James Worthy - havent bought from Brownells in a while. They are definetely the place to go for individual and perhaps obscure parts and products. they have a great inventory too. PA charges tax and shipping but, they usually ship within HOURS of placing the order and they always get it right! The last order i placed went in at 9 am and i was notified by lunch that it had shipped! The other guys usually take 3 days minimum and sometimes up to 5 before they even ship. Now i do business with Brownells, Rainier Arms, Midway and others on occasion but most of my orders go to PA for their great inventory(although half the time you cant find what you want because the website and search engine SUX OUT LOUD! my only complaint.) fast shipping and EXCELLENT customer service! Theyve helped me find products, extended sales when i couldnt log in due to high website traffic, given me preferential treatment to make right on a minor issue, replaced broken scope caps free of charge even though i told them it was my fault, theyve personally cherry picked a specific item for me and many other courtesies that are over, above and beyond the usual scope of customer service. If you asked me, PA CS is right there with Amazon and THATS saying something! And thats worth something. Tax and shipping charges suck but factor in the rock bottom prices on many of their items and i think its fair. I love PA but i certainly dont dislike Brownells or an others.

You give up clarity and light transmission with LPVO. Dusk/moonlight /dawn, you have much less light at high power. At 3-4X you still have pretty good light transmission, but with the second focal plane you cannot use the bdc in those cases (hunting/fighting/ night use). So then you are giving up a lot. Coyotes/ pest control/ militia defense use, FFP has some remedy as you can back off to 3X or 4X and still reach out to 450yds or so. Prisms like ACOG perform far better than both LPVOs in many of these settings. This scope is very good for range or day use though.

I believe he is contending it’s not built as tough as military scopes that you want to work after that IED goes off and bullets are incoming with appropriate response required. In that scenario I can see the value of acquiring the toughest optics available price be damned. I think the raptor is probably a viable option for LE though and asked him a question regarding that already. May have asked too late to get a reply tho.

Once they have been in combat as long as Aimpoint and trinicon then maybe. Once you use Aimpoint or trijicon the difference will be obvious

I really don't know why people fawn over primary arms when they are just releasing the same chinese stuff that has been around for over a decade. This optic for example can be bought on ebay for $60 just without branding labels. The hard part is just finding the listing.

Dave Smith the no-name Chinese stuff has no warranty or customer service, and I suspect you will find the build quality on the PA products to be far better.

I've never owned a PA product, but I have friends that do and they are exactly the same thing. We even pulled out a caliper to measure some parts and they are the exact same dimension. True, there is no warranty, but at $60 you can buy almost 5 chinese for the price of one PA. Even if you get a lemon you are way ahead. I got like 7 of these scopes I use on gas blowback airsoft rifles and two for one 22 bolt action and a savage 110 in .30-06. None have failed me so far. But like I said, what you are paying for is the brand and the ease of purchase. It is hard to find the listing on ebay, you have to wait about a month for your order to arrive, and you have to be careful as some sellers are offering a second focal plane optic which is not truly identical. I have one of the second focal plane versions when I first was buying these optics and it actually still is the same quality as the FFP but with 4x not 6x, so still usable if you don't use the reticle as the BDC. Usually the best way to spot a FFP vs a SFP are the IRL pictures they post where you can see the larger reticle size when they are zoomed in. Also they generally will be more honest and say like 1.5x-6x. Primary arms 1x isn't really 100% 1x from what I can tell. When it comes to chinese products I have no brand/company loyalty. If my dollars are going to a communist regime, I mind as well get the best bang for my buck.

The PA 1-6 is the exact same as the vortex internally. They come from the exact same manufacturer in China. Both vortex and pa don't design the optic only the reticles and minor appearance changes.
