Jeez man, I'm here because I recommend it to a friend and ended up watching the whole series for the third time hahaha. It's personally my favorite TV Series, I love everything about it; soundtrack, characters, history, actors and creatures. Primeval is the kind of series that start slowly, but when it gets to the second season you just can't wait for the next episode, and the thing is that EVERY episode counts, you can't watch episode 5 without watching 4 like other series. 11/10 to Primeval, sadly, New World killed it, I'm still thinking that New World should've never exist, season 5 was the perfect ending.
I think season 5 would have been a perfect ending if they didn't add matt seeing a future version of himself leaving it on a cliff hanger or just make a series 6 lol
Glad you enjoyed it. Now that I think of it, would a Japanese adaptation of this series - whether it be animated or live action - fare? Edit: dangit, how many people need an Asuka pfp?
Seasons 1-3: The original, I love it. Seasons 4-5: Shorter but sounds way better now, my personal favorite. New World: It doesn't give you the chills of adventure, it's more like epic mystery. It's good, but the worst out all of them.
I somewhat agree. The original opening of seasons 1-3 will always be my favourite! Season 4-5 had a very interesting remix of it. It’s hard to explain but it sounds like trumpets have a harder and heavier hit to it on every blow! New World just sounds boring. Even the animation of the opening is unimpressive. It reminds me of Westworld’s opening with the floaty surreal scenery and whatnot. I think what the original 3 seasons do what New World fails is keeping the animation simple yet subtle in its effectiveness.
I loved this series very much, it left me with a very big experience for seasons 1-5, whether I think of the characters or the creatures. I will never forget the cozy intros. 😎
There is something i always wondered about anomalies , if they can make a person go to any past or future place on earth then it would of been terrible if they had went through only to find themselves in a mass extinction event like the great dying or the end of the cretaceous period during the KT extinction. And also if they went through and there would be earth before any complex life during the bombardment of meteors that brought with it water or when Thea collided with the earth to make the moon.
Or they go back to a time where humans couldn’t survive. Such as Pre-Cambrian, Cambrian or Ordovician. I mean the Ordovician period may be habitable by humans but it would be extreme conditions. Due to higher sea levels, higher altitude would increase oxygen levels. Plus there was no major plant life to supply warmth and food was scarcely limited to water based creatures Going into the Silurian, Carboniferous and Permian. It may be a bit easier. Sea levels began to fall, oxygen was still high but shelter, food and warmth could be found. But then most of the later Permian period was higher climates and deserts
In season 2 they had already found pre Cambrian life (the fog worms) but they didn’t go in the anomaly, plus you can go back through anomalies so it wouldn’t be to big of a deal if they found a anomaly that leads to the Cambrian. But they would probably die if it was a mass extinction (but what are the odds they find one there has been so many anomalies, and none of them have lead to a extinction event,so far).
I like the fact Becker wasn’t in the into until episode 6 the actors for Captain Ryan and Oliver Leak didn’t even have their names but they were still in the into.
I made my own Primeval Theme Version if you want to listen to it, my dream would be making the Soundtrack if the series continues and if its even possible 😇
Spoiler alert for anyone who hasent watched this yet just incase i almost cried when cutter got killed by Helen ngl so yea pls bring primeval back this show was my childhood i literally had everything even the rc Rex drone
I remember watching S3 EP 4 when it first aired, I liked Danny pretty much instantly but seeing Douglas Henshall's place taken by Jason Flemyng was sad as hell, I kinda wish Andrew Lee Potts or Hannah Spearitt took it instead.
Fuck, it's been 10 years now. I remember the time when I watched Primeval on TV/the channel Syfy when I was still in college. The good old times when I watched shows on Syfy (Primeval, Caprica, Sanctuary) and Netflix didn't existed yet.
I got a fanfic idea for a crossover with this show and black lagoon anime. Think of calling it “nothing lasts forever” as a reference to how crime declined and many criminal empires have fallen and are declining and how nature changes things all the time.
ok listen up people. I very distinctly remember a similar series in my childhood (2005-2013-ish) that was VERY similar to this, HOWEVER i just don't think it was this one, these intros caused no nostalgia and to this day i've been searching for it, I come to you dear viewers asking for help, as clearly we're into similar shows. Below I've outlined everything i remember about the show in hopes somebody will tell me the name of it. Thank you. The basic premise seemed to be a team of people somehow luring prehistoric (and maybe future?) animals into our current time through a portal of some kind (hence why i thought it was this show, but it is just not) with the intention to capture them, maybe for scientific study, maybe to make a jurassic park or perhaps to heal them like one heals injured wild animals at a zoo. The intro featured at least one (the last one?) wide shot of the camera panning over a very distinctively green field full of dinosaurs (but i could be mixing this up somewhat with the beginning of the intro of the anime Dinosaur king, another favourite, so feel free to look that up as a reffrence), tho i'm fairly certain a similar shot was at the end of this intro, note it was VERY green, idk why that stuck out to my child mind so much. That's all i remember of the intro sadly. It starred a man, maybe mid 30's to 40's, your run of the mill main character, maybe a zooologist or other scientist, modern clothing, short brown hair, had a Steve Irwin esque-energy about him. The episodes took part in some compound, very modern with large cages, looking like backrooms of a zoo maybe or perhaps something someone might build in ARK survival evolved, there was a wide central hallway (at least what i remember of one episode), i want to say the colour palette was yellow-ish, maybe with hay on the floor or similar, there must have been some catwalks somewhere higher above the hallway as i remember a character looking down into the hallway but i could be wrong on this. Another character was a woman, long straight hair, all i remember of her is her once calling the man crazy. The only episoide i can remeber is the one with the sarcosuchus (or similar massive crocodilian-esque prehistoric giant), for whatever reason the man was having trouble luring it in so he went through the portal himself, something that seemed a bit unorthodox, maybe not in the manual. Finally the sarco chased him down into the central hallway as the woman on the catwalks commented that he was crazy for having pulled such a stunt. The last things i'd like to point out are: -The show was not particularly bloody or gory, i watched with my mom and she seemed to be perfectly ok with me watching at 5-7 years old. -It had a distinctive documentary feel to it instead of your run of the mill scifi show, for example the characters would often talk to the camera, knowing it was there, i'd compare the style to Crikey! It's the Irwins! Tho i'm pretty sure there was no narrator. I SWEAR this show once excisted, PLEASE help me find it, thank you!
Isn't Ben Miller the only one who doesn't change title card and god knows why they changed this opening season 4 was crap anyway so was season 5 halfed in quality acting wise and became just about the monsters unfortunately they got rid of the 3 main characters , Nick , Stephen and Claudia/ Jenny and it just got shit was watching for the talent and as much as I liked the other characters was just too much of a jump for me
