The 600x is worth every penny. Some folks don't know there are 1000 bikes that cost alot more that have less ability. Love it.

Glad to hear you like yours too! It seems, with every bike I own, I always do a few mods to make it fit me the way I need it too. I swapped out the saddle which I do on every bike and since my legs are very long, I installed a set back seat post that I ordered on Amazon. Fits me and is tuned perfectly for my body now!

Thank you for this! This sounds like the bike for which I’ve been looking. I have a couple of older good quality and light hard tails (Cannondale Flash 3, Kona Kula, etc) that I’ve been modifying and tinkering with to convert them to a bike similar to this. Water down slightly the every day mountain bike part of it so it rolls and performs better on asphalt and urban environments and is comfortable to ride, but still retain the mountain bike soul. This bike sounds like it ticks all those boxes.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 10 месяцев назад
You are absolutely correct, Richard! When my current tires wear out, I’m going to go on a search for some tires that would be better for asphalt, but would also get me through on mountain bike trails as well. I don’t know what they are yet, definitely want to look at Schwalbe, I believe they will have a perfect tire in their huge line of tires. My goal is to have this bike be my do everything bike. I’m not out to win races, so I’m not concerned about top speed, however, I want the least rolling resistance that I can get, while still getting me through on trails. Safe, adventuring out there! If you ever decide to get one, here is my affiliate link, which gets me a little bit back to support my channel and my video production. Hey there. New to the channel. Thanks so much for the review. I'm trying to convince myself. Ive never been bikepacking but want to try it. I realize its a low maintenance bile but wasn't sure if local bike shops would even know how to work on it. Thanks for the info
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 10 месяцев назад
Hi 👋 there! Thanks for watching and commenting! My experience has been that good bike shops with really good, career minded mechanics love to see a different bike come in. It breaks the monotony of working on the same style of bike components day after day. When I have had my Brompton, Apollo and 600X in for service, they have always been great at it. More and more bikes are coming out with internal gearing, so they won’t be totally foreign to most mechanics. That being said, with the 600X Pinion, these gears are designed for very high mileage with proper maintenance. You’ll likely never have anything that needs to be done to them other than changing out the gear fluid every 6,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Hope this helps, have a great weekend! @KayakCliff pretty much the same thing for me. I've never gone, but really want to. Also this isn't a good time of the year to go, at least not in Arizona even if you like the heat. I really like the bike and thought about getting one, but the geometry just isn't suited for my type of riding. I planned on doing a custom built frame for a gear box, but skipped out on that since prices have jumped up so much after covid.

Hi everyone. After more than one year and 2000+km . Here is my feed back. The geometry is not the best but still good enough to enjoy the ride. Brake should be upgraded if you like riding without headache. Rear hub is another weak point if you're planning to go for long have spare parts with you or upgrade it. The belt is very sensitive to heavy mud (whatch the video that Duzer broke his belt) so do bike walkig in mud if you do want to bike walk the rest of the route. All the bottle provisions are good only on large size if you getting other sizes especially small you will have problems with fitting the bottle holders. My up upgrades: Break to Shimano Rear wheel set to Shimano Handle bar to jones

@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 4 месяца назад
Questions: Why do you consider Shimano brakes better for the bike than Hayes Dominion? Also, Duzer snapped the belt due to improper reinstalling it after mud moved it off the sprockets. He should have moved the rear axle forward to relieve tension and slipped the belt back on sideways, instead of wrapping it and forcing it on with a crank rotation (requires belt stretch and frame flex to achieve, totally unnecessary) which damaged the fibers. What specifically would you change about the frame geo to make it more suitable to your style? I believe the geo is similar to XC bikes these days, not the slack and radical geo of full suspension trail MTBs. Thanks for the consideration!
@bobakq
@bobakq 4 месяца назад
@@exothermal.sprocket Hi. I picked Shimano because it's much easier to adjust and we have on our other bikes. After removing wheels it takes me less than 5 min to adjust Shimano if it's required. the original brakes needed adjustment every time and it wasn't as easy as Shimano. (We have 3 priorities 2 large one small). If your belt comes off, it already damaged. doesn't matter it comes off or goes on if it's not done in proper way , it's gone. at least this is what we experienced. I think bottom bracket should move forward about one inch. Probably because they used 29 in tires they forced to put it there ( fixed belt length) . That what I feel in comparison to my other bikes Happy rides

