As a former race car driver named Jerry. Who never won & never came in last. And who was 24 years old & racing when this was recorded, in 1994. I can relate!
@@stanknugget I found one of my races from Aug. 20th 1994 https:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gJF2TDfGmrc.html. My first race is at 40:00.
I read in some interview or article that this whole show was totally impromptu. They were all in different locations, got asked to do it last minute and either Ler or Les had to fly in from across the country. Les said later on it was one of if not the best performance they ever had.
@@stanknugget when you are trying to disprove a claim or anecdote, the onus is on you to supply further information or at least offer more than a two word rebuttal. Otherwise, you just look like a doofus killjoy.
As a bass player, I can admit that I totally know what you mean by the extended pinky. I don't do it often but am aware when it happens. I never mastered the Claypool stomp, but will admit to copying the double knee bounce he does in more recent years.
I'm surprised Primus never had widespread commercial success. They're grossly underrated. Claypool is one of the best bassists of all time and their zany yet meaningful lyrics resonate with loads of people.
Royalties from every single episode of South Park, having this song "Jerry Was A Race Car Driver" on the first Tony Hawk Pro Skater which is in the top 5 best selling games of all time, and just had a successful remaster less than 4 years ago. Oh and the fact that South Park is on HBO Max ... every episode watched is landing them money. Primus has made all the right moves, and they're as humble as they come. I see them every year here in Minnesota, and they haven't once charged me over $40 for a 3 band show. Primus sucks 🤘
@@janellek21 yep ... Primus is the South Park intro song and the credits music. This is them playing it live ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NqKAcaeGbW0.htmlsi=B4ogwoZlVgyrEifN
Just saw my primus live for the first time on the a tribute to kings tour, and wow… it was amazing on spot entirely. The battles opened for them, and my dads actually really close friends with them, the drummer John Stanier gave me a free used and signed stick from them both, amazing. P.S. the battles stayed in our house during their mirrored tour in 2008-2009
Awesome video of a very cool, unique & genuinely SOLID band at a show that was those same things... they could have stretched this out to 10 minutes & the crowd would have just rocked more
1:53 God, I loved that so much. The crowd quieting down while Les delivers that line so calmly and flawlessly. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is amazing, but Les killed it. 10/10
I want to be there, so fuckin much man, I'd swap my dog to be there. Pure villainy all round! Makes me proud to be a Primal Primus Passenger in 2021!!!
Jerry was a race car driver He drove so goddamn fast He never did win no checkered flags But he never did come in last Jerry was a race car driver He'd say "El Sob number one" With a Bocephus sticker on his 442 He'd light 'em up just for fun Ahhhh Ahhhh Captain Pierce was a fireman Richmond engine number three I'll be a wealthy man when I get a dime For all the things that man taught to me Now, Captain Pierce was a strong man Strong as any man alive It stuck in his craw That they made him retire at the age of sixty-five Ahhhh Ahhhh Go! Hee hee hee! Dog will hunt! Ahhhh Ahhhh Jerry was a race car driver Twenty-two years old One too many cold beers one night Wrapped himself around a telephone pole, go!
Is this piece something Primus have performed in more than one key? I ask because I swear the last two versions I've watched here on RU-vid of live performances are in different keys, or maybe just a product of video quality/compression/etc.
primus don't really work in keys and ler said in a video that he sometimes plays songs wrong or differently over the years because it isn't all perfectly rehearsed so it's possible that different performances sound different.
Nobody glides across the stage like ole Les….and back when artists weren’t all woke and could wear a kick ass shirt like that…things made so much sense back then…..dog will hunt
