That’s not their “last name” but a convenient way of referring to their family by its title. Technically speaking, the surname of the family is Mountbatten-Windsor.
No, Queen Elisabeth decided that the family name should be Windsor. But that change was only decided in the last years. Otherwise it would be Windsor Mountbatten. On the other hand during their military times the 2 brothers were referred to as Windsor.
@@mflax4331 - No. Elizabeth’s grandfather changed the last name to Windsor during WWI because they’re last name and lineage is German and he wanted them to be more British.
@@BFlaherty325 That is partly right. But Prince Philipp's name was Battenberg in German or Mountbatten in English. Thus their kids would have had the name Windsor Mountbatten. That was changed according the will and decision of Queen Elisabeth. The name of the dynasty after Queen Victoria would have been Saxe-Coburg-Gotha after Prince Albert.
Well,it look’s like;their children are going to Royal 👑 people,after all?Everyone,except Princess Charlotte!She will have;a commoners Iife,I’ve heard.Because,the boys(Prince George and Prince Loius)will get the throne.
What a magnificent family! Kate and her husband absorbed all of the spiritual molecules from Queen Elizabeth and they are going to be spectacular as king and queen. We will all be blessed.! Merry Christmas royal family! ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Princess Charlotte is HRM Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, Princess Anne, and Princess Catherine all wrapped up in one! She will truly be a force to be reckoned with, that will change the world and have a great and positive impact on the world and in the monarchy!❤❤❤ Beautiful children!
You really live in a fantasy. Charlotte is a child snd her own person and by the time they are old enough hopefully this archaic, useless so called "royalty" will be abolished. She won't change the world anymore than her dead gran did or Anne. They didn't find a cure for an illness, saved lives, helped ease poverty etc and Charlotte is unlikely to eitger.
The HRH Royals have no Surname. The Surname is reserved for people in the male line descent of Prince Philip and QEII. Hence Lady Louise and The Earl of Wessex. Archie and Lili had it until they became HRH
their surname is not Mountbatten , none of the Royals used that title, or surname, except HARRY and Meghan, and for people who bang on about colonialism and abuse, why did they decide that was a good name?
Being in the spotlight and having people watching them all the time, is a heavy burden upon their shoulders. William and Kate are terrific parents. I wish them the best.
Yes. William looks so much like Diana (as well as a young Prince Philip). With some facial expressions that William makes, he looks EXACTLY like Diana.
@@greaterthanme876did Princess Diana's father have pattern baldness? Her brother (the present earl) still seems to have hair. Prince Harry's hair is thinning too.
You can tell that William absolutely adores his children but especially George. Maybe because I've seen them together more. He looks at him with so much love it's heartwarming.
@@ke11yke11zagreed & I would not be surprised if he doesn’t try to give them both boys a title that makes them feel as equals. He may fear that if he doesn’t, Louis will be like Harry & have some inferiority complex. I believe they will make some new traditions as young as they are with their own family. They will stay close to the old traditions & values. However, have a few little more modern traditions. They seem more hands on as parents. So they will fear that one will feel left out. Or something! I maybe wrong it’s just a thought.
You hardly ever see precious Princess Charlotte being cheeky but I love that she has that little cheeky side of her. She looks so much like Queen Elizabeth and it shows when she is compared to the Queen in her cheeky moments!! But then she can turn around and look like her mother in her poise and grace and her ability to assume her royal role. It's her muchness!! (Thank you Madhatter, Johnny Depp)
And we need to remember she'll probably be the next Princess Royal after Princess Anne. Of Princess Charlotte has her great-Aunt's dedication to duty, as well as her sharp wit and humour, then she'll be on to a good thing ❤
Wish Charlotte would have been born first. QE2 showed us how wonderfully a Queen can lead a country. All the men have been complete jokes and the joke continues with narcissistic Charles.
@@joanneschell5993 Will8am is trying to act. Nasty vial ma doing his best to upstage his own father who is up is own ass. WAITey does what she is told. Children are just PR FIDDER.
It’s none of your business. The UK has thrived under our constitutional monarchy - countries with partisan Presidents always seem so divided and dull in comparison
@@peggyclause8847 He won't be Bec. He is surrounded with very loving family. Princess Charlotte is the big sister that would guide her little brother. Plus they have 2 parental guidance that would guide him Prince William and Princess Katherine. And is 3 Kids is a good family size & equal distribution of love and everything! Usually 2 Kids is always a comparison that's why they called it Spare, 2 kids also is a Favoritism unending esp. with relatives and they say this 1 is better than this 1 if it's 3 kids very hard to compare Bec. Is 3. That's why is better to have 3 kids or more!
