I have a 2001 YZ125 pristine condition. FMF fatty and shorty. MotoTassinari reed valve. I bought it used in 2009. The guys son sold the bike for him and said the swingarm was new and top end and clutch rebuilt. I bought new wheels laced with heavy duty spokes blue hubs and new rotors. And new Dunlops. I honestly have not ridden it in the dirt yet lol. I’ve had to chase the money out of town and can never get to a track. I’m 63 now have been riding dirt bikes since 11 yrs old. Mainly motocross. Owned Yamahas, Hondas and a Montesa once. If I ever get the word I’m going to croak I will let you know because it would be an honor to let you show it and maybe bless someone with it. That was so cool for that guy to leave his treasure with you. You I and so many are so blessed to have been in the sport and love it as we do. Thank you brother.
Just bought my first “big” bike last week Ken. 2013 YZ125, very similar look to it, v force reeds, full pro circuit, letted, suspension been set up. Never had a bike since i was a kid around 8yr old, now 28. Its been worth the wait, one hell of a machine. Been a long time dream and truely think i made it happen because of the Kaplan Cycles channel and IG. Big love from england Ken 🏴 keep up the great work buddy!!
WOW !!! I love these YZ125's ! There's just something about them that make them so special to me. Also because they made the 1st alloy framed one for 05 and kept it the same up until 21 speaks volumes about how good they are (l know that all of the R&D $$ went into 4 strokes) this and the YZ250 have to be the longest run of any MX bike ever made l would think.. 🤔
Gorgeous bike. I always liked Yamaha 125's. Every time I see you riding a 125 two stroke, I want another one. Lol. You make it look like so much fun and you are really good on a 125. I don't think you could find a better 125 than this.
Did the same to a 1999 Hex head AF cr125r. It came out fabulous and a runner to this one. Lucas oil and Troy Lee livery with the old orange yellow number plates. No idea what it cost me or what it's even worth...and I really don't care...I smiled the whole time building it and at 65 I'm probably in the same spot old boy was in...who gets my box of 11 cherries when I check out.
You just can't beat a nippy little 125 to throw around Especially when we go from a big bore 500 I don't know about you guys but whenever I jump on a 125 I'm 14 again Good memories ya know what I'm saying ? ✌❤🙏2u@yours brother
If Hercules Jr. rides a motocross bike, that would be it!! One of the baddest 125's I've ever seen. I like the old yellows, but that blue looks mighty sweet too!
In the next 6 to 8 months, if financially doable, and it looks good, I'm either gonna get a GasGas 2 stroke 125 motocross bike, or a 2023 Yamaha YZ 125. Both very good bikes. I really like the aluminum frames on the YZ's, Love Blue Wheels Too!
They haven't changed other than a few minor engine/carb tweaks and some suspension/brake upgrades since 2006. Most privateers can go out and be competitive with very little $$$ spent on these YZ's. Don't need the latest greatest tech like the KTMs to race and have fun.
