Princesses is a short lived 90s sitcom starring Fran Drescher, Twiggy and Julie Hagerty, it was cancelled after 8 episodes.
I currently have 5 episodes and the last 3 are missing. The last 3 were unaired but later in 2004 RTL aired the whole series, including the last 3, TV Land also re aired the whole series apart as their 'Sunday Spotlight Series' in 2010 2012 and maybe 2015.
If you have any information my email is in the 'About Me'
Synopsis:
In the beginning, Melissa and Tracy move out of their apartment to move into a Manhattan penthouse. Tracy is getting married soon and got this penthouse from a friend of her future husband. When the two visit the luxury apartment, they meet Georgy, an English princess who also claims ownership of it. Georgie's husband, who made her a princess, has just died but left her little. But now the wedding is getting closer and it turns out that Tracie's fiancé has lied to her about many things. So she lets him sit at the altar and the three women decide to live together in the penthouse.

Ok, so Fran is Fran, no matter in which role. 😂

This isn’t terrible but it wasn’t worth losing *The Nanny* for. At least Julie Hagerty had a career redemption with *The Marriage Story.*

Take this like for not only giving us this pilot, but giving us a slice of early 90s advertising.

The first I'm even aware this sitcom ever existed. 1991 was hellishly hectic and stressful year for me, there was no time for evening television whatsoever. I missed out on a lot in the late eighties and early nineties. Glad that during The Nanny's run things calmed significantly.

Me too. I was 3 and it was hellishly hectic. I could barely keep up with life and narcissistic parents. Anyway ❤️

I heard about this show, but never actually saw it until now. The only reason they were able to use a song from *Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs* is because Disney didn’t actually own the publishing rights and they did not start a music publishing company until around the time *Song of the South* came out.

I remember seeing ads for this show as a kid, but had never actually watched it until now. This episode was so fun, I loved it! Thanks so much for uploading this; I’m obsessed with the 80s and early 90s, and it’s a bummer this show didn’t run longer. The actors are great and the premise is fun-I wish there were more episodes/seasons to binge! 🩷 *Also, I LOVE that the original commercials were left in!!! 😍😍😍🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I had never heard of this show before, but watching episodes of The Nanny is what brought me here. The show actually isn't that bad, so it is hard to understand why it was considered a disaster.

Julie Haggerty walked out on the show. Don't know why?
@dieterdelange9488
@dieterdelange9488 4 месяца назад
@@dolphinsrr Apparently there was drama/tension off-screen, albeit whether it was between the cast or staff I don't know. Otherwise I think the other main reason it flopped is because the writers/producers had good ideas but didn't execute them properly.

Julie wasn't getting many laughs from the studio audience, and she was jealous of Twiggy and Fran because they were. She didn't like the way her character was being written. (The producers agreed after the fact that they didn't, either.) Also, she was one of those Bea Arthur/Carol Burnett/Kathy Najimy "You can't cancel me, I quit!" types. They would all take one look at the ratings, realize their show was done-for, and before the plug was formally pulled, they loudly pronounced that they were quitting, trying to make it look to the world as if the show couldn't go on without them, when in reality the show wasn't going on with them. There was nothing left for Julie to quit. CBS ordered 8 episodes. She did 8. They didn't order any more. They didn't even air all 8 that she did do.

I found this from the Lost Media Wiki. Honestly the concept is fine and the cast I think works but I can see why it didn't take off. It doesn't stand out and honestly isn't too entertaining.

Barry Kemp was the creator of *Newhart.* Based on that, I can understand why expectations for this show were unrealistically high considering he created one of their few sitcom hits in the 1980s. Funny how CBS had the sitcoms everybody wanted to watch in the early 70s and NBC had relatively few by comparison, but then in the 1980s NBC had the most hits in that genre while CBS’s were few and far between. Brandon Tartikoff managed to see Fred Silverman at his worst, and that inspired him to be his best, and the other two dinosaur networks just couldn’t compete.

Julie Hagerty's performance on this show was okay, but her performance in the two "Airplane!" films was pretty great in my opinion. Hagerty's chemistry with Robert Hays in those movies amuses me, if you people asked me.

Julie Hagerty walked off around in ep 5 and the nielsen ratings for the show were very low, Fran suggested to replace Julie for another person but CBS axed it before they had the chance to find someone new.

If they were younger like in Caroline in the Big City or perhaps Friends and this has been created in the mid or late 1990s vrs. early where shows about Women not living a conservative lifestyle were panned like Murphey Brown. Later applauded like Sex in the City. this show could have worked. I am a fan of The Nanny and see a lot of similarities here but The Nanny is just so much more lively. It is also interesting both shows focus on a social Upper Class. Especially more so The Nanny but apparently this show had bad publicity upon its creation. I would be interesting to hear what it was? Or if peoplw just found this show a bit to stuffy for its time?

The show had a bad time slot. (Jeff "If I haven't already cancelled it in 3 weeks, it's been on too long" Sagansky kept throwing adult sitcoms on Friday nights -- where adult sitcoms shouldn't have been -- and expected them to immediately perform opposite TGIF, which ABC had spent years nurturing.) And it had a bad promotional campaign. A lot of affiliates didn't even air it, which made the ratings even worse than they would have been. To say the critics did not like it as much as they liked its companion show, "Brooklyn Bridge," would be a mild understatement. Finally, the neurotic jews who ran CBS spent years yanking everything off the network, so viewers didn't want to commit to anything to begin with. Granted, I don't know that there was a time slot where it would have done well. The scripts were the same thing every week and the concept itself was hardly relatable to the heartland.
