@Thewaywefarm exactly. When I really want something I say I'm only buying lunch. When I don't want anything I feel like I should just stay home and not go for lunch. It's all part of farming
Grew up in Hamburg in the 80's but my Grandparents, Aunt, and Uncle all had Dairies in the Catskills. My farm cousins got to do all the fun farm stuff. Just bought my first tractor, a late 80's Kubota, a few months ago in an online auction. Mostly used for the loader with forks moving commercial appliances as I'm not a farmer currently, but I usually have an eye out for the right piece of land in the right area for the right price. Hard to come by it seems.
I love going to auctions, you never know what you may buy or who you may run into 🙂 had planned on going to that auction, Bob had a well maintained fleet, everything was always kept under cover. I think I was out soil sampling the next hill over, it was cold that day 🥶
I used to love going to auctions but ever since the online sales started I've gotten a sour taste for them, auctioneers have never really been then most honest people and if I can't see the guy I'm bidding against I won't bid. The guy bidding against me may be working for the auctioneer but at the end of the day at least the guy has to stand out in the crowd to bid against me vs. the auctioneer just blurting out the internet just bid and your out. On a side note the auctioneer in the brown coat was annoying as hell, if another auctioneer has the mic, turn yours off and shut up LOL