@@peggyclause8847 Actually, Charlotte is the "spare", not Louis. I don't think either will feel the way H does, as it appears they are being raised differently than William and H were.
@@cloverite AFAIK The Queen decided ahead of her death that the family name should be Windsor as it was for her dad. That is a more recent change. Thus the name Windsor Mountbatten was okay until the decision of Queen Elisabeth.
@@Kruimeltjegek AFAIK = As Far As I Know Some decades ago when cellphones started some NEET-speak / abbreviations were invented. SMS / Twitter are short texts and at that time each message was costing. Thus abbreviations were invented to save space, time and money. Some are used constantly: LOL...
I've always thought that it was a shame that QEII and Prince Philip didn't get more time as a family. Philip really needed to advance in his career to be happy if you ask me. Just another 5 years in the navy and he would have settled into his final role better.
Unfortunately the death of his father in law catapulted his wife onto the throne. I’m sure Elizabeth would have loved to had more time as wife and mother.
He’s old enough to guess that something is not right with his mother and now knows that his much loved grandfather also has cancer. A lot for a young boy to cope with.
I see that Charlotte begins to look more like the late queen Elizabeth when she was in her younger years.Charlotte is a beautiful girl and she is so smart.
Am very happy for William & Catherine now became the Prince/ Princess of Wales inherited Diana’ s title including their kids becomes Wales as well wow that’s amazing ! 😂🎉🤩 ❤😅
They didn't inherit Diana's title as she was never given a title that could be inherited from her. They were Charles' titles and Diana married into them. William inherited them when his father became king. The title Prince of Wales, however, is not inherited. It's created anew each time at the monarch's discretion. Catherine became Princess of Wales when her husband was created Prince of Wales. Again, She has her titles by way of marriage. Their children use their father's primary title in place of a surname. That's the system.
I’m telling you, this girl is going to be a FORCE! George deferred to her in order to know what to do when their parents walked out. When they are together Charolette is often the example for the other two to follow, which makes her the model, which means she is the one paying attention to instructions. This attention to detail is what’s going to make her so stable & strong going forward…..much like HRH Princess Anne; who is a very fit and capable Royal and would have made a most excellent Queen!
This was a great explanation but kind of highlights the ridiculousness of a system where birth determines all this. Britain needs to change. That's complete nonsense
@@marcuschonglanceanderson2390got some bad news for you. Other than Loxton town, there's no feudalism here now. That's long gone, mostly since the Restoration. You're a few centuries behind 😔
I like Charlotte! She's gonna be a little rebel...😂They're children look happy they have other siblings which always makes things more fun for them..And I hope they remain close.. Very beautiful family.
Another thing it would of been great if Diann was alive too be with her gran children she would of loved them so much it would of been wonderful she was a beautiful person god bless her 🙏❤️ Xxxxxxx
And she would have boxed Harry's ears for the hurt he caused. I don't believe she would have approved of Harry's first wife. A spider is a spider. You can try to love it all you want. It'll eventually BITE. Because A spider is a spider 🕷️
has anyone noticed the Royal Coup that has just taken place where we now have Queen Camilla taking over from an indisposed King ... who would have thought! ... well done Cams and all she said she ever wanted was to be Charle's squeeze! ...hilarious!
The whole thing to me is silly. They’re no better or worse than anyone. I wish them well, but they’re just human beings like the rest of us. They don’t really DO much of anything except make appearances.
And none of this actually matters in any significant way for anyone besides the British nobility, who do essentially nothing that matters, ever, beyond some humanitarian efforts their bloated titles help foster.
I laughed when I heard that Harry wanted William to share the Duchy of Cornwall with him and later that he and William should be "co-kings" of England. You just KNOW that was HW idea! 😂🤣
That was a tabloid lie. Harry stated in interviews years before he even met Meghan that he wanted to stop being a working royal and go live a "normal life." That's not a man who would ever consider thinking about sharing kingship with his brother.
@@risitascositas1699 Well said! Even as a child, he used to tell William, that he was glad he could do anything he wanted because he wasn't going to be King. That said, it was clear, to everyone within the palace (Diana) included, that Harry was better suited to be King, than William who was prone to temper tantrums and had an attitude. Even one journalist admonished Diana for William's tendency to sulk and skulk, meanwhile if you look at them in public, Harry was always affable, quick to stop at the right mark and politely wave to the public and press, as William skulked about.
It’s wonderful that the children all knew and will remember their grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, and have the close knit bond with King Charles, Queen Camilla and Catherine’s parents. Lovely family all around.
@@kalhilton9703 Charles and Camilla have their issues, yes, but at least they are making up for it now by taking their duties seriously. Besides, Diana wasn't perfect either. She cheated on Charles on multiple occasions and allegedly broke up several marriages.
