It’s actually not bad as it seems , I let my emotions get the best of me. I came home for 3 days to get my mental straight and I’m back on the road with a new trainer !! Update coming soon 🙏🏽
Keep grinding my brother and take it one day at a time. I'm from the Chi too and I get where you're coming from. I'm actually in the process of getting my CDL as well, and I know the pay will suck at first, and I already know the ups and downs before getting into trucking..keep those goals swift bro and in the end I see you doing big things. Keep the content coming, and sharing your (positive) experiences with the rest of us. Little do you know you're inspiring others to change their lives for the better..your blessings will come bro trust the process. I believe in you! 💯💯💯
I remember them days...they pimp the hell outta you because they know you need them for the 6-12 months experience. However, once you hit that 6 month mark....it's up. Make that trainer work!! Back the truck up ten times a day until you are completely confident that you can put your trailer anywhere. You gotta be patient and persevere. Nothing worth having comes easy. Trust me, time flies on the road. You'll look back and smile at this...
I only lasted 12 days otr wit prime lol !! Me and my cousin went up there at the end of March !! He is still there and he’s still in the truck with his trainer ! He’s almost at 70k miles and they told him he only had to do 50k They still haven’t called him in to upgrade !!
This video, even though I understand where your coming from, is one of the most funniest videos I’ve seen in a while 😂😂😂. He said I’m going through emotions and it feels like a bouncing house sleeping on the top bunk 😂😂😂😂.
I did my 30k miles in flatbed division as a company driver for prime, huge mistake! Way too much work for the money you make and never home. They make you pay about $6,000 for the securement equipment. I only used the equipment for about 2 weeks and left to another company on a dedicated route, dry van and reefer. I'm loving it, it's way better. Money has been better, I'm home 2 to 4 nights a week. I thought Prime was a good company but that TNT training wasn't a good fit for me. I didn't need as much training as a lot of other people need. I needed money and it wasn't there at Prime. Also their health insurance is ridiculously expensive for the 1st year. I couldn't afford it. 👍
If u re sleeping in the top bunk while the truck is in motion then u got to tell someone about it cos that’s unacceptable. I ll never let my trainee sleep up there. But you need to also understand that night driving is part of the job, trust me bro it gets easier.
I went through the same exact thing with my trainer . And to be real looking at that red broom behind the seat and the color of the truck you in , you might have the same trainer I did . Lol I finished training in June and he got another trainee right after me . Just keep your head up man , the road gets smooth once you’re done . Good money to be made . Life changing money . Just muscle through and keep your goals at the front of your mind .
Your main goal with a trainer is to learn how to drive the truck and the company's system, after that you're driving your own truck earn $ and making you're own decisions
@@quadariushinton4136 true, but a driver is going to meet some shippers and receivers with bad attitudes, what is that driver going to do refuse to pickup the load or refuse to deliver the load,
Kenneth, my name is Charlie. I feel like I know you from somewhere. Did you place baseball for Coach Frank in Garfield Park? Or live out south in Cal City at any point? Either way, good luck in your trucking journey pimp ✊
Is not finessing. They evaluate your driving snd parking, if they dont meet a certain spec. They will do it all. But remember thats their rules. Also, you should not be sleeping on the top bunk. That is in correct and you should let management know. And one little tip if you dont like driving at night. You should drive at night. So you get the experience. Just take it easy. You'll make it through. Get another trainer
So I went to prime got my cdl and did like 23k miles and was like fuck this I’m out. Found a flatbed company that would take me and it was a wrap.. between prime and the owner ops they use the hell out you with the team even when your finished with tnt you ain’t guaranteed a truck they will throw you back out with a driver for a few more weeks 😂I said hell no
The general consensus is this- The biggest carriers pay the least The private carriers (pepsi-firestone-kellogg-shell oil, ect) pay better The big $$ is in Heavy Haul. (bulldozers-farm eq-giant machinery) all which require pilot cars pay the most. drive less & make more. !
Not suppose to sleep on da top bunk while in motion. He could of let u went home but he left u there to b in da truck so it won’t get towed lol. It sucks for non experienced drivers. I had to do that for 6 weeks in 2015 with a trainer. After that I was on my own with a truck.
