Primitive Colonial | Decorating With Antique Store Finds And A Touch of Americana

You have A beautiful home! I love all the primitive and antique decor❤ The box is a old cheese box I'm pretty sure, I've been on the hunt for one myself. I love anything old & made of wood! I love collecting old wooden chairs just to stick in corners or empty spaces around my home, for decor purposes. I really love the ones that have the fabric upholstered seat and back. I have one that has a leather in the center of the seat & the leather is embossed with a floral pattern. The conservo box is like an old steamer for canning & things like that. I have a wood piece very similar to the one you were looking at 14:35.. mine has the bottom drawers, one side drawer and then slots like for mail or whatever. I have it sitting on a old hand built side table with another drawer.. its kind of like a desk. I really want an old secretary too! Lol I don't read.. but i love collecting old books! I have a pretty nice collection but i only buy them if they're 1964 or of. I also collect old bibles. All mine are from 1921-1950's. But my most special one is a small chunky leather back. Its written inside the front cover, it was gifted from a brother to his sister on December 25, 1849. So its 175yrs or older, the pages are Browning, its very fragile on the inside but the leather outside is holding pretty good. I love to collect old hymnals and piano books too. There so many ways to decide with books! I'm A sucker for old lamps, art photos especially the Victorian pieces! And beautiful ornate frames! Love your table scape 🇺🇸 The sconces are gorgeous! Your round box looks to me like a cheese box. Use a magnifying glass to see if you can read any of the print. I have several and love them all.🌷

I just saw your video. I think you should have purchased the George Washington portrait and flag picture finds for classy seasonal decorations! I love them, so now you make me want to go on a hunt! It's hard to find tasteful patriotic decor. I also like how you used the flags in your decor. You've still have the 4 th of July to decorate for. 😊

Love your slow and easy approach, and love your decorating style. I’m impressed and inspired by how careful and patient you are when shopping for just the right thing.

One last thing… I have searched high and low for those sconces. If they were an on line purchase, I would be very grateful for the information. I had a drawing of them with me on our last 2 out of town trips, but came home empty handed…🌷 Cindy K

The box you like with the inkwell is lovely. To tame down the yellow wood, simply use white tinted wax. You’d be surprised at the results.🌷

Your Shore birds are wonderful. I collect those also. I have some that are quality, but have found cute ones very on the cheap.

Everything looks amazing! I also collect grey and but salt glazed pottery from Salmon Falls in Dover New Hampshire. Your sconces look great too! I’m not positive but, I think that the wooden box is either a measure or pantry box, and love the shore birds are a really nice touch to the windows… have a great day 🥰🌻

I think your wood box is a round cheese box.....they usually have the band around the top and bottom....and with the lettering on the lid, that is my best guess. I don't think the pewter measures are truly old as in primitive old....I agree with you that holding out for the real deal (sometimes hard to do) is what will satisfy you in the long run. I've caved and bought a repro because I couldn't find the real thing and I've generally regretted it. Sometime the real deal can be cost prohibitive or impossible to find and in that case, I may relent. 🤥

I love the gauzy curtains in the dining area did you make them i love the way they are tied back very unique but simple perfect.

Pantry box is similar to a firkin.
