The procession proceeds down the Mall, the sweeping boulevard that goes from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace. Here, the cortege is joined by Diana's brother, former husband, former father-in-law and her two sons, Princes William and Harry. Her mother and two sisters arrive at Westminster Abbey. A shot is seen of the Chief Rabbi, Dr Jonathan Sacks, noting he cannot go into the Abbey as 6 September 1997 was a Saturday. The Queen Mother is seen being driven the Abbey. The funeral occurred a month after her 97th birthday. She was to live until she was 101!
I had an email from a viewer asking for a copy of the tape. I am looking into acquiring the equipment to make copies of it onto DVD. If successful, I will make copies available. I already have the capacity to make PAL VHS copies. Please email if interested.

I have never seen anything more sad or brave than to see the princes walk behind their mothers coffin, and half to show no emotions, my heart broke for them.

Is the brother Catholic? He crossed himself as the coffin passed @ 1:37 ... I've never seen an Anglican do that.

Princess Diana's title as "Her Royal Highness" was taken away but you know what, as a kid Prince William told her " Don't worry mummy, I'll give it back to you one day when I am King" :'(

She loved her beloved boys, I nearly cried at them walking behind their mother's casket, harry trying to be so brave and william looking down and disguising his tears, she loved them and was not afraid to show that whereva she went, the royals could have learned a lesson in love from this kind and caring woman, they will grow up fine men because their mother taught them to be respectful to others regardless of class, and she lives on in them, r.i.p diana.

I feel for those two boys having to grieve in public like that. I often think how proud Diana would have been of her 'boys'. They have grown into fine young men.

Diana would have been so proud that Prince William married for love. Princess Catherine and Di would hav been very close i bet. Princess Catherine will change the monarchy forever and Diana is a proud mother-in-law up in heaven. God bless Prince William and Princess Catherine and RIP Diana!

Seeing William and Harry reminded me of Caroline and John Kennedy after JFK died. Little John saluting his father is the one picture from that funeral that makes me cry.

Those two young lads conducted themselves with a great deal of dignity that day; they were very brave to do that and I can't imagine what they must have been feeling inside. Diana would have been very proud.

I'm an American.. I was 10 years old...but I came home from school and heard the news... although I was young, I knew that the world grew a bit darker with Princess Diana gone thank you your highness for helping those in need around the world

14 years has passed and I still cry when I watch this. The sight of these young boys with their heads bowed as they follow Diana's coffin breaks my heart. No one can fill the emptiness that a mother's absence leaves behind. Such a sad day in history... not just for the Royal family and for England, but in general. She truly was the People's Princess.

i stii remember my mum tellin me diana was dead tears running down her face it was a sad day. She was a women tat touched the world in here own way and will never be forgotten. lots of luv from ireland.

@rockchick18495 It is formality, grace under pressure, the way to behave in public while concealing private grief. I've no doubt he comforted his children in private, but the boys doubtless wanted to march as "men" for their mother. I get it.

I watched this live. Then I watched Will and Kate's wedding and got an eerie shock seeing the brothers riding together to the church. It was like time doubling.

I think it says a lot for the Royal family that her ex husband and ex father in law would walk behind the coffin - yes, it was to help the sons, but it's still respectful and I admire them for that

Agree totally- it is obvious that they love their mother. Began to warm up to Price Philip after this-- heard he told William and Harry that if they didn't walk behind the coffin they would regret it and that he would walk with them if they wanted someone to walk with them.

@rockchick18495 its comes down to that whole "royal standars" that the family could not show emotiions in public like that...when the boys were crying it had to be behind closed doors so noone would see that...I mean WTF these kids just lost their mother

My heart goes out to the young Princes, what a shadow of sorrow and heartbreaking imaginable they possess all throughout this procession and the very moment they heard the news about their beloved mother. They are the best precious fruits that were borne from this marriage.

Princess Diana's funeral should have been a private affair and she should have been laid to rest in her family crypt instead of the island where she is now I hope William has her moved to somewhere private where nobody can disturb her ever again R.I.P Diana we love you and we miss you dearly and we have a special place in our hearts now and forever

I remember what I was doing when I heard that awful day... and every moment of this funeral like it was yesterday. I stayed up late to watch it live her in New Zealand. It was on at something like 1am.... She will never be replaced. We are not lucky enough to have more than one star that shines so brightly in a lifetime...

i remember watching her funeral. I was 7 and right away on a orange piece of paper ( i dont know why i remember the color) i wrote a note to "God" asking Him to let her be in heaven ...im 21 now ...so odd to think that I wrote a letter ...RIP Princess

I was 15 when Diana died,for the majority of my life I remember her face being on the cover of every women's magazine,every week,there wasn't a woman as photographed and as hunted as her. I remember the day she died and the days after it like it was yesterday,,I remember all the flowers outside Kensington palace,the "mummy" on one of the wreaths and the applause following her brother's speech. And most of all I remember before her death how much she adored her boys.

@KingKushTV Conspiracy theories such as this have been disproved by numerous inquests and investigations in France and Britain... it amazes and saddens me that people seek to romanticise events such as this. This was hard for everybody, INCLUDING the Royal Family.

@rockchick18495 well, to be fair, the royals aren't known for their PDsA; Wills & Kate are the first royals I've seen holding hands in public. I'm no fan of what he & Camilla did to Diana, but Charles really gets an unfairly bad rep when it comes to his being a father. During the funeral, when Elton John sang "Candle in the Wind", both Wills & Harry broke down and sobbed; Charles held them both and sobbed along with them. We didn't see that, as cameras weren't allowed on them during the service.

I remember watching this when I was 6, my mother was bawling the whole time. Diana would have been so proud of William on Friday - the only heartbreaking part of he service was the fact that she wasn't there. She should have been in Camilla's place, but I'm sure she was there in spirit, smiling widely with pride at her oldest son and his beautiful wife.

It was a shock how could such a beautiful human being fortunate in so many ways by the grace of god ....the lord giveth and taketh away a mystery known only to him feel sad for the brit's and her children, stiff upper lip quivering a little bit :( sad sad sad time