How would you compare the Priority 600x vs the Velotraum Finder?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 6 месяцев назад
Great question! I just looked up that bike on their website, cool bike and I love the Orange color! The biggest difference is that the VeloTraum Finder is more of a commuter bike, that can go off road a little too. The Priority 600X has 110mm travel front shocks, which the Finder has just a rigid front fork. Also the Fenders on the Finder would be more useful for commuting, but would load up with caked mud if you go too crazy off road. The tires on the Finder seem more road friendly than off road. So, the biggest difference is lack of shocks and the fenders on the Finder, there are less braze on locations to add extra water bottles too on the Finder. If you want something more like the Finder from Priority, I would look at the Priority 600. I’ll put a link below. Hope this helps! Priority 600 - Top of the line commuter, touring, fitness (everything bike) bit.ly/3AnYxKw Priority 600X - The do everything mountain / adventure bike! bit.ly/3tLHyAP

@Trueace21005 6 месяцев назад
@@KayakCliff Yeah makes sense.. apparently the Velotraum is highly customizable though.. with colors.. and you don't have to have those shocks.. and can also get a suspension fork.. but yeah in general it is more balance for commuting.. road and still some off road.. I just really like the look of it in a lot of ways to be honest.. but yeah need to assess overall functionality more.

Outside hard core trail use with a good 160 travel MTB, this machine seems like the no-brainer for doing everything else. It may not be as efficient, fast, or light as a road bike (and it's not), but it's that ultra-low maintenance machine that does it all. Jack of all trades. By the way, how fast can you go in 12th gear keeping a functional pedaling cadence? Any actual MPH speed? I'm curious.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 4 месяца назад
I've never clocked myself on flat ground going all out in 12th gear, I would imagine that I would get up to 18-19 mph. Going downhill, I will get up to about 25.

When I got the bike with the faulty Hayes Dominion breaks, this was during the supply chain problems. They could not get me Hayes, and offered the Tektro as an equal alternative - I took them at their word and am totally happy with what they gave me. My bike mechanic told me it would be an equivalent too. Oh well, I’m happy with them and they work great 👍

Thanks for watching and commenting Tom! Although you can ride it as a beefed up commuter or hybrid, it definitely goes beyond what you can do on a hybrid. It’s an adventure bike that can handle anything a regular hard tail MTB can handle, but also carries a bunch of gear for those that want to go bike packing. I have a long wand, soft bristle car wash brush that I use for scrubbing the whole bike down. Nice and gentle, with car wash soap.
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 4 месяца назад
Main thing is make sure any abrasives that come off the bike and get into the brush are rinsed away, before scrubbing the bike again. Some people who wash cars use a 2-bucket method; one for rinsing grit off, the other for suds reapplication.

However, I have watched all your videos on your Sea Eagles Kayaks! (393rl, 380x, 385ft) I am in Chicago, IL and am seeking my own kayak for Lake Michigan and the Chicago River. (As well as something to travel with) I am a beginner kayaker! Mostly on flatwater. Right now I am on the verge of deciding between the Sea Eagle 380x Explorer, and the Sea Eagle 385 Fast Track! Stability is very important to me, however, I would love SOME speed. While having a very durable kayak. After reading a lot of the reviews on the Sea Eagle website, it appears some people had durability issues with the 385ft verses the 380x. I wanted to ask you this in your opinion. Is the 385ft super durable for you? Or would you recommend the 380x? And do you think the 380x will be super/too slow on the flat water here in Chicago? Thank you so much!
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Hi there, Quincy! Thank you so much for watching and responding and please accept my apologies for being so late on getting back to you. The fast track will definitely give you a little bit more speed and it is extremely stable. If you are ever going to be doing Rivers and Whitewater where it gets very shallow when you scrape the bottom some, the explorer is probably better to go with because it does not have the inflatable keel. When the fast track had some problems, it was because of the inflatable floor. I think all of those problems have been remedied and don’t think anybody has those anymore. The good thing, is you have a three-year warranty with sea eagle and their customer service is excellent, and they will replace , your floor, if anything happens to it or other parts of the boat. Again their customer service is excellent. If you are going to have a problem, it will be in your first couple outings, but to my knowledge, all of those past problems have been remedied. Their quality is excellent! I am pasting below, all of my videos in the RazorLite, the fast track and the explorer. If you do, choose to purchase, my affiliate links are below. A squirt of water on the belt stops that right away. Hope this helps! Priority 600X - The do everything mountain / adventure bike with 600% (30 speed equiv.) gear range bit.ly/3tLHyAP

