The thing about Prince is he didn't just make music, Prince IS music. I've never witnessed another artist who literally dedicated his life to music. He would record about 3-5 albums worth of material every year, he was proficient at all 27 instruments he played, he's done like every genre under the sun, and of course he's regarded as one of the best (if not the best) live performers of all time.
@@RicardoPerez-rz8pu MJ and prince aren't even comparable, MJ was a preformer and a really good songwriter, but nothing compared to prince's just pure musical genius. Man could play every instrument, sung like a beast, and preformed better than MJ and beyonce combined
Prince is king to me. Like, I get why MJ is the king of pop but Prince was more than just a single genre of music to me. He did everything no other artist could do. I've never seen anyone do what Prince did. He's just the ultimate talent. He is literally 'The Artist'. There's nobody more talented than him, not even Michael Jackson.
MJ didn't even write most of his own songs, lipsynched his live performances, and he was an amateur player of guitar, piano and dumbs while Prince played them plus bass guitar and synths at a professional or expert level, and he performed live and crossed multiple genres. Prince was a genuine musician. MJ doesn't even come close to being as talented as Prince was. Prince could have easily done what MJ did by putting down the instruments and live performance and just taken whatever hit lyrics came his way from writers and then shot big music videos and then just lipsynched them on stage.
If you really want to name other artists besides prince, there is Stevie wonder, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Zappa. But Micheal Jackson, he isn't even comparable to Prince. He didn't produce, was a mediocre songwriter, couldn't play any instrument. It really irritates me when you guys act like mj is even close to the level of Prince .
I went to a Prince concert in 2011 and it was the best live show I have ever seen. He played flat out for almost 4 hours without taking a break. It didn't even feel like a concert because he would play his songs and songs from other artists just non stop. It was like Prince was having a party and everyone was invited. Just insane. No other experience will ever come close. Too bad he's no longer with us.
@@tonyhaynes9080 I've learned the double lightning was an effect that was made by the stage crew. That would've been too much to be real, even for Prince, especially because it was so well synchronized. Just an effect, like the fireworks. Sorry to break your astonishment, tho. "I don’t know if the lightning theme was added at the last minute, but it fit perfectly with both the weather and Prince’s clever sensibilities." from the Sbnation article about Prince's 2007 Superbowl show.
Prince's passing - hit me harder than I expected. I listened to his music exclusively, after - for 2 years straight...I was in music mourning...deep. It broke my heart...and I had to try and figure out why. My reason was that I knew, that I would never see another Prince, even if I lived two lifetimes. Nowadays....you always have people trying to crown this artist, or that artist - the new king or queen of whatever. They never do that with Prince. Because they know that it is just not possible....
I will add, he was and is the only artist to have performed in a SB halftime show to take out ads the following week in all major market newspapers thanking the NFL, CBS and the fans worldwide for the opportunity and support.
You have to bear in mind it was throwing it down with rain. The stage would’ve been as slippery as hell and him and the girls are wearing heels! Plus live guitars in the rain! Dangerous! Plus he’s playing all his guitar solos with wet guitars and wet fingers! When told it was going to rain, he said ‘can you make it rain harder’ F##king legend! 💜💜💜
He was OBJECTIVELY the greatest of all time. And its simple to measure: he demonstrated that he could do everything that all the other supposed "greatests" could do. None of the other "greatests" could do everything *he* could do. NONE 👏 OF 👏 THEM 👏 You may like other people's work more, but thats subjective.
@@Cinnamonrollseveryday definitely. I always told people even before that , that Prince was a fabulous guitarist that was underrated as a player. Plus his playing on some of the funky Time songs like Get it Up and 777-9311 are fire too. I mean the dude was a mega talent.
@@mr.goodenough3796 I am a HUGE fan of Prince, in fact we are considered in the family 😃. I had the pleasure of seeing him 4 times in concert and I went to Minneapolis almost 3 years ago and went to Paisley Park VIP tour “awesomeness”
@@Cinnamonrollseveryday Yeah I'm a pretty big fan. My Sister who passed away was a mega fan. As I said in another comment, I saw him in concert in 85 on the Purple Rain tour at the LA Forum when I was in 9th grade. Summer 84 kissed a girl for the first time watching Purple Rain at the movie theater lol ✌ He was one of the best artists and entertainers ever in my opinion.
Truly. His death hit me harder than any celebrity death ever had. He was the soundtrack of my middle school years, lol. I felt like someone I knew had died. 2016 sucked almost as hard as 2020/21.
