The cruise ship scheduled departure is typically 4pm and it is normally actually leaving at 4:30 and going under the Golden Gate Bridge between 5pm and 6pm
There are situations where the tide in San Francisco Bay is extremely low which may delay the departure time
One thing to accomplish on board before departure is the muster drill (what to do in an emergency). I tried watching the video while waiting in line in the terminal and was unable to do it. Once on board you can watch on your device or if you watch in the room TV then everyone assigned to the room gets credit for watching.
