i couldn't have made this without my newly expanded team. They're gonna take these videos to the next level and I couldn't be more excited. More things comin' 🙏
@@Mechanicalamity I feel like cinemasins points out the logical aspects someone should do mostly in horror movies (where the protagonist makes the questionable/wrong decisions) sometimes in animated films too
@@sinnamonski685 That is true about most of the stuff he says, but he sometimes seems to think that characters in movies should know that they’re in a movie
That is a real thing. It made me remember the one where they'd just randomly send the massive chicken document to their unsecured wireless printer. chicken chicken chicken? Chicken chicken chicken. * venn diagram of chickens *
I know right? Like 90% of friend duos in cartoons and TV shows are like only one is smart and the other one is stupid. Zach and Mike on the other hand literally take turns using braincells.
As someone who works at Staples, I too can attest that our boss laughs diabolically everytime someone bundles printers and announces it in pride to everyone.
Hey! Did you know God is three in one!? The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit! Bless them! Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead, and gives salvation to everyone who believes in him and follows his commandants! Have a blessed day, everyone! ❤
They’re putting chips in cartridges to lock them from being refilled. That’s not just bad for the customer, you’re literally wasting computer parts in a time where that material could go to better use!
@@patrickkirby6580 tl:dr (even though I know you're not braindead enough to actually say that unironically) your rights end where other's rights begin.
I love at 2:57 where he is obviously listening and looking between them as they talk, being polite enough not to interrupt them while they talk, only cutting them off when they start to try to apply their silly plan to him. Also can't get enough of that close up, eye squint shot at 3:17 when he says "THE LAWS OF ROBOTICS. ARE. FICTIONAL." xD
I absolutely LOVE how they are actually really smart in this episode and are not full on morons, really adds to their character! Sure they goof up still but they feel so much more realistic now, amazing job man!
@@jamesmccomb9525 Characters need to have a reason to make decisions, in a lot of media characters just do dumb shit for the sake of it. Here you can see their line of reasoning, which is nice because they are dipshits but in an understandable way
The micro-expressions are so amazing. That split second at 2:23 when Zach realizes Mike is making a dad joke as soon as he says "hungry" is the funniest shit.
4:49 - 4:55: The hardest animated part of the video, 100%. I appreciate the level of commitment and effort you put into that, it really shows! We need more quality animation like this in everyone's videos.
The "need color to print black and white" bit is because the printer injects its serial number with everything you print. It is how they caught manning.
We've experienced the "haunted printer", and the "store credit scam", but Piemations has brought us a totally new hazard that we should all be aware of.
I love that the printer gained sinister arms and legs plus an eye, but didn’t change in any other visible way. It’s still a printer, but it’s also now a well designed evil robot. Simplicity can work wonders
This one was actually nutty. I keep thinking your animation can’t get any higher quality, and then you keep proving me wrong! Exceptional work, Mike! And don’t worry. I’m addicted to Pop Tarts, too. They have plenty of nutritional value.
@2:21 I'm not sure why but I can't stress enough how much I love even just the little details in this joke. The way Zach's eyes furrow when he realizes what Mike is doing is hilarious enough, but even when yelling through gritted teeth to stop him, he finishes the joke. I can't stop laughing at it.
I noticed that despite still being very silly, these two have become a lot more grounded and a bit more serious. I feel like the new contrast of realistic personalities and weird situations suits this series very well. I'm looking forward to the new direction this is going in.
I really love the expressions you give them, they almost hit more than the jokes themselves. The dynamic Mike and Zach have is hilarious. The best way to describe it is that Zach can be 75% brains, 25% fun stupidity, while mike is 25% brains, 75% fun stupidity. One isn’t completely stupid, and it feels like they take turns using the only brain cell, instead of having the smart straight man and the fun idiot. TLDR I love this short!
5:17 I just realized that the fact that the insides of their mouths don't show when they talk probably implies that the inside of their mouths are covered in black ink
I love this it went from 'uh, what. Hey you did this?' to 'Hey you're doing a bit!' to 'Oh someone is hacking us' to 'Nope! power off!' like such fun escalation of problem solving.
I LOVE the sound design in this! The way the robot audibly shakes at “NEED magenta ink!” And then punches the wall, it’s hilarious. Awesome work on this, you guys!
@@annbutler4164 it was sarcasm directed at "@Icey Artist"'s comment related to this animation being reminiscent of South Park's style. Because the Mike&Zach series's style came to being thanks to Piemation's Suction-cup Man, whose creation and style started off as a South Park parody. THAT is why I said "I wonder why".
Fun fact: at school one time we were messing with microscopes and me and my friends decided to put a printed piece of paper with only black tekst on it. When we looked at the black tekst under the microscope we found that it was actually not just black but also cyan, yellow and magenta, which we couldn’t see normally
@@leo_the_lizard Actually, both can be correct but it depends on the context. With traditional art where you use physical paints and canvases, black would be all the colors mixed together as paint reflects color by absorbing parts of the light spectrum while with digital art, white would be all the colors mixed together as each color is basically code for mixtures of red, blue, and green and white is all these colors on near or complete full blast. I hope this was mildly interesting to hear.