I saw this live in 2007 & many times since and it always blows me away but seeing your reaction along with the video put tears in my eyes. The beauty of the show, the excellence and seeing you be overwhelmed by it was something beautiful to see. You see why so many of us loved that man. There are many legends & icons but Prince is in a class my himself. The world lost something really special in 2016 & we’re still feeling it but thank God for videos like this to remind us of what real musicianship and real showmanship looks like! I’m so glad you got to see this! It was an excellent video & I loved it! 💜
Thank U for your reaction to what is widely considered by critics, musicians and music lovers worldwide THE greatest Super Bowl Half Time show of all time! Prince was and always will be the most talented and complete Artist & Musician that ever lived. More Prince would be cool because Prince's mic was ON, he actually could sing, dance, play many instruments and did not lipsync at concerts or use auto-tune like so many "A-list stars" nowadays. He was the real deal man. Peace out. 💜 O(+> 4ever
We miss Prince very much, everyone says “MJ is the best entertainer” and really... I don’t think so, Every show Prince does is DIFFERENT and ENTERTAINING, he DOESNT lip sync. Mj is a great pop icon. The world is waking up to Prince, he wasn’t just a “pop icon” he took that and went waaaay beyond. Greatest artist/musician off all popular music and all time.
I love these men both. But it’s like comparing Beethoven and Mozart saying one is better than the other. We were blessed with having two musical geniuses at the same time. Too bad they never had a duet together, it would have been absolutely sicken!!
What a great review/reaction. 💟 When Prince played, it was soon after wardrobe malfunctiongate and the censors were at high alert. So when Prince played his guitar behind the giant sheet, his guitar was a giant phallic symbol 🍆 and was Prince snubbing the censors (who he has had a longtime feud with) Also the Foo Fighters were hanging with Neil Peart and Rush when unbeknownst to them Prince was covering Best of You. Someone ran out to tell them Prince was covering them at the Superbowl. They said "cool"!. He did this because they covered Darling Nikki without telling him. Prince was the only artist (as far as i know)who added multiple covers to his Superbowl setlist. Sampling Queen, Dylan, CCR AND Foo Fighters. All live! No lip syncing like so many including MJ. Or air banding like Red Hot Chili Peppers(embarrassing). Real music played by real musicians. Legendary performance. RIP Prince
Prince is bad ass🔥🔥🔥! When you can knock the microphone down and have that much confidence to just wait and listen to the audience sing your song while you are killing the guitar 🎸🤔! His presence is sooooo powerful! WOW in my opinion this the #1 Super Bowl performance to date! He is the best guitarist in my opinion because of his total package! Rest In Peace 💜☔️. Musical legend/genius you are truly missed🙏🏾!
People forget he is a legit GOAT on guitar because he's such a prolific songwriter--but he straight up shreds. Check out"while my guitar gently weeps" with him, tom petty and others. It'll move your world
I saw prince in concert at his purple rain tour when I was 13. I'll never forget it. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever heard of seen. RIP Prince.
Queen opening for Prince!! Haha!! Awesome!! 💜🔥💜🔥💜 Now that’s a half-time show!! Prince giving nods to CCR’s Proud Mary & Hendrix, too. Sometimes I feel when Prince passed away that all the best eras of music went with him!! 😭😭 Prince is our Purple Haze! 💜
I love Prince. Saw him in concert at the Los Angeles Forum in 85 on the Purple Rain tour, I was 15. At 8:00 minutes in he plays a homage to Jimi Hendrix's iconic version of " All Along The Watchtower ". 2 of the greatest artists of all time, true legends, deservedly so. This was my favorite Super Bowl performance out of all of them. 🔥
I will also add, that since the turn of century, the year 2000, of all available live performances by any artist, he holds the #1 and #2 spots with this performance and while my guitar gently weeps performance at rock and roll hall of fame induction. No one else comes close
You cannot compare the two, Michael did not play any instruments, Prince played EVERY instrument, wrote lyrics, sang, danced and acted. Michael was brilliant and Prince was a genius. We lost two of the brightest stars that ever lived. R.I.P.
When you get chills like that, you know you've just witnessed greatness. Every Prince fan on the planet had chills over this. I think it was the greatest achievement of his life. There will never be another Prince.
