1- don't run on soft surfaces(sand, grass) for more muscle tension 2- don't do a lot of slow running 3- don't run a lot of miles 4- do fast short run 5- do plyometrics 6- do strength training 7- do form drills 8- structure training

Don't see a problem with running on grass. Just make sure it's solid, not muddy or slippery.

Greetings from Norway, Im totally fresh new in running, Im gym weights lifting guy for 7years, but I wanted to try something new between rest days so I start running and you know what, I start love more more! I never feel better when I run barefoot on a soft grass track. The bare feet is the secret. You get much faster turnover & it feels so good.

Is it appropriate to use a Nike Free on the previous day? If grass is not appropriate then this may not be appropriate. Jason, any take on this?

Can we talk about how (most) static stretching is bullshit - from what I heard it kills the springiness and tension you are referring to in this video

Pretty sure its only if you do it beforehand, static stretching should be done after your workout

I and some others would say ur last workout should be 4-5 days b4 race (however this should probably be a taper session in my opinion) but I guess it depends what suits u & others have different opinions.

Thanks I am specifically inquiring about a hard work that we actually help improve fitness for the race. How many days before a 5K race not the week of the race.

The week of a Saturday race, most would schedule a Tuesday workout. Nothing super hard as you're racing that week, but enough to keep you sharp and feeling fast!
