I feel like you skipped a big part on Angron, Rho, you never even acknoweledged what his purpose could have originally been WITHOUT the nails

I think Vulkan would have been assigned governance of the far fringes of the Imperium. He would not be called upon very often to do the Imperium's bidding but instead would be assigned to build up the various worlds on the edge of the galaxy. There, he could take charge of making sure the citizens of the imperium are safe and dedicate himself to helping to build up the far flung human colonies. Corax would be the Imperium's recon. They would patrol the outer edges of the imperium and make sure any threats are seen before they appear in space. They would be the spies for the external threats as opposed to the Alpha Legion spies against internal threats.

In his retirement Vulkan would run an Eldar kindergarden 🔥🔥🔥

Corax was also the only primarch contemplating relinquishing command of his legion, he would absolutely pursue something non-war related.

I think Lorgar, without Chaos corruption would have been a great unifier of people. I think he's being sold really short here.

Ferrus would be between the best warlords ever after the great crusade, always with an eye on technology and the natural bridge from Emp to Mechanicum.

I think that both Lorgar and Horus' fate would be driven by what stage Lorgars plan failed at.

I think that given Big E's capacity to revive Primarchs with at least Malcador's help and a lot of effort, Angron could have been killed, the Nails taken out of his body, then his soul put back in place. With the World Eaters having further Nail implants banned, and all living Nail recipients send on missions to do something useful while being culled. Magnus' Legion on the other hand, are subject to a Chaos-inflicted curse. The Thousand Sons would have to be completely replaced to get around that.

When I commented in part 1 of this, I received a reply regarding the Primarchs retiring to mansions after the Great Crusade. Yes, the Primarchs would need time to destress from their rigors. The Primarchs roles after such a sojourn. I made some of my own observations. I would think a team up between Ferrous, Perterabo & Vulcan. The artisan skills of these 3 could have catipolted mankinds return to a technological revival. Not AI, but technology to aid the Emporers Web way project. Hhhhhhmmmm, Magnus is a tricky angle. Too much in the "what I think is right, is so!" Dangerous ground. Angron sadly is a lost cause because of the butchers nails. Beyond placing Angron in stasis, what could be done? Guilliman..............running the Adeptus Terra to help govern the Imperium. Montarion is one I could not see a future after the Great Crusade.

I can see Corax working with the Emperor on whatever gene-enhanced version of humanity would be next because the Emperor allowed him to tweak the Astartes process during the heresy

Imagine what the primarchs would have become if they were never scattered all over the galaxy and grew up on Terra. Nothing that makes them interesting would have happened to them. The emperor would have treated them like a litter of dogs, trained them to suit his purpose, and given them the Thunder Warrior special when the crusade was over. Case closed.

Conrad was actually a pretty skilled scientist and geneticist! He was shown the chambers where he was created and the Emporer trusted him with the Rapter gene seed. I think he would have found a spot just fine

the emperor not being able to remove the butchers nails is a bs plot device. in universe, he absolutely can. maybe almost anybody can, since it stated that the butchers nails constantly destroy angron's brain, which is constantly regenerating.... so take them out and let it regenerate.

Tbh the solution all problems is "we'll freeze you on stasis until we can come up with a fix" for Magnus's sons, Angron, etc. Since we are at "peace" even for Mortarion "i'll fix your body and then you can forgive the psykers, which btw yo are one"

Farrus: Chief Industrialist and who Big E would have reverse useful alien technology. Angron: Would have to be put in stasis until he could be healed or his soul moved into a clone body. If possible he would sever as the Chief Arbiter for disputes between factions in the Imperium. Guilliman: Would ensure that the Imperium stayed a well oiled machine and I could see a High Lord position being created for him. As an equal to the other Lords. Morty: He would be sent to hunt down Xenos in the galaxy. It's really the only thing that would keep him from rebelling. Magnus: Stuck in the Throne, but I could see Big E trying to find a way to save his son's. Even if that meant they explored some warp craft way to solve it. Horus: Warmaster and head of the Imperial military. His legion would be support for anytime the Imperial Army went to war. Lorgar: The sole Demon Prince fleeing into the Eye Of Terror after a failed attempt to convert Horus. Vulken: Big E let him go assist civilians setting up colonies and his legion would deploy in small numbers doing the same. Corax: Head of Imperial Intelligence and Cover Operations. Alpharius and Omagon: The "problem solvers" for the Imperium. They would deal with issues before they could become a problem.

