I’m lowkey mad at the audience for not being more enthusiastic lmao like you’re witnessing two beautiful talented women who are both dancing to some of the best music and they’re both doing a great job. How can you not be pumped??
Yoshie had *amazing* moves and footwork, but Princess Madoki really told a story that felt true to the song she was performing. All that soul and emotion she put into her routine really paid off.
the thing about yoshie's dance is that it can be done to almost any music. it doesn't necessarily relate to this specific song. it's like she's dancing through the music and not relating to it as much as madoki.
iwasborntobefly Excellent point. I felt as if I was watching a lot of technique and no real feeling. She connects for split milliseconds here and there whereas Princess Madoki is just fluid and works all of the floor.
I think Yoshi has more of a dominant Locking style anyway that doesn't really fit with Waacking, hence the shoes. Princess Madoki completely understands the whole concept of Waacking, Punking and Posing to it's very core and that directly relates through the music. A very acute observation, one I fully agree with. If you want to see some great Japanese Waackers look up Yumeki and Ibuki, by far two of the best up and coming generation.
I think the issue with Yoshi is not only connectivity to music, but she never really stops moving. Princess really knows how to work the songs and dance in the pause,if that makes sense. It’s like in music how it’s important for musicians to play the rests and treat it like playing.
Yoshie’s movements seemed like just a shuffle of heavily rehearsed dance moves that didn’t relate to the music at all, but Princess really embodied the spirit and told the story of every song. It takes more than being a good dancer to win this kind of thing, it also requires being able to embody the music in that way.
In my humble estimation, Madoki won the first two rounds, Yoshie, the third. But really, what does it matter. They are both great dancers! As Bartok said, "competition is for horses, not artists". We don't need to fight about who is better. They are both wonderful, and deserve kudos. It's simply a pleasure to watch them--and I'd personally live in a world with more talent rather than less ;)
I think competition is for humans, not for horses (or any other animal). In fact, when humans train animals for competition, they are really competing between themselves and the animal is the equivalent of a "car", to put an example. Humans use competition so they can evolve and improve. Competition can be with oneself or with others and is not obligatory. Is a tool that can be used for everyone and is a great tool. They are so great dancer in part thanks to competition.
Im 7years late ... but what kind of dumbfuck are you to think that competition arent for humans? Literally horses competition were made by humans, wild horse wouldn't compete at running.
sometimes its not the techniek only but the feeling most imprtant!!!damn i can see it comes from madoki her bones true soul!!! i miss that in people now a days!!!
I have absolutely no clue what waacking is but seeing them dance feels like more than just that- they are FEELING IT and bringing the house down! For a performance it’s so joyful
They were both great but Princess was more fluid, used the beat to her advantage, & her moves seemed to be focused on the audience, enticing them to return energy to her more!! Both RADICAL dancers!!
If you can't dance like them, stop judging ppl! Yoshie is a soul dancer, her body isolation are better then a lot ppl. Madoki has his own character.that is not easy to dance with a own character.
I really want a Steven Universe episode that is just a half hour dance off competition that comes to beach city. I want Garnet to barely win, and tell the competitor something encouraging, while Pearl sulks, and Amethyst beats out Stevonnie.
Damn, is Princess Madoki Garnet's real mom? Cause she got all the moves attitude and that power move she pulled when she sitting hopped towards Yoshie was like 'WHOA!' This style really suits Garnet and I'm going to now practice it
