On the mindset during gaming topic. I feel like mindset is one of the most important transferable skills in rouge likes. Being able to analyze why a run ended up losing or winning is essential for improvement on all levels. From when you just started a game, to when you're reaching it's highest difficulties.
4:19 makes a really good point, radial aoes are going to be a lot stronger than pierce in ror2 if they do comparable damage, since the extra dimension means they cover a lot more area Maybe I’m just dum but I didn’t think of that until now :)
The reason I love mando so much is because he has no gimmicks. He is straight forward to a fault so it forces use of item, positioning and mechanical knowledge and optimisation to be able to win. This reliance player ability makes a win feel far more earned than most other characters such as loader who has a natural advantage over mando in a lot of aspects.
Tbf, food gets boring alot faster than a game made specifically to be repayable. It's not like a rouglike food exists, where the spices, seasoning, and cooking methods are completely randomized everytime.
@@candacefullrv9291But games are made to be entertainment. Food is just a few minutes of your day spent eating that's necesary for survival. Sitting on the toilet also gets boring but I actually prefer to sit on the same one every day.
after about 100 hours of picking the 2 characters I did enjoy playing (huntress and artificer) I started using the random character and loadout mod so it stays fresh every run.
Race I need some advice, my most common death that I get in ror2 recently is having a gup or two spawn right in front of me and just murder me like a second later, is there a way to deal with this because these deaths feel really bullshit and I honestly don't know what I could do to avoid it
Printers are one aspect of this game that makes RoR2 very unique. Literally either by helping with some consistency, a boost in the mid game, or giving you very stupid strategies if you're willing to dump all your items. Also I kinda like Commando because he's really basic. If I don't really want to think too much about tech or character specific strats, I load up the Mando. He's a pretty alright generalist character.
The stuff that frustrates me about making mistakes is that i have often made the same mistake before and already identified it and how to not make it anymore. I get very frustrated with myself when i do the same incorrect action multiple times. The first time it happens is not a big deal, and i consider it to be a learning experience. When I fail to learn and improve from it though, that's when I get most frustrated with myself.
Understanding that - while frustrating - it is something that happens to everyone is important. We’re all not perfect, and we all make mistakes. It takes time to reinforce those lessons to override the habits we currently have in place. To hold yourself to a standard above everyone else as an excuse to be mean to yourself is a recipe for frustration no matter what. Be kind, bad habits are hard to break, be proud of yourself instead that mental effort and analyzing is being put forth towards it. Just takes time to “cook out the wine”, can’t be good at things instantly
Usually my losses in this game can be chalked up to punishment for excessive hubris That or lack of foresight. Like forgetting that void cradles can break my watches or that mithrix gets empathy cores.
the more you play the more you'll incorporate those things into the forefront of your attention. how many times can you really break your watches on void cradles before you start to remember :) just keep playin and try your best to put mental focus on the things that you may have messed up on
On the topic of playing a variety of characters: I tend to get obsessed with one thing. Right now thats bandit. I want to learn fiend and captain but im addicted to backstab crits.
I swear I must be going insane because when I saw you pick up the shustice I instantly thought: "What if there's a recycler and he gets a scorpion?" and then it actually happened.
Commandos fun you just can’t run him optimally the same way you’d run other builds, stacking effects seems best and I enjoy it. Also plasma shrimp is my favorite item and it goes CRAZY on him
Yeah, I played a lot of games where I would often forget to manually save, so I got to train myself to keep chill about it and get up to that point again but better. Also, Risk of Rain mobile actually hurts me to play 😭 Enemies body block you constantly and you can't walk around them because the map areas are so small
My first E8 win was on mando, took a week with about 3 or 4 hours a day to win. That was a bad week for my mental health. Also pre dlc on console so everything was buggy
i used to get mad at games all the time too and then i played dark souls in middle school and got taught a lesson in it being my fault that i was losing the video game and i dont get mad much at games anymore. i still do sometimes, but only at really poorly designed games or sections of games
We need to get used to things being a cumulative process rather than an individual goal. Its easier to set ourselves in a healthier spot where failures are part of a process instead of the end of the line.
Another character i see a lot of hate is REX, he's not unplayable trash with his non-damaging abilities, his M2 and root R SHRED bosses like paper with deathmark, but anorher character that people keep overhyping into oblivion is Huntress, they just keep saying "b-but she has m-mobility and s-speed", yeah, so does Arti, Loader and Railgunner, people just dont understand that she's just really outclassed and overperformed by so many other survivors, it's almost sad how much she sucks even with Balista and triple Blink
I personally belive mando is the best character because hes the only chracter ive ever played thats been able to win with a bottled chaos woodsprite and gloop build. .-. Not even joking over half my mithrix dmg came from accidental gloops.
When I first started playing the game I thought commando looked like the most boring lame character so I never played him. Soon enough I started the e8 grind so I had to play him and I thought he was awful until I beat e1. Now I love him