Hi! How about that suspension fork, how often do you need to do some maintenence and is it doable on the road? If you do long trips like tour divide?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 7 месяцев назад
Hi @wheelsofdream, I have not had any problems with the fork. After a year a riding, I decided to check the pressure to see if it had bled out at all and I was amazed to find that the pressures were still the same - 36lbs. on top and bottom. Most of my riding was on the road, if you wan the shocks locked out, while on the road, they run nice and stiff. Hope this helps! wondering what seatpost you have? looks like it brings you back a little farther than the original, and do you like it?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff 11 месяцев назад
I ordered it off Amazon. It is an offset seat post that sets me back a little. Nothing wrong with the bike, I just have a very long inseam at 34 1/2” It works best if my kneecap is slightly rear of the pedal axle. I usually make this accommodation on every bike that I buy.

Hi LogicalQ - yes, for me it definitely was worth the upgrade. I bought the Apollo first and used it for a year and thoroughly loved it. Awesome bike! I just wanted something that I could ride gravel, bike pack better on, and ride single track, blue or green mountain bike trails. For me, owning both of those bikes, financially was not going to happen. I had to choose one or the other, so I chose the 600 X. I’ve been riding it hard for a year now, and not one single issue, except for the brakes when they first shipped it to me. They (Priority) fixed that immediately. You can absolutely make this your commuting to work bike and you’re having fun on dirt trails. Bike on the weekends. A good friend of mine Road his priority 600 X across the country last year. Check out Bruce Bikes America on RU-vid I use my 600 X for all of my riding. My weekly workout rides have me riding on sidewalks, City bike paths, roads, and mountain bike trails. Sometimes, all 4 in one riding session. The tires that it comes with work well across all surface types. You can do better though, if you put some smoother tires on for road riding. That’s what Bruce did when he biked across America. Thanks for watching the video and commenting! Do you notice the extra weight of the bike when loaded for bikepacking? It's definitely on the heavy side for an aluminum HT frame with the lightweight Wren fork?
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Hi David - The added weight is because of the Pinion gear box. I & others have noticed that the Pinion being centrally located in the middle of the bike at the crank location centralizes the weight in the middle of the bike rather than on the ends of the bike. This ultimately gives a more secure ride by having the highest amount of the bikes weight in the middle of the bike. You are right, it is heavy for an aluminum bike, probably 2-3 lbs. heavier, I’m not a racer though, so it doesn’t bother me. I LOVE how the 600X is virtually maintenance free, with a 600% gear ration. The carbon belt drive vs. a chain is great not having any grease to deal with at all. Just hose off and clean with soapy water. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions. bit.ly/3tLHyAP

@@KayakCliff - Thanks, Hard Tail Party did an excellent review on this bike and quickly found its limits as a true mountain bike. Where it shined was how Ryan designed it, for forest/gravel roads and tamer (not too technical) single track... more as a pure adventure/bikepacking bike. Weight and the Wren fork were two weaknesses he pointed out. But to your and his point on value, to get a lighter Pinion bike you're spending a lot more money.

Hi Steve - I think the 600X would be perfect for that type of adventure. Not because I have experience riding such an awesome route across continents but because I’ve witnessed it’s construction over a year of multi-use riding conditions. I also watch “Ryan Van Duzer” on RU-vid. He rides the 600X across countries on 1,000+ mile treks and really puts it through a beating. He shows how durable this bike is. I have read and watched others that put their Pinion gearbox / carbon belt drive system through tens of thousands of miles of use with no problems. Hope this helps! bit.ly/3tLHyAP

I couldn’t agree, more, if it was fixable. There was a piston that was sticking and faulty in the hydraulic brake lever. After taking it to two reputable bike shops, where mechanics cannot figure out the problem, I figured it was prudent to reach out to priority and get a replacement. I was more than happy to let the mechanic replace them for me, since priority was paying for the labor. After all, it was a brand new bike, and if there was something faulty, I deserved to have new and have it installed.
