Remember purple rain the movie was written by prince and vanity for them to star in. The song was about the loss of love. Vanity walked out before filming started, of both the movie and his life. She had just given him a award that night so I'm sure his emotions were raw and true. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O9ErTK3n8NE.html Interesting documentary ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qA8JhyW0SgU.html
You’re right Prince had not performed on any major award shows until the release of Purple Rain. We did not have the internet back then. BET and MTV were new. We had to wait until the weekends for American BandStand and Soul Train to see artist perform. When you saw an artist in real time it was a treat. So the excitement is genuine.
But Prince was out touring before Purple Rain, played Saturday Night Live and had several videos on MTV from the 1999 album, so people who paid attention to music knew about Prince before Purple Rain came out.
Great video, Great reaction. If U loved this one, You should check out the live rendition he did in Syracuse New York 1985. What he did that night with that song and the White cloud guitar! OMG!!! Much love man, keep up the good work.
Yes! That performance was the gold standard! It was EPIC. - this performance was great too, the other one had more liberty with improvization and longer time to enjoy!
I've been a huge Prince fan since his 1st album came out when I was in middle school. We knew he was special from the beginning. I'm not sure if I've seen this performance before...thanks for posting it! I saw him twice in concert on the Purple Rain tour...he was incredible to say the least. You're right, he's a singularly unique, genius musician and performer. Great reaction! He was a multi-instrumentalist and played all the instruments on a number of his records. He was a spectacular guitar player, watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance honoring George Harrison (one of the Beatles)..While My Guitar Gently Weeps...with Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lyne. Prince takes it over on his 3 min. guitar solo! He's the reason that video has millions of views. It's now a legendary performance wrtiten about in all the music mags.
This, along with his extraordinary performance of this song at the Super Bowl, are my absolute favorites! He blew the roof off this place, and his star shone brighter than everyone that night! 💜💜💜💜
I've watched this performance many times and it's never occured to me that the producer missed Prince jumping off of the podium. Good spot! React to Prince Purple Rain Live Syracuse 1985. It's from the tour and it's even more epic than this performance.
My brother, I'm glad you chose Prince work to review. You could haven't not chosen anybody better. But just a little bit of advice to you. Know your subject matter before you bring it to the public. Learn more about the artist. Knowledge is the key, so know before you bring it. So educate yourself on that, okay? No Apollonia was not a part of the revolution. Also doing this time 85 award shows where the thing. We didn't have social media back then. So these things you should know before you bring to the public. Understand the time. Okay, these are constructive criticisms I want you to succeed man.
Prince performed regularly enough at award shows- sometimes performing and other times presenting and/or attending. The people screaming are fans in the upper tier. The celebrities and music industry types were on the lower floor. Prince was Uber popular during this time and the fans were excited to see him perform.
They both better than each other in certain ways nobody embodied music like them two prince did it through vocals and instruments and Michael did it through vocals and dancing
@@robinbeerman4726 I have and it’s damn sure not better than Michael like be fr. Michael could tap dance for crying out loud ballroom Broadway jazz nd hiphop, mime All prince do is James brown shuffle hit splits and twirl. Prince dancing not all that good.
No these artists were two different creatures. They both even mentioned it. The reason people keep comparing them is because they both were kicking butt at the same time in the 80's and time passed allowed MJ to have been in the spotlight longer. He was already embedded in our conscious, then here comes Prince. 💥 Their vibes were totally different, both mesmerizing, but different.💜
