daughters found in STEM programs, learning coding, (because they have learned from school teachers, and parents too, good money comes from having a good job. And that comes with an appropriate sought after set of tools in one's skill set; so girls & women can make better than average money. And, thereby they can "have anything in this world, for money", as someone somewhere else also suggests. Never mind that making bank has become almost universally more sought after, and hence more important for women, even among many members of the Church, than making babies. Christ's admonition that no man can serve two masters, applies not only to men; but to wo-men also! And they will likely not have more than 2, 3 or 4 children (that last number being given as a number to NOT quit having children at, by Ezra Taft Benson- The Lord did not say to multiply and replenish the earth if it is convenient, or if you are wealthy, or after you have gotten your schooling, ...or until you have four children. (I have noticed among members of the Church, those from South America have been well indoctrinated that two is typically enough. My son married a wife from Peru, a nephew one from Chile, another nephew (on my wife's side of the family) from Ecuador. In ALL cases, to date at least, NONE of these three couples have had but two children. Notice among General Authorities called from South America, rarely has such a couple from there had more than just two (at least, any more)! Such is pushed in even 'saintly sanctioned print', including in the Deseret News., etc.-and referring to those in the 'great and spacious building (of which many residences have become ever more suggestive of) and the broad ways', whose inhabitants are "lifted high above others, at least in their own minds," who seem trending towards holding themselves up as lights to follow, which is priestcraft-at least in secular pursuits, if not strictly religious ones.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Jude 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
Salvation=Paradise on Earth is so near! You suffer,I also and we all.Just Endure!Time short!! Repent now-stop your wicked ways.God:"Who is calling My Name will be Saved:Krist Yeshua Yahushua and Holly Father:YHWH Yah Elohim Adonai.God gave authority to people: call His Name and satan will go away from you.
I did see some critical comments on your other videos about RU-vid monetization and your channel. I wouldn't stress it. Creating and editing content is a huge labor and some compensation doesn't bother me. Also, people need to understand that unless you amass huge numbers of subscribers, we ain't talking about Millionaire Acres here.....
I think the amount also matters. Take the "living stipend" given to the general authorities and apostles... 120K/year seems a little excessive to me. I know I could live a lot better and be raising my family with that paltry 120K/year. Seeing as that is almost double what my family earns. My wife has a masters degree and works professionally. I have never seen righteous explanation for it, just sad excuses.