@@abcdefg-hv2ks What the fuck are you talking about, lmao. The reason you find a bunch of Cyan and other colors mixed in is because the printer companies do that on purpose to force you to buy colored ink. They put minute amounts of cyan in to the point where it's not noticable by the human eye, so even if you only print in black and white it will use colored ink, and the printer won't allow you to print if you have no colored ink. That was the whole joke of the video.
4:09 nobody has talked about this bit where the evil robot printer tore the door off the hinges and mike says "FUCK. I forgot to lock the door-" it's such an underrated moment in this video
4:20 "Uhh, we were just looking for the magenta we keep in mikes room, right mike?" "Uhhh" Stretches arms, short pause to think, then claps them together once he got the idea to follow through "Yeah, I do keep magenta ink in my bedroom..." I love it when animators really connect with human movements and thoughts lmao
Most animators actually do the movements they’re thinking of in real life before they create it fully. This is usually to get a reference on what to do and it usually comes out really smooth.
I felt that "This is what makes me happy" line. It resonates so hard with the vibe of "I don't know why, but this makes me feel better" sensation a lot of get when we finally find that dumb thing that puts a smile on our face.
I will say, I do like the dynamic Zach & Mike have in the show. Could’ve easily made one dumb and one smart, but no, both are equally smart and dumb in their own way, making it unpredictable as to who is gonna be the source of a problem in any episode. Making it all the more hilarious.
Amazing work, as always! This is a legit problem in life though, so I did some research and found that you can actually buy printers with ink reservoirs that you just pour ink into, instead of cartridges! They are significantly more expensive, but don't let the low cost of standard printers fool you - many companies actually sell printers *at a loss* and get their money back from the exorbitant cost of cartridges.
The animation on this one is so well done as always! I also love the cardboard like textures are more noticeable than before and this one really made me laugh a lot (especially at 2:22) and this also makes me really excited to see what the future projects hold as well Also how come nobody’s talking about the new outro? I’ll miss the old one but I do really like the new one, it just makes this feel fresh
3:53 I love it when I get unreasonably excited over a simple shadow cast beneath the characters, I don’t why but saying that out loud makes me feel like an idiot. But other than that, I think this animation is top notch, always high quality and I think that’s great! Big respects to the lovely animators who worked on this, oh and can I head bump you? Y’know, like a cat? Because my internet avatar is a funny-lookin’ cat and human hybrid thing?
I honestly feel like the two moments where Mike and Zach clinged to each other for dear life are super underrated. It shows just how much they care about and find refuge in each other, especially in dangerous situations! A true bestie dynamic :)
First time I listened to this was on my phone. Now that I'm watching with a headset on, I have to say that the sound design and music created for this is top notch as well. This is easily studio quality made for TV. And done better than most of those studios.
@@WarlordofWarren Right? You take it for granted on the first watch and don't notice it, and that's because it's made so perfectly in time with the animation that it all fits as one piece
Sir/ma’am/other, not to be “that guy”, but I’m totally being “that guy”, but they are *bop* tarts, not *pop* tarts. This was a joke please do not be mad-
The printer saying "I feel like shit" after eating the "poptarts" fucking *sent* me lol Super awesome seeing that Crowne helped here :D You all did amazing!
Imagine building a house of pop tarts and literally two minutes later have a walking, talking death printer in your living room. Oh how fast things escalate 😂
The reason printers are cheap is because they earn their money by selling overpriced ink cartridges. They also have that protection against cheap non-brand alternatives, using all your color when you print B&W, and just scummy business practices.
I love how these animations are steadily becoming the new Eddsworld to me. (disclaimer: this isn't a slight against the current Eddsworld team. They're still very good, I'm saying Piemations is reaching a comparable level of good to Eddsworld).
Omg I literally just left a comment like this! I was staying how it feels like the same kind of humor and absurd situation! It gives me a weird sense of nostalgia. It’s great!
i love the goofy awkward comedy and voice acting. the pace of it is so fun. great job mike and your entire team! my fav part was "THE DOOR!" "THE TABLE."
It’s been a good long while since I’ve heard a good “piemations yeeaah” glad to have ya back in action. And great work with the animation, it’s very well done. 👍
Other cartoons: Use humor or charm to deconstruct complex geopolitical/ideological issues into consumable products to teach, guide, or satirize Piemations: Don't you just hate printers nowadays?
@@rambo8863 but those printers have been tamed already, and their handlers are always nearby so theres no issue, getting one in your home though is a differetn thing all togeter.
This is an absolutely incredible sketch. I've come to expect quality from Piemations but dang you guys outdid yourself here! The wit, the timing... *chefs kiss* It has been a blast seeing you guys grow, keep up the good work!
this was hilarious. great animation and stellar comedic timing with your jokes (actually good comedic writing put you guys a cut above many online content creators). cant wait for more, yall :D
