Prince Andrew's Wedding Day Hissy Fit | The Crown (Olivia Colman, Nicholas Farrell)

Prince Andrew (Tom Byrne) is very unhappy that on his wedding day the press is more concerned with his mother's spat with Thatcher than his nuptials with Fergie (Jessica Aquilina). Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) has very little empathy for his brother and understands why the papers would be more interested in the rift between The Queen and The Prime Minister than the wedding of a "fringe member of the family who will never be King."

@@williethomas5116well, in terms of the royal family, it does revolve around Charles, and he is 100 times better than Andrew ever was. Andrew is an embarrassment and a leech. Charles made something of his life by creating a charity that’s helped over 1M Britons and raised awareness on environmental issues way before it became trendy to be green. And even though I know this is fiction, I can’t help but laugh at Charles popping Andrew’s pomposity and self importance

Sophie is way better person than Diana and Fergie. Both Diana and Fergie had problems even before they married to the princes. It's matter of fact that Diana couldn't sustained any close relationship with anybody for longer time. Diana had many mental health problems and she was also violent towards her family. Like she herself admitted slapping her father across his face when she was 15. In 1989 pushing her 60 years old step mother down the stairs. Slapping charles across his face and calling names in front of staff at highgrove just because charles refused to make tennis court in Highgrove. Threw heavy Bible at charles's face while he was praying before sleeping. Making her dresser cry multiple times. Fergie was in relationship with a rich man who was 20+ years older than her when she started seeing prince Andrew. For frist 5 years of their marriage Fergie and Andrew only were together for 40 days a year because of his navy. Sarah taking big loans and spending money as if she were billionaire, shady magazine deals photos for cash. Taking at least 3-4 luxurious vacations. Mooching off of other wealthy and questionable people. She let her lovers Suck her toes in front of her 2 daughters and then claims she and her lover were playing Cinderella for to entertain her daughters but can't remember prince ever kissing Cinderella's toes😑 Not to mention both Diana and Fergie had contact with midea and they leaked many private detail to midea. Diana for revenge and Fergie for money. Edward learn from his brother's mistake and didn't proposed sophie immediately. He and sophie started dating in early 90's but got married in 1999. He made sure sophie was right person for him and royal family. William also followed his uncle Edward's foot step chose his bride wisely.

