The poem "Down in Dear Sing Sing" which is recited beginning around 2m59s is by E.Y. "Yip" Harburg, who contributed material to Fleischer cartoons as well as live action features and featurettes at Paramount's Astoria Studios from 1929-1931. He later became well known for the lyric to "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" "April in Paris," "It's Only a Paper Moon" and all of the lyrics in THE WIZARD OF OZ.
