You’re blessed young man. Having your grandpa assist you in stick welding and with all that experience, has more meaning and value than anything you can think of. Excellent review, the welder looks good and you know how to weld. Two thumbs up!
I came here to say the same thing. I’d love to spend some time him. Thanks for bringing him into this video. I lost both of my grandfathers when I was 9.
Small tip, instead of clipping it at the roller, clip it at the torch and undo the tentioner, wind back the wire spool and you have 0 loss and no messy wire to deal with:)
You've convinced me. I already have the TIG 225X and a CUT60 from Primeweld and was debating whether to get the MIG180 for bigger steel jobs. I had to put myself on a waiting list for it...
Yep, your grandpa is pretty good. I just bought a MIG 180 and it is fantastic. It out performs all the stated specs. I would highly recommend it as long as you aren't looking for a machine to run non-stop.
Consider yourself very fortunate to spend time with your grandfather I never knew my grandfathers for they passed away when I was very young. Your grandfather looks very similar to mind on my fathers side.
IDEALARC® 250 STICK WELDER is made and its a real industrial welder MSRP 3200.00 your Grandpa has ton of experience with welding you can see that for sure
I’ve been a rig welder since 2001 and I’ve really been impressed with primeweld stuff I started off by getting their plasma cutter first for my CNC table now I keep buying everything I find on their site I even like them better than the Everlast and the Alpha Tig . Wish they had a bigger bigger amp shop mig tho
I HAVE a PrimeWeld 225 as well love its geat for the money. Works great. I. Have a Mig was thinking going for the Primeweld mig .this 180 looks good I am thinking have wait just got a CrossFrire Pro CNC So have to wait 👎sucks but got my table. Coooooool. 🤓
Please do a review on the PrimeWeld 200 Amp Multi Process welder . Thank you! You have the best detailed reviews on welders! Please don't skip any steps!
It all depends on what your primary use for it is going to be it is very good for mig welding very good for stick welding and okay for TIG welding. The biggest benefit that it has in my opinion over the Mig 180 are the cooling fans are on a timer so after it sits stagnant for about 3 minutes the cooling fans shut off and then turn on automatically when you start welding again
I am the type of person that likes to be somewhat get ahead so at least I get something little more than what i need in case later I dont have to buy or upgrade as my projects progress to higher levels and regret making that extra effort. I am currently looking for something really good and great price. I want to practice more on 1/4, 1/2 steal .
Good video. Off to a good start. Your grampa know his stuff. I enjoyed him as well. Your vid is the only one on this websight. Im on the waiting list to purchase this very machine. They sell out so fast. Hopefully back in stock soon.
Good vid with you and grandpa. I appreciate your time and evaluation. I’m seriously considering buying this machine. nice welds btw. Have you ever had to have parts or service on your primeweld tig machine? Very interested in service
Great review. I just got mine in the other day. Did you ever get any information from them about the flux core wire die? Mine did not come with one either.
Thank you for the excellent video. Where do you recommend getting consumables? Does this welder cross reference with any other brands where tips and nozzles can be purchased locally?
Thanks for the video. I’ve been looking for MIG Welder to add to my shop as I mostly TIG and Stick weld. Was kinda set on the HF titanium 170 until I saw this. Looks like a heck of a deal. Would it be best to purchase it from their website? Btw your grandpa is one cool fella and lots of knowledge!
If you had to pick only one to get started on a small weld n fab shop which one would you pick? The 180mig or 225xtig? I'll be working with both steel and aluminum. I'm trying to think on which one I could accomplish more work with. I was gonna buy the 225 tig but now I'm wondering if I should buy the 180 first.
It kind of all depends on what the type of project that you're going to be doing if your project is going to be constructed of all new and clean materials hands down the TIG welder if your project is going to be using recycled materials or dirty materials like repairs or modifying things you probably want to lean towards the MIG welder
I don't they don't do affiliate codes the only discount that you get is if you do their email sign up I believe it's $25 off I appreciate the ask though. 👍😎
Just subbed last night I almost bought their tig like you have, so can you tig half inch with your primeweld 225 a little mixed up on what to get, got a plasma and an stick welder looking for something that can do half inch steel, aluminum and stainless steel. tks
How about 6010 ? I usually use the 6010 esab + for pipe open root. Just wondering if it was capable. I'm in the market for a tig setup and seen your review of it and the mig180. Good job on both vids. I currently have a Lincoln flux core 180 that's tired. And a wonderful ideal arc 250 . I like the portability of both of the primeweld machines. I'm wanting ac/dc tig, gas mig , and if possible the stick mode that is capable of 6010.
Usually, the combo machines advise against the use of 6010 rods in the description or specs. Maybe I can find a copy of the manual online and glance over it. It's not a deal breaker, just hoping it was capable.
Yeah I think so at least an intervals. One of the pieces I welded together in the video is a half inch plate to a quarter inch plate and it burned in real nicely and the machine was only about 3/4 the way turned up
Please explain. I am confused. Yes absolutely. For self shielding fluxcore. Negative terminal for mig gun. But that machine has gas capability .. so if you are running dual shield fluxcore( with c25 or c02) why did you say use negative terminal for gun? Or did you mean if you decide to run self shielding fluxcore?
Just ordered this ! I learned off my titanium 125 & I have that set up for .035 Wire . New to MiG , would you recommend to leave this one at .030 or switch it to .035 for all MiG work?
On the spool gun how do the settings translate to the corpsponding steel setting I set it at what I thought should translate and couldn't get shit out of it and was smoking tips
To be honest I've only used this spool gun a couple of times I recommend checking out @timwelds channel he has a good video on setting up your aluminum spool good he uses a different welder but the principal still apply. 😎
They won't I can say that from experience we bought a $10,000 dynasty 400 at work high frequency went out within 8 months and they made us package it up and ship it out for a pair and we didn't see it again for 4 and 1/2 months. Had the same thing happen to one of my prime weld machines and primewald had me a new machine on my doorstep and four business days
Any company is going to have their lemons almost everything is made in China anymore even Miller so at this point what matters to me is customer service
To be perfectly honest it's been long enough since I've used it I'd have to go out and look at the manual but I believe you just flip the switch I don't think you have to change the polarity but don't quote me on that if I remember tomorrow I will check 😎
This thing performs great and the biggest perk is the customer service if anything goes wrong these guys will get you taken care of yes welder not so much
@@amcustomfab I appreciate the reply! Comparing both do they seem like they have the same functions ? Those two have been my list for multi process… looking to get beginner practice before I head out to school. I would appreciate any tips for a 20 year old ! Thanks … new sub💪🏽
If you ordered it in the last 6 months and it has a digital display it has a tweko stinger they should be sold online or at your local supplier if you have the older model like the one in the video with analog controls it is a benzel stinger and you have to get those online
Good vid with you and grandpa. I appreciate your time and evaluation. I’m seriously considering buying this machine. nice welds btw. Have you ever had to have parts or service on your primeweld tig machine? Very interested in service
