Political commentator once again doesn’t understand Keir. His appeal to voters who didn’t vote Labour has zero to do with politics. It’s because Keir genuinely sees government as service to the entire country. Get your heads out of the self serving last 14 years and start doing your jobs more seriously. This is a serious government that needs to be judged by people who get policy not people obsessed with political psychodrama.
They haven’t got any policies. They’ve said they’re going to do this, that and the other but they haven’t got any plans to do it. All they say is “we’ll do it better than the tories.” Time will tell. He’s set himself up for a taxi if you ask me.
Honestly the press conference felt like a breath of fresh air - kind of boring, very practical and all sensible. It felt like an adult talking, with decisions and appointments being made on merit and need, not political point scoring. I’m skeptical of Kier Starmer but so far he’s seeming sensible.
The vast difference between him pushing the idea of serving the people and Tories living it high at our expense fills me with optimism. Even if it last a week, it’s a nice change.
Honestly I think the best appointment has to be an independent person as Attorney General, the previous governments sice 2010 have put in time served incompetents who supplied the advice the government wanted rather than what was necessarily lawful.
What a silly woman, if Starmer didn't believe or agree with Timpson he wouldn't have put him in cabinet . This entire piece was like watching a primary school teacher explaining to the kids. Perhaps that's why he didn't bother answering your question, I'm not even a labour voter and I applaud it, stop trying to find negativity everywhere you flipping journalists.
Press conference analysed? No analysis at all... Lots of grinning and smiling though so looks like these LBC People love Labour... Labour inherited mostly Labour policies! Think about that when they blame the Tories for the mess they 'inherited'. This could have so easily been a mess inherited from a prior Labour government! I will add I think the Tories have amde a huge mess of things , but that was also with the help of Labour for 2 years... Also Labour like most of of prior governments (not sure if any have ever managed 50%+ of the vote , maybe a long time ago when it was 2 party system?) is a minority Government , they represent 1/3 of the electorate and will be dictating to 2/3. Direct democracy is the one true democracy and it works very well for Switzerland who are close to it!
The problem with Tory policies is they never actually delivered on any of it. Mess after mess, long term plans never span more than 6 months. Be interesting to see stuff actually being done.
In the 2015 General Election , the Tories won with a 36% share of the vote, but that wasn't reported by the Tory client media as a Labour loss, oh dear me no, it was a stonking Tory win..FFS.