Prince was a bona fide genius, he had insane gifts and did the hard work to turn his dreams into reality. If you dive deep into Prince's work, the brillance is even more evident. The best of my generation without a doubt. When you listen to Prince, it's 100% - he followed his own muse. There was a story about the rain at this Super Bowl and someone suggested that he lipsync due to the dangers of electrocution. Prince quickly shot back, "I'm Prince I sing live". MJ was a great performer and dancer, but he had a team of the best people helping him including the incomparable Quincy Jones & Rod Temperton. MJ also resorted to lipsyncing at times, although not like they do today. The two artists were on completely different roads. I personally rank Kate Bush higher than MJ.
This is without question the Greatest Super Bowl Show Ever. Prince was told before going on stage that it was raining he said " Can you make it rain HARDER" Prince didn't do just his own songs which is outstanding. This was a LEGEND AND TRUE TALENTED PROFESSIONAL!!! Also a world class Guitarist. It is raining heavy yet it looks like the rain is missing Prince. This is an immortal performance!!!
Welcome to Prince world! There's no turning back now! React to I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man from the Sign Of The Times Concert ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mvuvk4o55p4.html
I was there brother it rained all day it stopped then on cue it rained.when he sang purple rain. Also this guy saved his show his stage ran over the main wire he went held the bare Eire with his hands for the whole 20min to save his show
Prince was such a great and rare performer. He had style! And a great dancer too! I would love to see his grammy performance where he danced & you react to it.😊 So great! I am old fuddy duddy & some of his songs were way too risque- themed for me, but I adore his rare talent & charisma. A young man who thought before he spoke. And the "Purple Rain in the rain" was amazing! Love from one of your BeeGees reaction fans!❤
It really was pouring. They wanted prince to know. They asked him if he wanted to postpone it for a little while. He said no I would like it to rain harder mind you he’s playing with an electric guitar and his do rag protecting his curls.
So so humble to take this opportunity and play homage to other people wow. Prince I have seen pay homage and play Jackson five. Hendrix. Time Turner the list goes on. Genius
The color's of Prince's suit r the color's of The Miami Dolphins NFL TEAM ( Teal & Orange ) which is where ( Miami, Florida ) this Super Bowl was played... The Indianapolis Colts & The Chicago Bears played in this Super Bowl 😮😮😮 I do not remember what the score was, but The Indianapolis Colts won 💯🔥😎 what a badass reaction 💯🔥😎 I absolutely luv it... curse word's & all ...2 me, your curse word's r just a part of who u r 😏😏😏 u really got the Goosebumps & Chill's during " Along The Watch Tower ", " The Best Of U " Purple Rain " 😏😏😏 " Oye " 💯🔥😎
11:52 literally while watching it we were just super hopeful he was not gonna get struck by lightning standing in water holding the Purple Rain guitar. ETA - I forgot to mention when you were trying to think of who he was like… Sir Brian May of Queen loved the time he watched him perform
I completely agree with your reaction. He was mindblowing. Dave Grohl (who wrote "The Best of You" that Prince covered in this video) said, "Prince is better than everyone at everything."
Prince was not an ordinary human, he can do everything, he had the hole pakcaged on every thing, magical, beauty, sexy, he was a Master in all things, he had a personality you never had feel before. His everywhere today to his the bigest musican in world! On his 1,57 cm tall he come in and stole your girl, with just a blinck or only becouse he was in that room…..RIP fabolous Prince 💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻
one of the men behind the scenes of this show said that they called prince before the show to tell him that it rained. Princes answer was that he asked the Crew if they could make it rain harder. Prince one of the true ones.
Prince is a carlos santana fan, carlos was a big inspiration to him as was jodi mitchel and Goerge clinton among a few.. he loved how james brown controlled his band when playing live, but he was more of a sly an family fan... prince is the goat bar none, out of his peers he was the only one who can walk into a studio on his own an deliver a hit...FACTS ..love your reaction bro..
I remember watching this Super Bowl with a bunch of friends and Prince hit that guitar solo and I was crying like a baby. Once I realized I was crying in front of bunch of other grown men I tried to wipe face and looked around…. Nobody had a dry eye that night. 15 grown men in a room crying together
This is a genius he made music he is music, this man rocks high heels better then us we on and I love it. No he dose not play around he can play every instrumental item u give him
Find this movie, purple rain he wrote every song on the album saw the movie in the theater and at the end I never ever saw a movie getting a screaming, standing ovation. Try to find that movie you’ll be blown away again.
My favorite ever. The rain made everything so much cooler. It was fucking with the electronics and made it sound so much cooler!! Also hes way more talented than jimi. I love Hendrix as much as tge next guy, but prince played every instrument and did all the vocals on all of his albums. Or at minimum most of them. Dudes is truly one of the greatest musicians ever. Truly.