Y’all crazy ain’t no way i was spending 6 months with a random ninja ..3 weeks with CFI got my own truck now I’m working with owner operators making good money home everyday and truck got no governor
I swear that's what made me say no to Prime! PAM only 18 days with Trainer OTR and I'll be in my own truck, and the Trainer can say you ready BEFORE then! 6mnth on the road with another MF is basically prison cell vibes😂😂😂
Man when I was in tnt I didn’t let him take advantage. The trainer is not your boss. I switched trainers and my 2nd one was cool. Never sleep on the top when the truck in motion. Report his ass
Companies rip students off big time. Once u get experience u run the shits. U decide if u staying or going elsewhere. Get a local job after that experience gets there. Dnt pay Enuff to b on the road for weeks n no home time. Life is more important
That tnt shit sounds like something JB Hunt would do. 900 bucks a week to team drive is pathetic even as a trainee. Werner paid me 1100 a week training on a dollar general account and I went home daily since my trainer and I lived in the same city just hours away from the DC.
first ... he didn't take you home because he's an asshole... I never ever leave students in the truck when I go home.. granted.. they've changed a lot... when the students wants to go home their pay will stop... when the trainer wants to go home and the student doesn't... the trainer still pays the student out of their check. I think student pay was 700 a week and now it's bumped up to 1100 I think..... NIGHT DRIVING IS HARD - I ALWAYS DRIVE NIGHTS WHEN I HAD A STUDENT... it makes it easier for a student to roll and they can see... they're rookies.. I never understood how you can trust a student driving at night on unknown roads. Your trainer is in control of everything going on in that truck and your training. they place the 50k miles on people to keep those team loads moving. when freight is plenty they'll drop it to 30k miles. Prime is a good company but you have to learn the sht that they pull and determine if you can deal with it. remember.. you can go home when you want to. TOP BUNK WHILE TRUCK IS MOVING... is definitely against the rules but I too made my students sleep up top... it's a hygiene thing .. got a choice.. either sleep up top or find another trainer. all of them stayed up there and its temporary... I do take 34's and we can do rolling 34's. it's always time to wash clothes... that truck has to stop and showers every other day at minimum.
Man stick in there it’ll get better once you get on your own hold it down it’s all apart of trucking bro training always the hardest but only the strong survive suck it up driver
@jimpoellinger8021 man shut tf up these companies don't pay enough for you to be home from your family,if any driver can be home on the weekends take that drive job
You are an example of the completely wrong attitude to have as a trainee. The only thing you got right was that you should not be sleeping on the top bunk. But it sounds like that was your choice to do. If you won’t drive at night this is not the job for you. As soon as you told me you wouldn’t drive at night you would of found yourself sitting on the curb back at the yard.
And that would been totally fine with me , I was still doing 600+ miles fatigue driving I didn’t want to drive at night time because I couldn’t sleep . And trust me that wasn’t my choice it was ah respect thing I’m not going to lay in someone else bed without them telling me it’s fine to do so
@@KennethHoward773 you don’t lay in his bed. He’s supposed to make it so you can sleep there. However he has to do it. Cover it strip it clean. Whatever. He has no choice. If he wants to train he has to let use the bottom bunk and the net should be used. If this is not happening call your fleet manager asap and get it rectified. Don’t be a victim. Speak up for yourself.
@@jimc8802 no sir, I’m not quitting. I came to realization that prime is actually a great company and I let my emotions get the best of me. I was just exhausted from not getting enough sleep . But my trainer has home time until Monday so I called my FM and told him I’m ready to rock and roll they can send me someone new I don’t want to wait on him … that’s to much time wasted
$900/wk? you're getting robbed, my company, drivers start at 1500/wk during training the same as a first year driver. We don't go out far (regional) and no backhauls.
Dude trucking aint for everbody ... but i heard that swift , westen express , watever name... that only do like 3 to 4 week... just saying keep ur head up
Bro you are hilarious 😂 change your mind or you should quit. When you are a trainer yourself responsible for everything you will sing a different tune. Most all of us have went through what you are going through at less pay. It is a grind and will be better if you have more understanding of the process and responsibility the man running that truck has and more if he is lease. You should not be on the top bunk and if it is not working out with this trainer ask for a new one. But you must change your mind or quit
I have a new trainer now , things seem to be going better …. Still on nights but definitely been sleeping like a baby on the bottom bunk 😂💯 so I’m ready to drive nights
You have to pay taxes because Prime operates out of Missouri and you paying Illinois taxes because that's where you live. It sucks I know but try to get through it bruh! Been out 24 yrs now handlin it!!
If ur gna drive a truck ur gna have to drive at night. Why dont u just go to pepsi or coke and drive then u can drive days. Otr sucks u gna be gone cant go to gym eat shity food it aint all its cracked up to be.
This ia hiw they do people when they think you are dumb. Look elsewhere. Sleeping on the top is illegal not to mention very insafe. You need to tell someone.
Prime tells clearly to both students and trainers that no one is supposed to sleep on upper bunk when truck us moving. I am not sure why he didn't complain
He said he didn't want to sleep in no one else's spot, meaning that the trainer slept on the bottom so he chose to get on the top bunk because no one else had been sleeping up there.
