I can't wait til the full version is released on the new Purple Rain release on June 23rd. You're 100% right about it touching the soul. so much emotion from one man and a piano!
@CreeWilly 💜Prince would leave his name off the credits often. Look at the songs Jungle Love and The Bird. You only see Morris Day and Jesse Johnson name on the end credits, but Prince is also the co writer of those two songs as well as others. Apollonia 6 didn't write any songs on their album, but Prince gave them the credit. Don't go by the credits in the 1980s. Prince usually was the only writer of the song or the co writer of the song.💜
Very rarely a piece of music is written that transcends what you hear and enjoy. It reaches in and grabs your very soul. 0:42 into this piece, and that's exactly what happens....God Rest His Royal Badness. Thanks for all of the amazing memories.
It isn't a longer version, sort of. While yes, it is longer, it's not the same recording-you can tell for sure. I believe they recorded two versions, and I'm sure a site like Prince Vault would help with the information regarding this, but it definitely isn't the same recording.
If you listen carefully, you will hear that this is the melody for Computer Blue at a slower tempo. It’s truly beautiful! Been a Prince fan since I was eight years old!
This beautiful Masterpiece brings me to tears EVERYTIME i hear it. For over 40 years ive known my father's name and for my own selfish pride after social media came imto play i would try and look him up but i would get in my feelings and delete. I didnt want to interfere with his life. So, on my 47th birthday i said to hell with it, i NEED to know. So i reached out to a yong Man who was named after my Dad and to my surprise he is my brother!! We talked for about 2 hours before i aksed him the burning question can i meet Dad. He replied, im sorry bro but he passd 2 years ago. I was devastated. On the bright side of all this i foumd my 6 siblings!! We arw getting to know one another but we are spread out over the country. Every year around fathers day i get sad. Prince i cant imagine what you were thinking of when you and your father composed this but i THANK YOU both for this beautiful work of art. Sleep in Paradise to the Purple One...
Remember when I first heard this on Purple Rain, I had 2 learn it & play it on my keyboard. Took me awhile, but eventually I got it. Love u Prince. RIP
I love this for its melody and tenderness and just the piano. I also love the album version on Computer Blue because of the cool rock vibe. Just fabulous.
That's true. However, this song was composed by his dad. I guess it was a way of paying homage to the one who first, influenced his own artistry. A hauntingly, beautiful composition.
