Primal Scream were and are such a great band. You can hear all the influences just pouring out, unapologetically- the Rolling Stones, Dylan, Kristofferson, country, soul, gospel... they just let it all out and celebrate it.
Im 79. Play this and Im sixteen again. Such a beautiful lady and wonderful music. Takes me back to when I was a teenager with bleached hair and no worries! Thank you You Tube.
@@AntonMuller So lovely to hear from you. Playing this on all the awful news of those people drowned in the Channel and feeling so sad. But put this on and takes my mind off and hope Boris can get an answer to the terrible problem of getting these people over here without such an awful nightmarish journey. How can I put up my tree and celebrate Christmas with so much sadness. With best wishes to you. Jillian.
I was lucky to call Duffy and Throb my friends...beautiful beautiful souls ❤..Duffy loved his son Louis and Aston villa...Throb loved Manchester United and his Les Paul ❤...I miss two great friends ❤
Met Bobby once at a Stooges giglooking back he was very tolerant of me pestering him whilst I was off my head and trying to gatecrash wherever he was going, he happily signed my baccy packet, winked at me and went on his way. And that drug binge landed me in rehab 🤦🏻 now I’m 18month clean and sober! Much respect to the last great rock n roll band ✊
@@gemma6166 yep true story but technically it was Iggy pop & half of QOTSA not the stooges! At the royal Albert hall of all places for a punk gig.😂 It's a shameful brag that I'm part of an elite few that has shot up at the royal Albert but I'm clean now so I think it's alright!
Which Charts? I think the way between from out- and back- to any charts authored the best of the band. This is much to different and nice for mainstream charts, imo.
I'm just getting in to more of primal screams songs only ever new rocks just recorded move on up ,and now country girl . Great catchy track . Good sort . Hell yeah . Sydney Australia .22/8/2023 ❤❤😂
This is a song I used to play for my country girl wife. I remember the day it came out! Love it! Gonna blast it for her now for a trip down memory lane.
saw these guys at the SECC it was fucking mental and when this came on every pint was thrown in the air and the place went berserk., Fucking love Scotland! CYOG's @@Anonymous-Joker74
How I agree. Looking at a new cd of me in 1962 with blonde hair and so slim so like the beautiful lady in the recording although she was much more lithe than me and now at 78 barely managing to get out for a walk I say make the most of being young and beautiful! I do however get a thrill from this recording and dance to the amazing music! Jillian.
@@Fireglo Haha oh dear, my looks have fluctuated thoughout my life so I know how it feels to be both ugly and attractive. Now at my age, not saying what it is, the ageing process is getting me down, so looking into cosmetic procedures. It doesn't have to get too worse
It was a hit because of its use by TV stations during the 2006 World Cup. It's not the type of song that would have become a hit normally. It was like when a Singing in the Rain remix became a hit for a couple of weeks after its use by the Britain's Got Talent winner. It's not a song that would have become a hit normally it got given attention through other means.
Almost 1 million views right now. Still suprised it doesn´t have more views. Maybe people forgot how great UK Indie Rock (Britpop) was cool until that time (mid 00´s).
Love this band. I was just a teen when I got into them and understood that behind the jingly stuff was some power. Went to work in East Kilbride in my 20s. Meat storage plant. Grim. Heroin helped. This song gets me excited, although I can't stop hearing Auld Lang Syne.
Concur wholeheartedly, she's a jealous mistress but treated with love and respect heroin is the best drug in the world. Mother nature's gift to us all.
@@allenkyme9885 If you can take heroin without it taking over your life for decades, you're not appreciating it properly. Most of my adult life addicted, people dropping dead all over the place, and STILL the worst I can say is "it's not _usually_ a good idea, for _other_ people." And I'm not even Scottish! If life were *any* good at all, there'd be no need for heroin and it would have been forgotten thousands of years ago, but life is a massive monsoon of piss and disappointment. And all in, smack's still not worth it. You never get back the lovely feeling you started off with, and it doesn't seem to be because of tolerance. Sometimes if you go a year or so clean, you can recapture that feeling, but only for a couple of sessions. Then you're back pissing your life away. Again, if life deserved any better, that would be a bad thing. It's only because life's a waste of time that heroin being a waste of time is acceptable. ANYway... can we perhaps have a thread with Scottish people in it that *doesn't* immediately devolve into being able heroin? Smack is like the 21st century's shortbread. This is the kind of Scottish devolution where you revert to the primeval swamp.
I’d never heard this song until yesterday when it was played on the radio (although I was around in 2006 when it came out) and now I’m hooked - it’s just brilliant.
Instrumental version of this is legendary, much better than original. "You Produce - Country Girl (Backing track)" is something I play for everyone in a gym class, and it's one of the few songs no one has ever complained about.
KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON............... (Prefer to see the original version where she has a line of dust! Funniest bit of the vid is when it kicks in and she starts hopping about the bed haha)
