Harry and Andrew have both damaged and embarrassed the royal family for different reasons. But considering how vastly different those reasons are I don’t think the two should be equated.

He couldn’t be a copilot. He could not calculate the math that’s required in a matter of seconds. It’s takes more than 10 fingers and 10 toes and I can’t see him doing it. My granddaughter in kindergarten started learning her”pluses”. She gave about 5 that she knew and said that’s all. I don’t know nothing else. I could see Harry being able to do that but not much farther. Anyone who sits in any pilot seat, captain or copilot has to be a real pilot with real credentials. And it takes a lot of time just to sit in the side seat. My son is an airline pilot currently. It takes a lot of study and intelligence to become a pilot. You have to be able to calculate numbers in seconds. the training is intense and it never stops. Yearly he has to take a recertification course and flight training. All pilots have to do that yearly for any plane they fly. If they fly multiple planes then it has to be done on every plane. Plus it’s very expensive. Training on jets doesn’t come cheap.

Tom Cruise should get that aviation award. It is well known that Top Gun increased interest in military aviation in the U. S. by a LOT and caused an increase in recruitment. This includes my brother-in-law, who joined because of Top Gun and is still serving 23 years later.
Weirdly, Harry is being given an award that could go to more deserving pilots.
