@@AffinityforMTG Gotcha. Which one do you think is the worst? Personally, I think the Astral Slide deck is far too exact in what it's trying to do and would get annihilated by the decks that don't rely on artifacts. It would do pretty good against Finkel's and Budde's decks though.
@@Spiqaro I think this deck, and all the decks from the first few years, are probably some of the worst, just because the cards were much weaker back then. Though I must say, it would be fun to see a competition where all the decks play in an elimination bracket to see which is best/worst. :D
@@AffinityforMTG Yeah, Prismatic Black Aggro does seem incredibly weak, even by its own standards. However, I made the white weenie deck that won the 1996 championship and it ended being pretty good. It's VERY efficient against black and decks that rely on artifacts/enchantments. On another note, I know I've asked you before, but it would be so cool if you could do both the 1994 & 1995 decks. Is there any chance of that?
Hey thanks for doing these, my friend is going through building all these old World Championship decks so this helps give me a good frame of reference to how/why they worked as I only started playing in the 2010s O_O big ups!
Ebony Charm was used to remove Hammer of Bogardan, which was used in a ton of decks. Forsaken Wastes was used against Necropotence because their only source of life gain was drain life.
I am having a lot of fun watching this playlist. I'm in my mid-30s and played Magic basically from Weatherlight to Apocalypse, so it's great both to 1). revisit cards that were current when I was playing and 2). see what needs to be explained in terms of more current game states that I am baffled by in my own way.