The row between Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher, as depicted in Netflix's *The Crown*, was based on real tensions that existed between the two women during Thatcher's time as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990. The main focus of their clash, as portrayed in *The Crown*, revolved around political differences, particularly concerning the apartheid regime in South Africa and broader Commonwealth relations. Here's a detailed explanation of what this disagreement was about and why it almost caused a constitutional crisis: The Conflict: The primary disagreement stemmed from Thatcher’s policies on sanctions against South Africa during the apartheid era. The Commonwealth, a political association of former British colonies, was pushing for economic sanctions on South Africa to pressure the apartheid regime into dismantling its system of racial segregation. Many Commonwealth nations, particularly those with large non-white populations, were strongly in favor of such sanctions as a moral stand against apartheid. However, Margaret Thatcher opposed the sanctions, citing economic and strategic reasons. She believed that sanctions would hurt the British economy, which had investments in South Africa, and also feared they might destabilize South Africa in a way that could worsen the situation for all its citizens, particularly the black population. Thatcher's refusal to impose full sanctions put her at odds with the majority of Commonwealth leaders and, crucially, with Queen Elizabeth II, who was known to have a more sympathetic view towards the anti-apartheid movement and supported the Commonwealth's stance. The Role of the Queen: Queen Elizabeth II, as the head of the Commonwealth, held a symbolic leadership role in the organization. Although she is constitutionally neutral in British domestic politics, her duties as the head of the Commonwealth give her a voice in international relations, particularly when it comes to maintaining unity among Commonwealth nations. Many of these nations were frustrated by Thatcher’s resistance to sanctions, and it was believed that the Queen shared their concerns. In *The Crown*, the tension between the two figures is dramatized by portraying the Queen as privately disapproving of Thatcher’s position. While the Queen maintained her constitutional impartiality publicly, reports at the time suggested that she was frustrated by Thatcher’s unwillingness to heed the calls for sanctions, which were seen as a moral necessity by many Commonwealth countries. The Buckingham Palace Leak: The situation escalated when, in July 1986, *The Sunday Times* published an article claiming that Queen Elizabeth II was dismayed by Thatcher’s handling of the sanctions issue and that the monarch believed Thatcher’s policies were damaging the Commonwealth. This report, which suggested that the Queen was critical of Thatcher’s government, was highly unusual, as the Queen had always remained politically neutral in public. This leak was significant because it represented a rare breach in the British tradition of constitutional monarchy, where the sovereign must remain above politics and never express public opinion on political matters. The British constitution is largely unwritten and depends on conventions. One of the most important conventions is the political neutrality of the monarch. The leak thus raised concerns about a constitutional crisis because it suggested that the Queen was, at least privately, interfering in political matters. Why It Almost Caused a Constitutional Crisis: In the UK, the monarch is expected to remain apolitical and above the fray of party politics. The revelation that the Queen might have been at odds with her Prime Minister raised the specter of a constitutional crisis because it suggested a breach in the long-standing convention of royal neutrality. If the Queen were seen as directly opposing a sitting Prime Minister, it could have undermined both the authority of the monarchy and the elected government. Such a public disagreement between the head of state and the head of government could have destabilized the British political system, which relies on the cooperation and mutual respect of these two offices. The monarch’s role is to advise, warn, and encourage the Prime Minister in private, but any suggestion of public disapproval can erode trust in the system. The leak caused significant embarrassment for Buckingham Palace, and both the Queen and Thatcher downplayed the incident. Buckingham Palace issued a rare public statement denying the claims, asserting that the Queen always maintained neutrality and had a close working relationship with Thatcher. Thatcher, for her part, also brushed aside any suggestion of a rift, calling the reports "nonsense." Conclusion: The row between Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher, as dramatized in *The Crown*, was rooted in their differing approaches to the apartheid regime in South Africa and the Commonwealth's stance on sanctions. While the Queen is constitutionally bound to remain neutral, the suggestion that she privately disagreed with Thatcher created a moment of potential constitutional tension. Although the situation never escalated into a full-blown crisis, the leak of the Queen’s supposed discontent was a rare and significant moment that highlighted the delicate balance of the British constitutional monarchy and its political system.

Charles and camilla yeah the rest no. Harry in his book was actually very frustrated that William told him to just ignore what the press say. There’s a whole bit (and more) of him complaining to William about xyz story and William telling him to just not read it, plus William berating Charles for caring what the media says or trying to influence it. This is partly what makes Harry’s book fascinating, it unintentionally reveals William has an insane amount of inner peace lmao

What exactly was the row about? Also, how could the Queen let someone be sacrificed like that? It's disgusting! I am not sure that The Crown always tells the truth or embroiders it, so did this really happen?

a sunday times article in 1986 alleged that the two had a rift based on thatcher’s spending cuts causing suffering for the public and her policy in south africa. the show alleges that her press secretary leaked the queen’s views to the press and was made to take the fall for it as a result. in reality, the reporters took his words out of context and he did not purposely insinuate the queen held negative views of thatcher because she never discussed her political views with anyone and they were never allowed to be recorded. he was not forced to resign and did not immediately move to writing books. he left a whole year later, probably disillusioned by the position after this incident but he wasn’t forced out. he denied ever leaking her opinions and i think he really didn’t mean to, it was twisted by the media. lines up with how the british media still operates today.

Is the UK even a monarchy anymore? I mean when the Royal Family is so damn scared of stating an opinion do they even have any real power or is it all the bureaucracy? Imagine if for a moment the King Charles actually dared to side even slightly with the opinions of those protesting in Britain against mass-migration and crime. Does anyone really expect he would not be slandered and slaughtered in the papers and on tv let alone parliament? How can you be a monarchy when all your “God given power and divine rights” seem to rest on the consent of half-wit greedy and selfish bureaucrats? I find it hard to believe any of the Royal Family’s ancestors would be proud of the mess British is today.
