As the mother of a retired Airborne Ranger, who did 12 deployments to war zones in 20 years, the backlash was due to the difference in character of the two men. Pat Tillman was a true selfless hero, who sacrificed riches and his life to serve his country. Harry demonized his family and country for riches to serve himself. The two names do not belong in the same sentence. There are American veterans’ organizations that work tirelessly and with little pay and recognition that would have better represented the sterling character and sacrifice of Pat Tillman. The award would have been better received if it had actually gone to just the Invictus Games and the CEO. Harry has very little to do with nuts and bolts of the Invictus games. He lends his face to the organization, which due to his lack of character, has frankly lost its value.

No one, no one, on this earth would have accepted that award and disrespected the mother of a hero. What sort of soldier would do that!!! Lets stop sugar coating were sick of sugar coating.

How much ‘WORK’ does he do, I don’t think turning up to a sporting event really counts as work, the Invictus Games is run by many volunteers and employees who organise and ensure the games happen, Harry is just a name that at the beginning enabled the funding to be found, and though he may feel justified in accepting the award on behalf of those people it’s his name that is attached to it not theirs, his speech could have been written by any Hollywood Actor accepting their Oscar and virtue signalling the people behind them.

When Harry brought Mary Tillman into his speech it wasn't to praise her but to disregard everything she was saying because He lost his Mother at a young age. His total attitude was not about Invictus but about himself. So many Veterans were unhappy that he was given an award that he didn't deserve or even come close to deserving.

If Prince Harry respected Mary Tillman, he would have respected her opinion and declined the award OR have someone associated with Invictus accepting the award. Let's face it.. they donated $250,000 and were given the award. Harry "dining out" (using his words) on Invictus no longer works for me as he and his wife BOTH charge Invictus for their clothing, travel, food and accomodations. He should not be rewarded for that.

I know others may think differently; but Harry’s behavior that evening at the ceremony was completely off! He used Veterans as a shield on stage; he knew what he was doing was wrong- but I have to think MM pushed him to follow through- she is a horrible person; something is going on behind the scenes and I think she is the common denominator in the chaos. Whether or not he can break from her remains unclear, but I feel like there’s some abuse/threathening the use of withholding his children & bullying going on- she is dangerously manipulative…

As the family member of a brother who lost his life during his third tour leaving his wife and children devastated I certainly understand the upset and uproar around this. I certainly think the Tillman family should have had the final say on who received this award. I think that enough kudos, medals and attaboys have already been given to him for whatever type of service he may or may not have given. There are certainly plenty of American service man and women who I am very sure showing incredible bravery under fire and you rightfully it should have been the ones being acknowledged and celebrated along with their families who, albeit in a different way, serve and sacrifice their lives.

Harry is so honorable that he skipped an important military event to go to Disney. He was known as bunker Harry. He did drugs. He didn’t pass his helicopter license three times. He didn’t do any real work…he just whined and paraded his wife around half naked. He never found the Invictus games. For the last few years we’ve never heard anything about the soldiers that were helped just heard about his wife’s clothes and the money they had to spend just to show up at the IG. So, no Harry didn’t deserve that award. He bought it.

Harry's mention of Mary Tillman would have been more admirable if he hadn't then included a subtle reference to his own loss, bringing the focus back onto him. To me that reference was very Meghan who I'm sure added her twopenneth to the script.
