As a teacher who has had to do these drills and have these conversations with my students, from 4-14, i see nothing wrong. As someone mentioned, these kids play video games where they die all the time. But preparing kids for what is the reality in this country, is causing this controversy? Whats the root to all of this. Lack of gun control. Instead of coming at the principal lets come at this country for not protecting their citizens the way they need to. It is unfortunate that we are the only country who deals with these devastations. Preparation is key in this climate.

Teachers can’t seem to catch a break. How does this deserve Donkey of the Day? There are more mass shootings in schools than actual fires?! The students were informed that it was a drill. No one wonder teachers are leaving the profession.

I'm not gonna lie in with Envy cuz those parents are like omg the trauma but they know they kids play like that at home with their siblings and friends. Hell I've even seen them play like that in daycares. If anything those parents should play practicing like that with their kids at home just to be safe cuz you never know nowadays.

Based on what I've seen and done back in my high school days on fire drills, principal should not be fired at all. All my fire drills was me and about 40% of the kids using that as a way to go home. Worse ones be the one where someone called in a fake bomb threat on a fire drill or that one random person screaming something, throwing everyone in panic. People don't take it seriously. I never did

Because when it actually goes down all of those teachers and kids are caught like deer in headlights so wouldn't it make sense to be able to be prepared for the absolute worst? In a drill scenario you need to understand what is the potential to happen

Y'all need to be put on Admin leave for making this a DOTD. She was in character, and some people learn from demonstration. Military trains soldiers for war before war by simulating attacks, and no one ever complains about that. If the kids got shot, the message is to find a better place for cover and concealment. Just as soldiers have choices to sign up. Parents have choices to home school or send their kids to public school. Free Principal Denson

I honestly dont uderstand the isssue here. It was an 'active shooter' drill..I am seriously confused about what the outrage is about. The parent asked "can you imagine the trauma.." huh?? How about the trauma of ACTUALLY BEING SHOT?? idk..how do you effectively prepare anyone (especially little kids) for this type of thing. The whole purpose for the drill in itself is pretty traumatic I would think for little kids but on the other hand, its a lot less traumatic then the real thing

I get it. Every active shooter drill we have had, the kids just dont get it. They are noisy and are playing around. One teacher remarked that if this were real, it would be game over. And during a fire drill admin snatched up a few kids to see how the staff would respond. That was traumatic. This put those teachers in tears. No one cared then.

In college we had a professor so something similar...it wasn't an active shooter drill (those weren't invented yet)...but he had said he'd shoot the Asian kid but miss and hit the African American students instead. That was the last time he taught and he just became a advisor or something
