There is a flaw in the coherence of this film. The accused man comes forward and tells the police that he met the young girl and bought cookies from her and they don't arrest him. A woman comes forward and tells the police that she saw him with the girl and they arrest for something he has already told them. Yet the woman tells them nothing more than the accused had already told them.

it felt like this had some momentum. And with his car being similar to that in the womans memory of the girl getting into, we were wondering if there maybe a twist. He was in a bit of turmoil. Then, all of a sudden he see's the funny side of things, after confronting the farmer, and the whole film kind of melts. He goes home happy, that now he's taking things lighter, he goes back to work. And then the real killer is found, and things all align perfectly, hmm. maybe that's a theme- if you're innocent, don't become a victim, stay positive, live you're life, and things may just work out. So very true! My brother was the victim of gross police maliciousness which resulted in them murdering him execution style by a SWAT bullet to the back of his head as he lay sleeping. Police then illicitly reconstructed his head and shot him a second time postmortem in his left eye to deceive us into believing he had committed suicide. It took us 27 years to discover the truth which was when we were finally able to view and obtain the death scene images and which clearly depict he had been murdered. They are posted on the social media page we created for him Justice For Marvin William Harris.

Though I am sure that this has been stated several times in the comments below, *THIS* is why you never, *EVER* answer a single question posed to you by the police without legal counsel to answer on your behalf.. *GREAT* movie, and so applicable to today's social climate, but COME ON--even in the 80s you didn't let your kid go wandering off to wherever, not even to sell Girl Scout cookies. And expecting **another child** to keep track of your child's movements?? It just didn't happen. Parents were too wary. I raised two kids back during this time, and even in the market, we kept them in sight at all times.. And I realize that this is "just a movie", but the way that the investigators rushed to judgment, and on such flimsy "evidence" as "Well, you WERE seen with the little girl"--so were other people. That proves nothing!!! And approaching him *AT HIS WORKPLACE* where everyone can see so that people can start leaping to all kinds wrong conclusions is SO completely against procedure!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! "So you see our dilemma??"--yeah, your "dilemma" is that the police have a string of unsolved abductions and their backs are against the wall to produce "progress", even negative progress, if it gives them someone, ANYONE to feed to the media. This was lazy investigative procedures all 'round!!! And I positively *HATE* this nonsense movie stereotype of just dumping the contents of every drawer on the floor and calling it "a search of the premises".. And after all of the huffing and puffing, a disenchanted reporter ended up doing the legwork that the police *SHOULD HAVE DONE* right from the start. And as Staplin said, this is *why* in the U.K. your name may not be released to either the media or the public unless you are indicted..

Sometimes easier said than done, especially when you are innocent. I don't have a spare several thousand to just pony up for a lawyer, and not many people do. I was brought in for questioning once, wasn't murder or anything all THAT serious, and the cops looked at me and asked me questions in a tone that dripped with suspicion and refusing to believe anything I said. "You seem nervous, why is that?" Um, because I don't like your tone, maybe???? God, you are so right WW5023. What a nightmare, this justice system sucks.
@waynewright5023
@waynewright5023 Год назад
@@memom2227 Well, it sucks because it isn't actually a legal justice system, so much as a system of attrition, punishment and revenge. Don't even get me started on the abysmal clear-up rating for crimes in the U.S. where close enough is good enough.
