Here is the true story about Joey Bartons brother and how killing that poor Black lad in the park came about.... It was Joeys half brother in fact....He was a Yob living on an estate in Huyton. He was hanging round the local off Licence and going into the shop and giving the Women staff serious cheek and threatening them....One of the Women was kinda connected on the estate and complained to the right person....This person sat off in a car with a few mates waiting for Young Barton to show his face at the shop....Young Barton saw the crew waiting and made good his escape....he went home and complained to a Barton Uncle who was a tough fella.... Said tough Uncle went to the house of the Woman who worked at the off-licence and asked her husband politely whats going on?....It was explained to him how young Barton was behaving and Uncle told the Husband "Ok, Il sort him out, you will not have any more trouble from young Barton"...And so peace was restored to the Off licence....BUT, Young Barton had to find somewhere else to hang around and be a Yob....He chose the Park.....Sadly the rest is history.
I was in Durham with Frank Mcavennie. He was alright but his account in his book of what it was like was hilarious. Mad thing is Barton was a sort of KDB player he could pick passes out brilliantly he had a smart footy brain but that temper = we were 3-0 down in a FA Cup replay v spurs by half time , Barton got sent off AT HALF TIME for mouthing off at the ref - we still won 4-3 another time a friendly v Doncaster Barton caused a 22 man punch up on the pitch
