I absolutely love the matte paper for the groyne photo. It looks like something out of an old black and white movie. Very Sherlock Holmes-esque.

I must thank you for making my mind up for me. I initially started looking at the canon pixma pro 200, then the Epson P-700, that is until today after discovering your channel ( I have subscribed ) and I have now decided the canon Prograf 300 is the best for my needs after watching you use it and the beautiful results it gave you. Thanks so much. I hope to learn so much about printing from you. Great Channel and photographer.

Thank you. I only shoot B+W film so you have convinced me to go Pro Premium High Gloss. I don't want everything super sharp with my photos so the gloss is perfect.

I agree, the matt definitely shows more detail. Gobs a good un. Nice comparison of all the papers. I have to really think about which to buy because printing isnt cheap, so this has helped a lot. Thank you.

Very good video Mark, there is definitely something special in holding, inspecting and then framing your own images. That old Oak of yours looked great on the Lustre paper..A2 size as well I think..Will look great on the wall.

Are you sure you've used the right profiles? The differences shown are way beyond what I've ever got from one image on several different papers (from rough matt vs smooth, then satin, lustre, standard & ultra gloss). Seriously - I'd complain to the manufacturer if I got those differing results from using their papers with the correct profiles for the given printer & ink!

Canon's PP&L has pre-loaded ICC profiles for Canon's own papers, this is difficult to mess up.

To me no question the Matt pops of the paper. Far far nicer than the gloss. With regards the tree. There does seem to much post editing has been done making it very orange on the Luster paper or a mistake with the profile?…The Matt tree is much more realistic looking, natural. I like the textured finish a lot too, Canon do a smooth texture art paper which may suit your tree better?

I use an Epson SureColour P600 and the Epson gloss for my sports shots/team photos and Epson matt for my wildlife for exactly the reasons that you said Mark.

Excellent vlog Mark, really shows the difference in the paper choice, on that note I liked the rough texture but as you say, in the corners it was very noticeable, perhaps a slightly smoother textured paper might have yielded a better rendition of the image, just a thought,

@@MarkKerton Just one small question. Do you know how to download Canon Professional Print and Layout software as a stand alone? I have a Windows 11 pc and use Affinity Photo 2 in post which doesn't support the software as a plugin. Any help gratefully received. Ian

Hi Mark , fantastic in-depth printer and paper info . I'm now looking at buying my own printer to bring some of my images to life ! ( just a hobby ) , I'm looking at the pro-300 or 1000 . I'm just a bit concerned that the small inks on the 300 could work out more expensive ! , yes the cost of the printer and inks are much less than the 1000 but I just wondered how you were finding the ink usage on the 300 now you've had it a while .

good video. i have a question i find very difficult to solve myself. I plan to give my clients an A2 print in frame with plexyglas. i have the pro 1000. and i cant deside with which paper to go. is there a rule or something if you put photo in a glas or plexyglas frame ?

@3.00... The colors vary a little bit. Really ? I mean, it looks like a 30% orange filter was applied with photoshop. Great video otherwise, but I wouldn't have said a little bit. Serious color cast shift there... Very nice to give us a side by side large print paper outcome. Thank you.

Hello Mark and Fellow Artists; I am an Oil Painter and like to start producing Quality Limited Editions of my Oil Paintings. I am very new to this and like to know some step-by-step instructions--from Taking Pictures of the Art and preparing them to print. I do have a good Canon Camera. Does anyone here know if there are RU-vid step-by-step instructional videos preparing the artwork for printing?
