A few weeks after the earthquake hit Japan, I found myself on a plane back to the US and leaving my life behind. I listened to this song on repeat on the 14 hour flight, as I made my own journey to the west
I saw this for the first time when I was probably around 8, and I cried a lot after it ended. And it took me a while before I could watch the movie and not cry. Point is, this movie touched my heart and I wish I could personally thank Miyazaki for all of his creations
Joe Hisaishi's orchestra is great, but in a few ways I prefer this version of "Journey to the West" over his very own. It's been like 10 years and I still stop by this vid to listen. Very well done! I would love to hear this live some day.
There are no words to explain the feeling the music from this movie gives me. It's like comfort, love, sadness, joy, and euphoria all mixed into one. This is the definition of beauty.
One of my favorites of all time. I used to listen to this when I went camping back in the days. Brings back the wonderful memories when I spent time with mother nature ^^
I seriously just watched this 6 times in a row. SO beautiful. The only thing better than listening to a fully orchestrated piece is watching the performance at the same time. I love watching orchestras because of the intense emotion they put into their music. This song is SO beautiful.
ah, I'll never forget the day my mom picked up Princess Mononoke by mistake and I watched it 3 times in a row :D Miyazaki is truly a genius, and the music in his films is magical
The movie was even more unbelieveable. Being the harsh movie critic I am, I was utterly STUNNED by the movie. It was magnificant. Anyone who hasn't seen it is missing a huge part. Miyazaki films are always phenomenal.
I cant tell you how many times I have put this movie on just before I go to sleep, letting the soothing sounds carry me off into the land of Nod........... Thanks for the Upload..
I had goosebumps throughout the entire song. Listening the the beautiful arrangement not only brought the emotions from the movie to life, but my love of music as well. It brought tears to my eyes from how moved I was.
Mononoke-hime is, in my opinion, the best animated feature ever produced. Ever since I saw it for the first time, I've loved it. All aspects are perfect, and the score is, as you know, extremely good.
I agree it is beautiful and insperational. I am a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki and his work. Along with the music he chose for his movies are fabulous. I cant get enough. 10stars
I remember sitting totally entranced the first time I saw this movie in the late 90s. I was a member of an anime club that regularny leased a movie theatre and showed anime that they'd went to Japan and bought, and subtitled. At that time anime had almost no distributors. I thought it was amazing that movies like these didn't get the recognition they deserve in the west. I'm glad now that they do. The message I got from this movie was Be kind to nature and it will reward you.
oh ya big time. I play band and he really helps. He tells when you to come in, what beat you are playing, what feeling, when you start, stop, helps when you get lost, brings everyone together if there are gaps in the song, sets the tone, moniters the volume, ensures your pitch, moniters if the song is legato (soft), or is the part is forte (loud). aw man, believe me, he is extremely important. he's the one to bring the band or orchestra together. The keyhole to a lock if you may.
Every time I hear the building crescendo near the end, I get goosebumps. Especially at the scenes the the movie where it occurs. This song has so much emotion and power, that you can't help but be completely moved by it.
Same here. It's hard not to become emotional when listening to anything Hisaishi writes for Miyazaki's films! But the soundtrack for Mononoke-hime in particular is an absolute masterpiece.
so sad yet beautiful, i have never before experienced so much beauty in a single sitting.....butterflies in my soul and fire to my fingers my mind races like a bolt of lightning in a black sky reflecting upon my spirit like mirrored crystals....renewing my urge to compose once again poetry.....thank you....
this is undoubtedly the most emotional song from the soundtrack... and my favourite film EVER! Thank you SOOOOO much for posting this... (You Rock! ^.^)
