Senali Karunathilake if you must know, yes - objectively speaking my background is very privileged. However, that does not mean that I must justify my background or the background of those other privileged few (the royals being ridiculously privileged). The citizens of all modern democracies deserve better; the starting point for which is societal equality. Moreover, I do not care if the royals provide services to numerous charities. There are millions of average (great) people who work with and for charities on a daily basis, rendering services which are infinitely more useful to the charity and its goal than some royal hosting a gala dinner in their name or shaking a hand. If you want to make an argument for charity, then the taxpayers’ money should go straight to charity, rather than 10% of that money indirectly go to charity through royal donations etc. I could expand even more on this argument if you wish to debate this further. Hopefully, then I can change your mind - like most people I didn’t t realise how f’d any form of monarchy is until I actually lent some serious thought to it!

@@LayllasLocker not necessarily true with the reality they have, it is pretty sad, but I used to nanny for a family of very influent and rich politicians in my country and whenever kids were uncomfortable they would run to one of us from the staff, children from families like that are most likely to feel safer around employees than parents William and Kate are probably very present for their kids to see them as a comfort source (I'm so sorry, english is not my first language)

I know she would not want anyone to fuss over her and if she truly needed and wanted the help she would let the person know she needed their arm, am sure. but she tries hard to be so independent. Yes, she didn't force her to do anything that she was uncomfortable with. I noticed she grabbed Charlotte's hand after she kept feeling Charlotte grabbing her coat, even if that meant she couldn't shake any more hands. Good mothering instincts. Seems Charlotte just needed a bit of reassurance because she ended up choosing to hug that lady at the end with the fabulous glittery boa who gave her a pink flamingo!🦩

Kate forced Charlotte to shake hands with the old handicap woman in green and with the handicap boy but she flatly refused. She shaked hands with the priest though but not with the poor ones. She only chosed the people she shake hands with . She has indeed a bad attitude as I always noticed about her. And she did not steal the show because people (particualarly the handicap boy in wheelchair)were not even looking at her. Most of the people who were there were elderly ,most probably fans of the queen. Lesson: Dont exploit the kids just to get attention.

Leyla - Goodness, why being nasty to a kid. It's Christmas and no one is exploiting a kid. Get a grip. This is the child's first time to do a walkabout and meeting people. Do not assume that rejecting a hand shake would equal a bad attitude. She is obviously shy and not accustomed to meeting the crowd. Did you also see her hugging a woman, accepting a gift from someone, and thanking a kid for giving her flowers? Guess not.