The main solution that comes to minds for magnus's sons would be to create a new genestock to use from mangus, and then phase out the existing sons using the new genestock, without having to kill anyone in the process - though it would likely take a good while to do. Given the on going heresy this is not very practical.

My Brother Rho, I loved these videos. Personally, I don’t believe the grand design of the legions was separate armies that excelled at a single battle doctrine. Rather, they were to be thousands of splinter fleets. Think how strong a “chapter” would be if it had a chunk of assault specialists, a chunk of deep strike specialists, defense…wizards…logistics…. I believe Gilliman saw a smidgeon of the grand plan, but had no clue how to capture it. With the Primarchs all on some world training their sons, then those sons become a mixed “stationed force” in a solar system, bolstered largely by Guard and Navy…. This was the dream. Space Marines were to be the watch dogs as a family.

I think that a number of the Primarchs and Legions were intended to be turned into the path of the Tyranids to bleed them dry. Namely the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, World Eaters, White Scars, Blood Angels, Night Lords, Luna Wolves and probably the 11th Legion.

Amazing topic for discussion! The only thing I disagree with you is about the potential future of the World Eaters. I believe that without Angron as their leader the nails would have been disbanded and not used (even under Angron many didn't put them in and it's a well known fact that the World Eaters had the largest loyalist faction in the Traitor Legions.) The War Hounds were trusted very much by the Emperor and they epitomized the noble warrior ethos. Therefore I believe that the Emperor would have kept them in action in the war of the webway or for attacking the Eye of Terror. 😉

Corax was a rebel before he was a primarch. I think he would continue to fight against oppression by nobles and governors across worlds by means of writing philosophy, governance, and maybe stepping in with force to dismantle regimes that went too far.

I’m really curious as to Angron’s original role. His empathic powers suggest he was to have a role similar to Vulcan’s.

If E would've saved angrons people and then told them he couldn't remove the nails without killing them i think the legion wouldn't have taken the nails themselves. And angron wouldve been less likely to rebel. Maybe even another race like the eldar or necrons could've had a way. But the lore needed to happen. Still wish they would have done some of it differently

I think that 3 legions would be purged and maybe erased from memory. The death guard, world eaters and word bearers. Draw to chaos because of logar. Horus would command his own legion and the spacewolf and dark angels to purge these legions. Before the great crusade would be done al remaining legions would get a recruitment stop order and can only recruit new space marines when the size of the legion is 10.000. 1 half of the remaining legions would be on police petrol and the others fighting in webway. The thousands sons would get a full recruitment stop and let the legion die out tru battles. In the web way ore in the outer rim. The coming of the necrons and the nits would bring the legions to test if the can withstand this new challenge with the forces the have at the disposal. And who knows. Maybe traveling to another galaxy would be in mind for the emperor. And sent a legion on this mission to find new planets for humanity to explore

I feel like you might have overlooked the fact that Ahriman cast the rubric without the help or knowledge of Magnus. In a universe where the great crusade finishes and completes and the imperium has won I still think Ahriman casts the rubric.

Big G would obviously live if Heresy never happened. His grasp of bureaucracy, politics, is even better than the Emperor.

I think you put too much emphasis on the legions. The Emperor wanted replacements for His Perpetual allies of yore, as told in Saturnine. The Legiones Astartes were just tools for the Great Crusade. Ultramarines would have made good governors, but it is explicitly clear that humans, not transhumans, were to rule. Almost all the primarchs could do their job without their legions, and I think that's exactly what would happen. Maybe each primarch gets to keep an honour guard and the ability to raise forces in a crisis, like invading Tyranids or awakening Necrons

I think Corax, alpharius and Russ work together as the inquisition before the inquisition existed I think corax would zoom around dealing with the threats on the fringes and working like a spear tip on some problems aka batman. I think alpharius would sniff out the big problems collecting Intel and ruining the plans while Russ takes on anything that gets out of hand, he gets called in when lorgar becomes a very naughty boy. I think Lorgar though was set to drum up compliance via his auritory skills much like fulgrim would do. But from a political and semi religious way rather than fulgrims military speeches. I think there would be consistent uprising and rebellion to keep all the above occupied while lion, perturabo, mortarion and horus get on with maintaining warp nonsense is dealt with
