Well I remember as though it were a meal ago... Said Tommy the Cat as he reared back to clear whatever foreign matter may have nestled its way into his mighty throat. Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point-blank down the cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine. Truly a wonder of nature, this urban predator. Tommy the Cat had many a story to tell. But it was a rare occasion, such as this...... That he did.
I saw them in concert last summer in Kentucky, and Les and Larry broke out the double bass and lead guitar as a Tribute to Rush. It was worth the 5 hour drive.....
I have seen them many times! It all started with My Name is Mud. And I was hooked. I have friends tell me when it comes on they always think of me. Les is such a huge talent. He actually auditioned for Metallica & they said he was too good….there’s more they said about him but I don’t want to miss quote, I just know they thought he was a strange cat who could really play.
He also went to high school and was good friends with their guitarist. I think the story goes he showed up and jammed on some Isley brothers. The real beauty of Les and Primus is that they always do what they want musically, they never try to write a hit song or make a record company happy. Les could rip any Metalica song, but he would not have been happy and his real talent would have been lost forever. I am so glad that Les cares more about his craft than he does money or fame, it is what makes him and Primus great.
If you really want to see Les's bass prowess, find a live version of Fish On. Or even the studio version. He has a dedicated bass solo in all versions. Saw them in '94 Lollapalooza in Philly
I've got my tickets to go see Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade show on June 7 here in Raleigh with Adrian Belew & Jerry Harrison of The Talking Heads and their Remain In The Light Tour. It's gonna be wild. 🙏✌️
If you liked it enough, you could look for an old version where he dances. He's got a great dance he does across the stage... like his own Chuck Berry...
Always love watching your reactions. Can tell when you’re into something. So many I see fake it, but genuine is where it’s at. If you’re not genuine, you sell it as such. Much respect
To this day, I have never seen anyone reacting to the Scottish band Incredible String Band (1965-1974). Songs like Darling Belle, Maia, The Minotaur´s Song...and many others from the 12 albums they released.
Its our duty, as primus fans, to hit up every reaction video person stream and donate enough to get this band out reacted on. Ill give you 100 bucks and send you the dvd if you react to the WHOLE "hallucinogenics" concert sir.
Is this a re-upload? I know you're not just now getting around to Primus. I swear I saw you do "Winona's Big Brown Beaver". If not, you have to. Not only is it a great song with one of the most undeniable grooves ever written... it is also the most hilarious video ever shot.
There's no one like Les Claypool. He is going to be playing in his side project The Frog Brigade this summer. They are going to play Pink Floyd's 'Animals' album for set 2. You should catch a show.
Jamel!! Where have you been man?! I got your notifications on but haven’t seen anything you’ve done. Just stumbled across this one by accident. Hope you’re doing well man 🤘🏽
been looking through your videos. i can't seem to find any Superjoint Ritual or Pantera reaction vids. super heavy. Les was heavily influenced by bands like Yes, Rush, King Crimson ect. i think some Dream Theater and Liquid Tension Experiment would be a very nice watch and if you haven't heard them yet i think you'd love them.
so this is how ya know this is a legit reaction. you.. jamal... you paused once, maybe twice in the early.... but i saw a genuine "kidnapping of your attention" hehe. you let the rest of the video ride out, because you wanted to continue in the flow. best front to back album... if you haven't checked out..... is... artist: mr. bungle album: california. i'm not a huge fan of other mr. bungle albums, but california is a masterpiece! try it! anyone else, too!
You have to watch their video to understand what they are saying. Les talks so fast that I STILL have problems keeping up! lol. How about that bass ass kicking, as well as how tight the drummer and guitarist are...
Dude, this is yer first Primus? Oh boy… Yer gonna have fun…😉 When my boy was a baby to about 4, I used to dance with him all the time… Primus, especially this one, was one of his favorites…
Just for grins I've been watching various reactions to this tune. Every single one the reviewer gets this "WTF have I gotten myself into?" look. Justifiably - there's nothing quite like Claypool & Co.
How come you never did Aerosmith? Do "Back in the Saddle", "Toys in the Attic", "No more, No more"- this is one of the biggest bands in the 70's- Love what you do- you are funny and highly entertaining- Rock on Brother Jamal- thanx for keeping the music alive
No no no…. There’s no need to understand what he’s singing. It’s utter nonsense. “I’m mr Knowitall, I am so eloquent. perfection is my middle name, and whatever rhymes with eloquent” You should go to a live concert and bring your buddies.
They really really really cut the bass solo out of that? There’s no way they didn’t play a longer Interlude, that’s the same band that was at the opener festival… The same lineup I mean the same here why in the hell would they cut that beautiful minute and a half of bass out that is absolutely ridiculous Jamel I’m not busting on you I just can’t believe the stupid Bonnaroo idiots edited that performance. If you look up Tommy the cat at the Heineken opener festival, you’ll see that part in the middle where he goes off on that slap Bass riff Actually last about a minute and a half longer and it is tremendous Also when you were talking about the lyrics, the Heineken and recording as much better audio a much better mix… This is really pretty bad sound to be honest dude figured they could have some good technicians at a show like this
